Hi, I have a Toyota Kluger 2012, i have my original keyfob which is having issues with locking and unlocking the car, so i bought an after market keyfob and tried programming the key as you mentioned int he video, everything goes well, until i open the doorat the end to finish programming. Once i open the door the keyfob stops working, any advise on that ?? Thanks

Ah, BUT what was the cause? I tested my fob battery and it still had a charge like a new battery. I changed it anyway as I change it once a year as recommended. I think something else is going on.... maybe the fob circuit board is drying out like they all do!??
Unfortunately on these years of Highlander you cannot program the key fobs without the correct programming equipment - you will need an automotive locksmith or dealership.
I changed the batteries on both key fobs and now my keys aren’t detected by the vehicle. This helped me get the car started, but after its running, the car tells me the key isn’t detected after every shutdown and restart? Also, the fob can’t communicate with the car locks or panic button. How do I fix this?
I’m having this issue. Some times my highlander won’t start after a few attempts. The battery on the key fob is low so I changed it. Somebody told me I need to reprogram the key fob? I got a new battery within the past year. Any help would be appreciated
The fob should not need reprogramming after just changing the battery. If the message only shows intermittently, even after changing the fob battery, then there may just one an issue with the fob itself
@@PYR-Auto yes mine is doing that. None of the buttons are activate anything in the car but a red light flashes once when buttons are pushed. And this JUST started happening on its own. I replaced the battery a month ago and it was working.
Unless your key is physically damaged, if your Highlander still won't start with the method shown in the video then there may be a deeper issue with the vehicle itself.

Mine has a extra fob that seems like doesn’t work (programed) is there a way to program it without dealerships?

did both fobs work before the battery change? If so - I would suspect there is an issue with the new batteries or they may not be installed properly

On a 2012 Highlander you need to actually press the stop start button with the key fob, while pressing the brake
