I Think Max's restarts are key to his success. He's insanely good at controlling the pace, which is not illegal, brake checking is illegal since it's used to make people crash, but controlling the pace for the restart is actually key IRL too. I think the best example is the 2019 Brazil GP where Hamilton did not take advantage of a good restart and immediately lost out to Max while Max really controlled the restart and thus managed to gain a ton of time. After such a start its mostly key to manage your tires and keep it clean, which Max is very good at, he uses minimal steering input which also helps with the tire wear.

It looks like you have to turn your steering wheel more to turn than max. Looks like max barely turns his steering wheel and he rounds off corners no problem.
All about working the car as much as possible. Something I’ve learnt recently, pitching and balancing the car with the correct steering, throttle and brake inputs
Yes, I saw that too. He either has a more pointy car (setup?) or is simply better at balancing the car probably through timing his throttle lifts/brake dabs perfectly and with near exact correct amount and finesse that the chassis is doing all the work.. and so he gets next to zero speed scrubbing understeer and is able to exit the corner on the perfect line at very slightly higher speeds. Even when you recognise that is where his pace is mostly coming from, trying to emulate it with the same extraordinary consistency, it is still extremely difficult. It would probably take me a good 4-500 back to back laps on time attack with a ghost car to get close to that, such is his consistancy... Its on another level. The uploaders driving is still a superb 9.5/10 for me.. and there is absolutely no shame in being beaten by a future F1 WDC. Superb video, it really helps you see where and how Max is faster. What an honour to race against him. I'd probably be so totally starstruck that I'd spin off or hit someone at the first corner. :D
When watching a video on youtube called "F1 v Champions League Stars: Heineken Karting Event at Monza" I noticed that F1 drivers are super sharp at turning their steering fast and not all the way to turn way faster through turns wheel whilst normal drivers make rounder turns and turn the steering wheel the whole way. F1 drivers cut their wheel super sharp and really challenge the corners aggressively while normal drivers tend to turn later and have to turn their steering wheel more to turn. View the video that I'm referencing and give me your opinion.
@@alexanderwindowcleaner These painfully slow karts and that type of exhibition event is probably not the best example but yes with a kart... which is very crude, very basic, no differential, it has a solid rear axle and these dont even have front brakes so you have a choice... either dont slide the rear (and because you have a fixed axle which makes the kart want to go straight on and resist turning, aka understeer)... you scrub loads more speed and through a far greater part of the corner... or.. you can be more aggressive with the steering to 'tripod' or tip the kart more on to the front end which raises the inside rear wheel to reduce rear grip and get the rear to come round/slide. That way your front wheels are straighter for longer and you are scrubbing less speed off through the turn because the rotation happens far quicker. If you study a karts steering geometry you will see that the outside front wheel rises up the more you turn the front wheels (aka castor angle.. which karts have a huge amount of)... when you combine weight transfer through braking or throttle use, this allows you to effectively remove some weight and therefore grip from the inside rear wheel through the turn and on tighter corners raise it off the ground completely. So in a nutshell - With a modern race car you typically have a limited slip differential with a big range of load, preload etc settings and infinately more tunability in the suspension/chassis to get the car to react, turn and handle as you desire.. so there is no need to be aggressive with the steering to get around a chassis inherent mechanical deficiency because it doesnt have one... or at least, not compared to a kart. Smooth is generally faster unless you have to be more aggressive to overrule a chassis/handling deficiency. Not sure if you were looking for that kind of explanation or not or comparing kart driving style to a racing cars.. but I hope I have explained it well enough and that, that is what you were asking.
A little bit confused, when you was behind traffic, you was in the dirty air, when the traffic was behind you, they had the slip stream, so which is it?
Good question - it's both. Dirty air makes cornering more difficult, slipstream though makes the straights more OP. And, as all racing drivers i will always claim i'm always disadvantaged lol
Well the slip stream allows cars behind to stick with you, but the dirty air makes it difficult to actually get to an overtake. So you can't really get away from each other that easily.
Very realistic in that overtaking is really hard , wings and grip fix all that . Removing wings might be slower but the less aero would make things more interesting i beleive . Great to see the m8 competitive too as it the only car racing , shame it really was too big to be a great race car .
I have been in the lead just a few times, but enough to come to appreciate that my lack of skills which mean I almost always always race in the midfield, is in fact a good thing, because lapping up front in the lead, unchallenged is so boring, compared to duking it out lap after lap in amongst the pack. It’s much more fun being average 😹😹😹😹
Good clean racing, nice to see. I'm not a big fan of this track for the car though. It's just super tough to punch a hole, and feels like you're gliding on ice all through the lap - put one foot wrong and losing traction, tip toe back. Good job keeping it together to the end.

1st of all his Dad also plays iRacing and most probably him also and F1 driver and 2nd you lost a lot time by not taking the racing lines properly in and out of the turns... losing time on curves as well on straights for that reason.. You were basically just hugging the apexes from start the end of the turns which is not always faster without planing your entries or exits of the turns. F1 drivers do that perfectly Max does is so well even Straight line speed rocket engines Mercs find it hard to catch up to him.
The slowing down then taking off is a big problem on the road side. I have found it to be more of a 'foreign' thing. I have been in races where the pole car slows to almost a stop then takes off.
@@nickpapageorgio8529 Its simple. Max is better at exits, steering input, tactic, tyre degradation management, and overal raw pace. He will never be on that level.

