  • A high end feature on an entry level wheel? I was as confused as you are. Watch the video, because the results are surprising!
    This feature IS compatible with all games which use a clutch (unlike Trueforce) and COULD potentially be retrofitted to older wheels with a simple firmware update!

      Haha I KNEW IT! I never appreciated Dual Clutch until i needed it in my league races. Seeing it on entry level hardware was a massive surprise for me. I love that the wheel takes responsibility for the functionality and that it has the potential to give you the edge over your peers on the start line. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

    I hate that this feature is so obviously incorrectly named. a Dual Clutch is a type of transmission in real cars that literally has two clutches, and has basically nothing to do with launching. it just shifts faster than a conventional stick because it can disengage the current gear and engage the next one at the same time.
    This feature on the wheels should have just been called Launch Control, because thats what it is.

      Dual-paddle clutch release would probably be less abiguous.

    • @enterthebiscuit
      @enterthebiscuit 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @theEmbeddedCaroBoss you don't have two clutches on the wheel; you have two clutch "pedals" (paddles). The clutch is the thing that engages and disengages the connection between gearbox and wheels. That's why when you change gear you have to de-clutch (detach). It's not two words meaning the same thing. One is the thing, the other controls that thing. Parts of the same solution, but different parts.

    Having just got a G923, I noticed on the box is said it has a dual clutch system. While I was aware this was something which started off on F1 cars, there was no real explanation of how set it up, how to use it or how it works. You've covered all the bases, thanks. While it's not a set-up with paddles exactly as you see in open single seaters, it's definetly a launch control system I'll be making pleanty use of. Now I can do practice starts at the end of a practice session to fine tune the clutch settings, just like they do on the telly.
    Thanks

    Like you said, an underrated selling point for logitech. Personally I think the even more underrated feature that most of people won't even see or notice is the brake spring - logitech actually did it properly this time. No stupid rubber brick and no broken linearity in firmware(hopefully). I had to test and do a lot of mods on my G29 brake pedal to make it a bit softer and nicer, and I'm still not quite satisfied. This progressive spring seems like the perfect solution.

Only now I realize how much of a plastic toy that was. This feels so much more like a wheel. Can't even imagine what the real high-end stuff must feel like. I think the perfect setup for desktop racers would be the Logi wheel as it does not hog space on a desk and the new Thrustmaster TLCM pedals but with the TLCM stand that is designed to be placed against a wall.
    I still have my g27,the wheel has been perfect for over 10 years now,no overheating and I know how to remove rattle on it from trial and error,usually putting some filtering on the ffb removes the clatter for the most part.
    The Logi wheel and Thrusty TLCM pedals and floor stand would get you a nice competitive setup that is practical for the desktop user who has no room for a full on rig.

      Two years late to the video, but I want to chime in anyway.
      You could use software like Joystick Gremlin to create a virtual game controller, using the inputs of your steering wheel or other controller (i.e. buttons) to generate different outputs (i.e. axes).
      You could create a virtual dual clutch function that way with any old controller.

      If you can accurately release the clutch to the exact brake point every time, then great. But there’s a reason this technology exists in real race cars. Most people can’t consistently release to the exact clutch bite point for the perfect launch every time. Obviously, the less powerful or heavier the car, the less you need a dual clutch.

    does this function come with the real car?

    • @LaurenceDusoswa

      Depends on the car but it’s similar to a dual clutch system on a real race car.

    What games have this feature?

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All games that support clutch. It’s a feature that’s powered by the wheel, not the same. So as far as the game is concerned, it is getting a clutch input and is happy. The Logitech smarts are doing the rest

    • @LaurenceDusoswa

      With high powered cars, you lose time by ‘feeling it out’. Every split second matters when you want to compete to win.

      Yeah it's a crazy good feature on an entry level wheel. They talked about it a bit in their marketing materials but there has been more focus on Trueforce than this.

  • @enterthebiscuit

    I don't understand why you'd want this. I mean in the real world it's a piece of cake to use a normal clutch pedal fully to get a racing start, and that's as a general road user. Surely if you're a racing driver (real world or sim videgame) you'd be expected to know how to launch your car? I mean, isn't that the point of being a pro? Dual clutch seems like a way to abstract the experience, the skill and the responsibility. If you want that, then drive an automatic or a semi-auto?

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not a piece of cake in many high powered cars though. Launch control is quite commonplace in many race cars. It’s technically not a dual clutch system but it’s an easier way to explain it. But if you don’t see the advantage of it, don’t worry about it :)
