Hi there. Brilliant video was really informative. Can i ask a question please. I am visiting Milan in October with my wife and four children for three days. I have read that children under 14 travel for free. So my plan was to purchase 4x3 day tickets which totals 52 euros. My question is for the children under 14 - how do i get them through the turnstiles where you enter your ticket to get in to the metro. Is there a family validation area that i can bring the small children through? I hope my question makes sense :)
Yes, kids under 14 travel for free accompanied by adults. There's a wider gate dedicated for families that can be open with one ticket so you can pass through with the kids. I hope this helps and thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you and your family have a great time in Milan, always stay careful with belongings.
Thank you glad to hear that you found this video helpful, yes you can use sam ticket and there's the contactless payment as well and you can also use the ticket for the mobile app. But I would not suggest taking a night bus for safety if you travel alone, better grab a taxi.
Your video is very helpful :) We are traveling to Monza and Milan (back and forward). During your purchase on machine I didntn see option for suburban extended card- we would like to buy 3 day duration card M1-M4--- where to search for these cards..

Great video! I'm going to Milan in April and feeling more at ease now. But hey, I have a question. I'll be carrying a backpack and a carry-on suitcase during the trip. I've been reading about the need for a specific ticket for transporting luggage. However, I can't find this type of ticket on the ATM app. Does it actually exist? Where can I make the purchase? Thank you in advance!

Hello! Not sure about something. I get on a bus for example & scan my card. How can I prove that I have 90 minutes left on my ticket? Do I receive a receipt? On the same subject, how does the scanner know that I got off the bus? It might charge me beyond my 90 minutes then. Thank you 😊
I did some digging for information on the ATM web. There's no printed receipt for contactless payment, the first time you scan then it will be the start of 90 minutes time. If there is any control then just show your card payment and they will scan on their card reader. Within city area you don't have to tap out when you get off, but you still need to tap when getting on to a bus, tram or metro even in the 90 minutes time. The scanner will know you are still within the time limit and won't charge again. I hope this helps, thank you so much for watching 😊
hello, question, so i can just buy ticket on the tram or just pay with my creditcard? do i also tap it before I get off the tram or just one time per ride? sorry a little confused
Hello, you can't buy any tickets onboard the bus/tram, you can make payments using bank cards or mobile payment NFC on metro, bus and tram. For bus and tram you only tap once. On Metro you tap for both entrance and exit. I just uploaded a new video only for the metro in Milan. I hope this helps and I'm always glad to help. Thank you so much for watching 😊
Well I do actually and I make a regular trip to Lake Como, stick around and make sure you're subscribed and turn the notification bell on. Thank you so much 😊
Hello, I have a question. I will be travelling to Milan this summer with my thirteen year old son. He is free to use public transport but how does he pass through the ticket gate at metro stations? Can I use contactless payment we pass through together?
Thank you, very clear explanation. Regarding the app I see you can buy 24hs tickets, so, would it be possible to buy 2x 24hs tickets for two passengers, and use/validate them at the same time (same day)?, and should I validate them each time I board the bus/tram within that 24h period?
Thank you for your reply. Since it's my wife I will tell her to just install the app also in her phone and that's it, but I assume it must be possible considering a mother with her (not so young) kid, or even someone with an elderly person. Anyways, thanks!
hi, what is the best ticket to buy to get around for 2 days in milan and then also go from Milan to lake como? are the day travel cards accepted on the re80 for example? please reply! thank you :)
Depending on your plan, a daily ticket is valid for 24 hours and which could cross to the next day, but if you'll be on full schedule then better to buy 2 of the daily tickets. For a trip to Como, you have to buy a Trenord ticket. Ticket machine available at the train station. I hope this helps 🙂
I just want to know about 24 Hours ticket. This ticket works also when i take bus from BGY Milan airport to city centre of Milan. Or i have to buy a special ticket to come to city centre from this airport. Other question. When i purchase 24 hours ticket. First time i have to validate. Or it is automatically. When i purchase at the same time.?
