    And so if you are looking for the best mat for you, then this yoga mat review should help you find out which is the best yoga mat grip. I test them all out with dry and wet hands so if you're looking for the best yoga mat for sweaty hands, this should help you out!

    Great video! :) I have two manduka eko mats and really love them! I've had them for close to 3 years and use them for my ashtanga practice. My hands never get super sweaty and for that reason, the grip always stays the same for me. They have definitely worn a bit, but are both still as grippy as on day 1. Highly recommend it! :)

      Nina lovely to hear from you! I have students that have the Manduka eKo and absolutely love it :-) Good to know that the grip remains the same! Of the mats I've been testing I won't say it was my favourite. Other than the Manudka Pro, I think my favourite rubber mat is the BMat and my favourite polyurethane top surface mat is the Sugarmat (both made in Canada, random fact!).

    Really after A LOT of research on the best grip and cushion mats, this is so far the best information around, not only manufacturer's word but actual tests. I'm a vinyasa practitioner, 6 times a week, have a manduka pro and I sweat heavy and Indeed it get's slippery, I also tryed the cheapest Gaiam...I had sponge pieces in my back litterally falling apart, so now I'm looking for the best grip, cushion and life time. Also very important I think is when you unfold it in the floor it needs to keep the shape, otherwise feels weird and looks cheap, just a feeling

    Wow great reviews! I love this as it showcases both the pros and the cons. I started yoga with a cheap mat from the store and was lucky in getting a free Lululemon rubber mat at one of their community events only because the color pink wasn't selling in their stores. As time passed my hands were getting drier so it would slide on this mat if I didn't have a heated practise. Later I got a B Mat because of the grip since I have dry hands. Sadly the grip on the B Mat is going after 4 years and find myself slipping a bit in downward dog in a heated practise. At the present I am looking for a new mat and grip is important. I was glad to see you conduct the grip test since there is no store or yoga studios (they are closed in my area which is sad) where I can feel them. Thank you.

    Wonderful video. I appreciate all of the information! I am starting my yoga journey and purchased the Manduka Pro. I sweat and therefore was sliding all over. I really wanted to try Liforme because of the alignment guides. So when it went on sale I bit the bullet. I don't slide anywhere and it makes everything feel so much better! I'm still on the hunt for the perfect yoga mat and have been torn between investing in the Liforme or a Mocana yoga mat (the B mat is just too sticky for me). I've tried to find videos online and yours are the more comprehensive but I notice there is not a large user base for the Mocana in general. Have you heard about this mat at all? Great vid. I swear by Manduka. I have a prolite, an eko lite and a superlite. never use my prolite in the studio, but at home all the tkme. my eko lite lost bits from the toplayer which is a shame bc eko lite's grip gets even better with the years. my superlite goes with me everywhere and I used it on its own. I'm not a queen at long balances, so it being so thin is great. On a 4/5/6 mm I find myself stepping off my mat for balance. favourite remains the eko lite. purchased a new one in a solid colour, hoping it won't break like my old marbled one... Great informative vid, thanks

    I have gotten about 2 years out of each of my 2 Jade mats and I find them pretty sticky for hot Vinyasa. (although, I do also use a YogiToes Towel) The Liforme is tempting but if they are both only going to last 2 years, I'm leaning towards saving around $80 (current prices with shipping) and "sticking" with the Jade...:^) Thank you for the video!

    • @AlexiaKYoga
      @AlexiaKYoga  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jade and Liforme are on opposite ends of the spectrum regarding surface and texture. The truth is that if you practice regularly, then it is hard to find a mat that lasts longer than 2 years. If you like Jade than I would just ‘stick’ with that :-) Liforme is great but oh so expensive. If you like Jade you may like the Bmat, but unfortunately that doesn’t last long either.

