I know it's F1, but I guarantee even Max would be cringing at the fact that F1 2020 was used in the same sentence as "simulator".

When it says at 2:06 that circuits are accurate up to 1cm due to laserscanning while the F1 game itself have none of this just make things worst for using the F1 game as example.
But if GTS can make someone go to real sport so can the F1 game, both are simcade (dont mean you can not learn anything with it, it just will be far from the top simulators).

    • @hileutewie
      @hileutewie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

@@IronwillNeo Also, no F1 team will share their telemetry data with a 3rd party. You can't accurately simulate f1 cars because there is no data available.

@@hileutewie it could be iracing, AC, ACC, rF, rF2, AMS1, AMS2, RR, KartKraft ... hell, I would say even Project CARS 2 would be taken more seriously than a Codies F1 game for that matter as it can be a "not high tier" simulation on a laserscanned track with the right car, but slapping "simulator" and using GTS and F1 games as examples just dont feel right.

i think max is right on point there. yes they can get really fast, but they will need that track time to get ''fear of life'' that does not mean they need to be scared, but they need to experience what an actual car can do to you

Your body doesn't feel the G-Forces, you don't have emotions of crashing or messing up involved, you don't have the pressure of the whole team on your shoulders, you don't have to worry about your tyres, you don't need to communicate with your race engineer, you don't feel heat or require to be physically fit, you don't have to worry that if you mess this season up you could potentially lose the chance to drive next season. How can you even compare the two!

Before I went for my Private Pilot License, I had made thousands of hours in simulators. You do get a lot of experience in procedure, radio communication and the thing you missing at home is the feeling of speed, the smells in the cockpit, the subtle vibrations on everything in your cockpit. I don't think simulators are a replacement of karts, but I think they are a rather good addition to the training mix...

I am a sim racer and someone who has a famous FFB tweak for Project CARS 2, and work for that with professional racing drivers as a hobby of mine. Some might recognize the avatar I am using on TH-cam.
Now, my opinion is that yes it can be done BUT... there is always a but... the sim racer has to do a few things.
    1. Dedicate himself to his goal as any driver does from a young age. This includes parental support, financially and mentally.
    2. The driver needs to train from a young age. This by for one a healthy lifestyle by eating and drinking properly, sleeping properly. But also train (workout) with the same regime as an F1 driver but maybe less intense unless they find it pleasant to do. Never discourage those who like to do what they do.
    3. As Max says, you need some experience with real life G-Forces and general seat of pants feel. You need to feel the road through your butt and back, as well as feel the strain on your organ of balance. Not to mention the physical strain on your body and where you might need more focus in regards to workouts.
But most of all... even though physics is improving, there are still differences. So you need to get confident with a real car, and know how to translate your sim racing experience.
So get into a rental kart maybe once a month for a heat or two. The faster the rental the better.
Also go and do some ice Karting to learn how to slip and slide in real life, because differing track conditions aren't done in all Sims or done well enough.
Go drive karts in the rain too, etc.
So yes, it can be done but you need... health, real experience and dedication from a young age.
Last but not least. You need to find a way to get recognized by the racing teams. Cause without that your hard work will be for naught.

Here is your answer. Fraga beat (finished ahead on a championship) this list of drivers as a teammate, with similar equipment or with an INFERIOR car. Those drivers already have a seat for 2021:
    - Yuki Tsunoda (F1)
    - Lian Lawson (F2)
    - David Schumacher (F3)
    - Caio Collet (F3)
    - Olli Caldwell (F3)
    - Roman Stanek (F3)
    - Jack Doohan (F3)
You can also quote Frederik Vesti (F3) since Fraga beat him several times on the FREC with a modest DR Formula, while Vesti was driving a superior Prema.

Obviously, it takes time to get used to the g forces, but essentially its more difficult to train mentally than physically. And f1 2020 is not a sim, try to go same f1 hybrid in rf2 with default setup - good luck

He got 2nd at the FIA NACAM F4 even though he could not race the entire championship.
He got 4th place at the USF2000 championship with an inferior car and a very low budget.
He Was 3rd on the F3 European/Regional when he won a few races even though he had an inferior car he beat the so powerful Prema Racing.

I would guess so. The current gen of Simrace setup and games are so detailed of the real world that you can train a lot of youngsters. Then you can choose the yearly champions to draft into the lower level of F3s. I would say it exposes a lot of hidden talents who otherwise would not have been spotted as not everyone can have a car to race.

I think it's possible, but nothing beats driving a real car. No matter how accurate sim racing equipment gets, you can't get past the bit Max said about feeling the car, the speed, etc.
Not straight from a sim to Formula 1, but certainly feeder series.
Still need a ton of cash unfortunately.
Come to think of it, why doesn't Formula one as a whole invest in some kind of scholarship for talented drivers who can't make it higher up because of the lack of funding? all that talk about diversity, equality and inclusion, surely doesn't extend only to those people with enough money to make it?
