- So I was finally able to do some swimming in the first h2o mermaid tail that I made!
It took some improvements and time, but I'm happy with the results!
(as of right now, a more updated tail has been created and posted)
had to remove the h2o music due to copyright :(

@@emilymeyers6069 well, h2o tails were kind of a solid orange, and the fluke was stronger and didn't flop as much. Makos tails were lighter and had a lot more colors mixed to look like a real fish, and the fluke was floppy. I'm not trying to sound rude, but I just wanted to lyk 🧡🧡😓
This makes me want to watch H2O again even though I just finished it a few weeks ago lol. The only thing holding me back is I don't think I'm mentally prepared to deal with Kim again

Pro tip: use neoprene leggings before wearing the tail to make the knee bending less obvious and it adds a much more realistic touch to the tail when swimming

I think what this person meant was that wearing neoprene leggings UNDER/IN your mermaid tail will make the knee bending less noticeable, making the mermaid swimming more realistic ! If I eventually didn't understood well and you were right, I'm sorry !
Actually, the way the tail is designed and the way she swims already hides the knee bending very well. She swims very well in a tail

C Y same it’s so cool how she made it and I found everything you need to make the tail and it added up to $260 so I can’t make one I wish she could make a lot of them and give them away for free

Alessio Rotondo same way as the swim flippers, but I also added nails. I did put it very high up in the tail so it’s more extended :D

Well for the scales they used thin piece of plastic which looks more realistic plus, the real H2O tails were much much thicker and heavier so because of that it’s looks realistic because you can’t tell there are legs in there, on this tail I can see the knees. But seriously girl, you did a really good job. The real tails are a huge process so making one with what you had worked pretty well.

@@iliketodraw.5053 I know, and I hate the way the feet look. The foam I used let loose and made the tail chunky. So your right. I still need to improve. And H2O tails are of extremely good quality (and expensive) I hope to improve much more in the future and I 100% agree with you :)
@@MytischCrafts don’t hate it, this was probably a very tough project. I mean I’m horrible with measurements and just too lazy in general to pull something like this. Plus where I live it’s not warm all year round and we don’t have a pool plus public pools probably wouldn’t let us use a tail which I personally think is so wrong.

Must say u did a real good job at camouflaging the heels so they dont create a harsh bend where the monofin starts 💕 it looks real fluid

I only have two critique points... In my opinion the tail is to wide were the body meets the fluke, flippers should have been glued a bit further into the fluke, and the scale part on the original tails start in a rounded line and not in a straight line like on yours. Just my opinion. Everything else is great, you did a really good job.
Yeah that “wide” part is from the monofin. The feetpockets are super choinky. When I’m upgrading the the tail in the future I’m fixing it up :) thanks!

It’s still in good condition but all the pools are closed so I can’t swim. The paint I used on the scales kind off chips off, and I want to fix that, and adjust the foam. I really want to improve it but don’t have the time because I’m working on 2 new tails (pirates of the Carribean tails) when they’re done this one will get a make-over for sure! :D

Awww thank you so much! I glued it on the inside and put neoprene on it so it’s still comfortable
@@MytischCrafts did you have to make a new outer neoprene "skin" to fit the extra foam? And what kind of glue did you use? (Sorry for all the questions, I'm just really excited to be able to talk to someone that has experience!)
John Wells yeah exactly I used a second skin of neoprene. And I used silicone to glue it all together :)

hi Renee! I’m interested in following your method so I just had a quick question for you. Is using silicone to glue on the scales unreliable? I’m not sure if I have the patience to sew them on individually!!
Hey there! (Most people don’t even say hi and that makes me so sad so thanks lol) I would NOT glue scales on using silicone, instead I would recommend sewing. And you don’t have to handsew, you can also use a machine. Another method would be to make silicone scales using molds. If you glue, the scales will come off and that is not safe :)