    Another great video on yoga mats!!
    I should start by saying I don’t do hot yoga so I can’t vouch for how my choices would work in a heated environment. My hands and feet do get clammy/moist and slip so my first priorities are grip and stability. For that reason, I’m a Jade Harmony girl. It’s all rubber. Superb grip. 4 7/8” thick. Slightly spongy feel (no, you don’t sink in). I feel super stable. People complain about the smell. I smell nothing.
    After practicing vinyasa on it three times a day for two years during the pandemic, I just opened a fresh one. I was starting to see signs of wear but I blame that on my lack of strength and flexibility, somewhat. I have to drag my foot to the top of the mat. It’s not able to get there on its own - yet. And sliding into poses is much harder on rubber surface mats. I guess you have to pick and choose your battles.
    I just bought The B Mat Strong, which is 6” thick (there is also a 4” thick version) because I wanted to try something slightly thicker but I found balancing poses a bit harder with more cushion, though my knees and bum are happier.
    I don’t know if the bit of wobbliness would be true on every 6” thick mat but I did feel a slight “sinking in” on the mat. Minor but present.
    If I were to use a 6” thick mat, I would want it to be more rigid. That probably makes no sense (but it will to some).
    The B Mat Strong has a lovely surface and is super grippy, maybe even more so than the Jade. The Jade has a bit more give. Again, me no smell. You aren’t going anywhere on either of these mats - but that’s just me.
    I think it’s even harder to slide into poses on The B Mat. So hard, I broke my toe! No hard feelings B. You’re a great mat but I can’t use you all the time.
    I wish there was a happy medium: superb grip and slide. I have yet to find it. Oxymoron?
    Even though Lifeforme is expensive, if it was “the one,” I would shell out the bucks because the experience is so much better if you and the mat are at one. Unless they make it a tad thicker (it is thinner than the Jade), I’m a nope and luckily I am not wild about markings and design. Not my priorities.
    The only way you’ll get me on a Manduka Pro - which I am dying to try - is if you salt scrub it for me. Manduka said it wasn’t even necessary you just have to practice a lot. But if you’re doing yoga on an ice skating rink without skates, why would you wanna practice? But again, I know people that swear by them and people that hate them. Go figure.
    For the time being, sticking with Jade Harmony and will roll over the sides to make my knees last and use a
    mysore rug (Love Jade’s. They’re the real deal) under my bum/hip points when they need it.
    P.S. For cleaning rubber mats: if you are sensitive to essential oils and scent like me, Jade recommends 3 parts hot water to 1 part white vinegar. That has worked really well.
    Alexia, if you have a penchant to test other mats, I am really interested to hear your review of the Yogi Bare Mat and Hugger Mugger Para Mat. Those are the only others I hear raves about.
    Thank you for all your hard work! You’re saving us lots of money, heartache and frustration. Cheers.

    • @AlexiaKYoga
      @AlexiaKYoga  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow thank you for your detailed comment! I can’t believe you broke your toe on the B mat, ouch! I agree that the Jade Harmony is lovely and I would prefer the Liforme to be thicker. I’ll add the mats you recommended to my to-review list so let’s see how good they are!

    • @seechangenyc280
      @seechangenyc280 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexiaKYoga I prefer the texture of the B MAT over the Jade but…I never thought I would say this but B might be too grippy. Maybe if someone has lots of strength and a vigorous flow they can power themselves into poses. Might be good for heated yoga/sweaty folk. Dunno.
      I am doing Hatha these days. I lack the strength and ability to lift my body and leg high enough into my abdomen to avoid getting my foot stuck on the way up to the front. Up Dog, would need to wear cellophane. Wheel - I lost my hair. It was kind of comical. Truly a shame. It has a lot of what I want in a mat.
      Alexia, does the Manduka Pro have a firmer surface than the B Mat Strong? I don’t think the Pro is in my future (Manduka says not) but I am super curious. In the meantime, repurposing B for other activities.
      It’s like I need a mix of PVC and rubber for slide and grip. Does it exist? Lulu? Alo? Yogi Bare (but only 4mm)? Hugger Mugger Para might be like B (6mm thick) but curious. Manduka EKo - I bet my Jade Harmony is beats it (could be wrong). This girl is not gonna use a towel on a mat, so those types of mats are out.
      Beautiful colors, markings, designs, couldn’t care less, if it means sacrificing stability, grip. And darn it, I want all that and the ability to glide into poses.
      Come visit me in the poor house.
      Determined to find the right mat because it’s an important part of staying sane.