For transportation from and to the airport as well BGY in Bergamo you will have to buy a separate ticket for the Airport Shuttle bus. Meanwhile for the 24h ticket it will start it's duration after you validate by using it for the first time.
Thank you so much, yeah up until now we can only buy a regular ordinary single ticket, daily ticket and 10 trips carnet ticket. If anything comes updated I'll let you know
@@StrollingAround hello, thank you for your replay. I think that I have one more question regarding the metropolitan. If I am on the red line, how can I orientate which train is for "Rho Fiera" direction and which is for "Bisceglie"? Thank you in advance!

Hello, thank you so much for your insightful video ! I will be coming to Milan soon and i'll be staying near Sesto Rondò subway station and going often to milano central FS, i heard that the metro from sesto rondo station is more expensive than the other metro stations ? Is this true ? Can you please explain to me how so ? And how do i buy its ticket ? Many thanks 🙏
You're welcome, always happy to help. The whole length of M1 Metro Red Line includes Sesto Rondo is now within coverage of basic singular €2.20 tickets, means you don't need to buy additional tickets like it used to a couple of years ago. You can watch my Milan Metropolitana video where I briefly explain the metro map and its coverage.
If I get a 3 day ATM card, should I validate it every time I enter a transport? For example I use it for Subway, then when I enter a tram should I place it in the device or just keep it in my pocket?
Practically you only need to insert your ticket only when entering the Metro gate just to open it. For bus and tram you can hop on and off without revalidation process. Make sure to always keep your ticket during its validation time.
Thank you for the video. It explains a lot. My husband and I need to get from the MXP Malpensa) airport to Milano Centrale. Can you explain the best way to do that?
Cabin luggage can go without an additional ticket, a bigger one you are supposed to buy a €1.50 ticket. But I've seen a getaway without a ticket. Better buy a ticket as an advice.
Best if you could, but more importantly to keep it during it's duration. Any time there's an inspection you need to show it. Thank you so much for watching 😊.
Hi, I suppose each payment bank card can only relate to one person. Other option is to use the mobile app on each person and connect the payment to one account, I personally use it this way for my family as each one has their own app and is connected to my Paypal account. You can also buy the tickets on the machine, the same thing as each ticket attached to one person.
but wait, if I pay with the card, every time I change the bus in those 90 minutes, I don't touch the card anymore, right? and if I get on the subway later, how does the security bar open if I still have minutes left
You will only need to tap your card when entering and exiting the metro gate as it's the only way the gate will open. You don't have to tap when switching lines, and also no need to tap when changing bus and tram within the validation time of your ticket
@@StrollingAround if I paid with a visa card, it doesn't give me a ticket, and then how do they open, how do I scan? I don't understand that. If I took the bus for the first time and paid with a card (phone application for the card) I look at the card (phone) how maney minutes left, but on the subway you need a ticket to touch the machine, I don't understand this 😆😆
@@iuliacampean7443 that's the thing with tap payment, you have to remember the time you start tapping to know exactly. Once you tap you paid €2.20 for a 90 minute ride across all the buses, tram and metro. If you pass the 90 minute time you will need to tap again, or you open a metro gate after the first 90 minutes then it will charge another €2.20 for the next period of time
Hello, a good day to you. I had a question to ask. Can I take metro ride and then take a bus ride all with the same ATM ticket within the 90 mins time frame ? Can I hop from metro to bus or bus to metro using 1 single atm ticket ?
You don't need to print anything from the ATM mobile app. You only need to validate using the app and it will show a QR code which only needed to enter Metro gate, while for buss and tram you can just hop on right away. 3 days start as you validate your ticket. I hope this helps.