You’re taking the wrong line.. you’re trying to hit every apex thinking that’s fastest when in fact you’re scrubbing speed and making the long straight after the corner short. Max takes a wide line where the long straights after corner are less tyre scrub and longer straight makes him have throttle down longer on the straights
I Think Max's restarts are key to his success. He's insanely good at controlling the pace, which is not illegal, brake checking is illegal since it's used to make people crash, but controlling the pace for the restart is actually key IRL too. I have been in races where the pole car slows to almost a stop then takes off.
I have seen Hamilton do this many times in F1, he actually does it everytime he is in the lead during SC
@@gabifromhell it's chicken shit racing.
Because he is Dutch😂🧡👑
You should do a side-by-side video of you and Max to see where he’s beating you out for time. Probably help impetuous driving a bit too
Probably help “your” diving… I have no idea how impetuous was autocorrected there lol
@@nickpapageorgio8529 Its simple. Max is better at exits, steering input, tactic, tyre degradation management, and overal raw pace. He will never be on that level.
What situation?
MAX MAX MAX MAX
To be honest apart of being alien how to get to this events with really top drivers, cuz not everyone there is a pro racing driver is it?
Sebastian G high irating
@@VK-dt7hn but which class?
You must be in the top split. Now,it all depends on how many drivers sign up for the race.If it's just a few splits, maybe 2-3 you can have lower rating and you will be there
Haha...you were probably racing Jos anyway!! Hey buddy, that was a good run considering you were up against a world champ. Impressive👍
You should see a run done by Juan Pablo Montoya on the race sims...he never really races sims and still wins up against seasoned sim players. When it comes to raw talent and car control..these are the types of guys youre up against.
He's not a world champ though is he.
@@mrplow8333 FUTURE world champion...👍👍
The kid is on another level...😉
Mr Plow he is . Kart WC beating Leclerc btw
@@joejohnnys Im glad you can see that Mr. Souza...Im sure we are not alone in knowing this...the kid reminds me of Mika Hakkinen..balls...racecraft...car control.
He is indeed on the edge where the best of the best balance with the delicacy of life or death. Only the best reside there.
👍
Peter Scrimizzi 👍🏻👌🏻
How can you be sure it wasn't Jos? Doesn't he play iracing ever?
This particular weekend, Max was 100% on the Jos account so that he could race without affecting the rating of his main account, "Max Verstappen". He was live streaming whilst on this account, i should have included footage but you will have to take my word for it:)
@@TobinLeigh I believe you. It would still be cool if it was Jos anyway.
He is good because he is now a world champion a world champion 🏆 🥳
He got his tires warmer quicker? No. He’s just faster.
You mentioned, that the finish driver, was geting the benefit of your slepstream, but when you are behind someone, is not a benefit anymore, is dirty air. By the way, that move of the finish driver was kind of ugly, you had the rigth to be there and he pushed your out.
Great content, great driving, i liked it.
Id like to see him in the MX5
He is max "make it happen" verstappen
"Also" a Finnish racing-driver? Ehhhh.
I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have said such blasphemy:( dont take away my sponsorships pls
Lol wtf ?
I came to the comment section looking for this comment😂😂
@@TobinLeigh : In some ways it's a compliment ^_^ Nothing wrong with the Finnish, ey Mr. Hakkinen?
@@theGoogol I'm legit confused, could someone explain? 😂
When I said "also", I meant that he was "also" a racing driver, rather than a Finn - understand how it may have come across like I'm clueless though
Lewis was doing this before little max was ever doing this.
no
Lime Rock Park is one of my favorite local tracks.
He'll most likely run you off track and complain it's your fault.
Lol he got sent to the shadow realm
You’re taking the wrong line.. you’re trying to hit every apex thinking that’s fastest when in fact you’re scrubbing speed and making the long straight after the corner short. Max takes a wide line where the long straights after corner are less tyre scrub and longer straight makes him have throttle down longer on the straights
But his father does drive also with iracing...
I did the same strategy at the start of the race and people started talking shit to me 💀 so much crybaby energy in iRacing
Wait, he was driving with you in real time? 😧😧
yes Max loves Iracing
He was just in my race. He won lol
He's proper quick huh!!
@@TobinLeigh didn't honestly notice he was in it until I went to check results.
#beACC !!
Can't even say "the word" is ridiclous. Why is that one can wonder? Anyway great video!!
cool video ,, greets from amsterdam ,,
Thanks for visiting!
Omg I didn't know max was using the "jos verstappen" account. That means I actually raced max couple weeks ago :D
You should learn with max and don't stop your car in the track at the end...
Am I the only one that questions if these two names on a game are the actual people?
Yes mate...... your just as good as real F1 drivers lol,...put tickets on yourself much.... on and on and on
😂 I was in that race but didn’t qualify so I could get my irating up