For the metro turnstile you need to use your ticket for entrance and exit, while for bus and tram you can hop on and off during its duration time. Ideally you have to tap each boarding, but in practice it doesn't always be easy. Just make sure you're traveling with a valid ticket
Can you use the ordinary tickets for 90 minutes which cost 2,20 for multiple metro lines. I will be going to Milan for a holiday soon and I will need to use the M4 and M1 metro line. Can this ticket be used for both lines or do i need to buy seperate tickets for each line?
You can use the ordinary €2.20 ticket for multiple rides also different lines of metro and different bus and tram within duration of 90 minutes. You don't have to buy a separate ticket to change lines in the metropolitana subway system
Thank you.
Semoga membantu
Thank you for all the information but i have a question. So whenever we buy a 3 day’s ticket we don’t have to insert or show the ticket every single time right ?
Ciao, in reality, I've seen people taking the bus, metro, and tram with their large luggage, but I must say it's not practical and difficult to handle during rush hours. Officially on the web is written that luggage must be placed on the floor so as not to disturb passengers or clutter the passages and must be constantly kept by the passengers to prevent them from being damaged cause damage. It is forbidden to transport objects and baggage that exceed, even for just one side, 90 cm and objects that by their nature can represent a danger or nuisance to other passengers (objects of glass or other material with sharp or sharp edges, substances flammable, corrosive, explosive, dirty or odor-producing objects, etc.). An exception is made for musical instruments in cases (maximum dimensions 150x50x20 cm), drawing folders (maximum dimensions 100x70x5 cm), roller bags for shopping and folding bicycles (one per passenger, provided that it is folded and does not exceed the dimensions of 110x80x40 cm).
Hi, if I'm traveling with my 11-year old daughter, she travels free on public transportation in Milan, yes? Does she just go through the exit of the metro with me (on my ticket)?
Hi, kids under 13yo traveling accompanied by adult don't have to buy metro, tram and bus ticket, for metro they can enter the gate together with you. There is also a dedicated gate for family that has a bigger opening. I hope this helps and thank you so much for stopping by
@@StrollingAround, thank you! That's what I figured, but I don't know what is accepted in Milan and don't want to make a mistake, especially one that might make it look like I am cheating the system!

Does it mean I can buy it a couple of days in advance and validate later? I was scrolling through the comments for a while but have not seen this inquiry yet unfortunately.
Practically you only need to validate once for bus/tram, still you have to insert the ticket for entering metropolitana subway gate. Keep the ticket for any inspection you will have to show it.
Getting to San Siro yes you can as it's included in the ticket fare, but to go to Malpensa you will have to buy either Malpensa Express Train ticket or take an Airport Shuttle. I have both videos on that matters.

@@StrollingAround thank you very much for your reply & your videos! You've been really helpful. Good luck further with your channel!
In addition, if use the same card for the whole day it will automatically charge the Daily Ticket if it is cheaper to do so

@StrollingAround You're very welcome ! Thank you so .uch for replying !! I like videos like this one ! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
hello, question, so i can just buy ticket on the tram or just pay with my creditcard? do i also tap it before I get off the tram or just one time per ride? sorry a little confused
Very informative. however, if i use contactless payment for train, do i just show my card history to the inspector?
The inspector has a contact device you just need to tap it they will know you already made the ticket payment.
do you have any plans to show information how to get to the towns of lake como
Well I do actually and I make a regular trip to Lake Como, stick around and make sure you're subscribed and turn the notification bell on. Thank you so much 😊
Hello, I have a question. I will be travelling to Milan this summer with my thirteen year old son. He is free to use public transport but how does he pass through the ticket gate at metro stations? Can I use contactless payment we pass through together?
Hello, yes you can pass through together or there's also a family gate usually at the center row near the control room on each gate.
Thank you, very clear explanation.
Regarding the app I see you can buy 24hs tickets, so, would it be possible to buy 2x 24hs tickets for two passengers, and use/validate them at the same time (same day)?, and should I validate them each time I board the bus/tram within that 24h period?
Personally I haven't tried validating 2 tickets at once on my App. U assumed that shouldn't be a problem as it's the same as you purchased 2 tickets.
Thank you for the videos. I have 1 question, why does the APP don't have 72 hours ticket as an option? This is not right....
@@mald1n111 it's written on the sign board along with the arrival time also it's written on the train as well, there's a small board at the head of the train and also near the doors. I hope this helps.
Never mind. I see that you have a whole video on it. 😊
Feel free to browse more videos here then, 😊 wishing you the best time here in Milan
Can i carry suitcase / luggage? Any extra payment?
Cabin luggage can go without an additional ticket, a bigger one you are supposed to buy a €1.50 ticket. But I've seen a getaway without a ticket. Better buy a ticket as an advice.
tell me if the ticket is for 24 hours and the trip started in the metro, do I need to validate the ticket in the tram?
Best if you could, but more importantly to keep it during it's duration. Any time there's an inspection you need to show it. Thank you so much for watching 😊.
Hi there, If we are 3 travellers, can we buy tickets direct on the transport using 1 bank credit card? Or we have to use the machine?
Hello, yes you can. During its validation time any ticket can be used for multiple rides on the metro, bus and tram.
What about children, do they have regular tickets like adults?
Children under 13yo accompanied by paying adults can travel for free.
Is ther possible to buy one week ticket or monthly ticket?
For monthly you will have to make a request to the ATM office located in some major subway station, you may need to have a fiscal code to get one.
Does anyone know if I'm buying 3 days ticket from atm app, must print it or using QR? THANK YOU
You don't need to print anything from the ATM mobile app. You only need to validate using the app and it will show a QR code which only needed to enter Metro gate, while for buss and tram you can just hop on right away. 3 days start as you validate your ticket. I hope this helps.
@@StrollingAround OK so every machine at metro have qr code right?
For subway metro we need to validate the ticket everytime we travel, but do we need to validate ticket every time we travel by bus or tram as well?
Adakah train metro ini berjalan 24 hours atau ada masa hang ditetapkan tqq
Metro lines run until midnight and continue again at 6 am in the morning.
Thank you.
Semoga membantu
Terima kasih yaaa. Video nya sangat bermanfaat🙏
@@valenspareira2567 Terima kasih, senang bisa membantu
Thank you for all the information but i have a question. So whenever we buy a 3 day’s ticket we don’t have to insert or show the ticket every single time right ?
You have to insert a ticket to enter the Metro subway gate, and better if possible every time boarding bus and tram
In using credit card for contactless payment, and we are 6 in the family, do we need 6 different credit cards to pay for our tickets?
One card can only be used as a single ticket for one person while kids below 13yo can travel for free with an adult companion who pays for the ticket.
Ciao! Are big luggages allowed on the bus or subway?
Ciao, in reality, I've seen people taking the bus, metro, and tram with their large luggage, but I must say it's not practical and difficult to handle during rush hours.
Officially on the web is written that luggage must be placed on the floor so as not to
disturb passengers or clutter the passages and must be constantly kept by the passengers to prevent them from being damaged cause damage.
An exception is made for musical instruments in cases (maximum dimensions 150x50x20 cm), drawing folders (maximum dimensions 100x70x5
cm), roller bags for shopping and folding bicycles (one per passenger, provided that it is folded and does not exceed the dimensions of
110x80x40 cm).
Can I also use for S-line trains between Bovisa and Rogoredo?
Suburban trains within the Mi1-Mi3 area are accessible using the ATM ticket. That includes Bovisa and Rogoredo you mentioned
@@StrollingAround Thank you so much!
If I take the metro for two 40 min trips at different times, will one 90 min ticket suffice?
As long as it's within the 90 minutes validation time, start the first time you validate your ticket.
I have a question: Is it possible to buy a 3-day ticket at the ticket machine for M1-M4?
Yes, there's a menu a bit deeper on the ticket machine to buy specific areas for 3 days tickets. Detailed video coming up next.
