I have been in and out the motor trade all my working life and met many blokes at the top of the game in all aspects of cars from painting to electrical . I trained up to NVQ level 3 in the early 90s as a painter but got out of the trade 2 years after. Not touched a gun for over 20 years. I still dabble with minor repairs using rattle cans, it's all about the prep and being patient and a bit of skill, which you have in buckets sir. You are just as good if not better than the "pros".
Nice to here sensible words from a clearly skilled and experienced guy... too many TH-cam detailers out there thinking they are gods gift doing a quick two stage mop. Here’s some genuine hard work, genuinely adding value to cars not just running a mop over them 👍👍👍

I realize the you tube thing must kind of take over your life sometimes and we as the viewers get so involved in what you guy's and girl's do on here, I suppose for us the viewers it's an addiction especially over the last year or so what with the restrictions of what we've been able to do. For me the reason you are liked so much is because you’re a genuine bloke you love a good waffle as well lol. Always wanted to know why don’t you use same colour primer as the top coat. Black on black red on red etc because if you get a light scuff you can see different colour primer and it looks worse than if it matched the top coat. Great job again Grant. 👍👍👍

Looks good mate, the reason a lot of us love the channel is because you work out of a farm shed & do a great job. I've been working in my farm shed for 20 years should really get something better but it keep the costs down. 😃👍
An old painter mate of mine used to add a drop of paint to the primer, it gave a better base coat and didn't show scratches so much. You're doing a top job.

Hi Grant,to avoid deleting footage always save the original files to an external hard drive first,the play with the others if you then make a mistake just get the files off the hard drive.Love the content by the way and hope you do a video when you do the cavity wax treatment .

My mate had a grey and then a white GT turbo in the early 90s. Grant is doubling that car’s curb weight in paint lol. It’s looking fantastic though and thanks for the upload. We all love seeing what some ordinary self taught guy can do in an old barn with a bit of paint. She’s looking hot now

Great vid, epoxy is essential i think on a job like this, recently painted MST mk1 rs2000 rally remake and what we did wss epoxy the car first (car came to us fabricated and welded and bare metal) guide coat and block then fill over the lows so there was minimal metal if any showing after sanding repairs, then on to high build, great product great technique. Grant...great channel, great body man 💯🤟👍
yeah a done most of the repairs a long time ago so just got some epoxy over it and 4 good coats of high build over it ill block out and see how we look 🤙🤙🤙🤙

Hi Grant great vids and honest words at the start, I'm a diyer and the last few jobs a stopped using solvent degreacer before putting the top coat on discovered by accident as I ran out and I noticed how clean the jobs are, i did a vito lift gate paint flat on the panel stand perfect no rubbish in it all. I always wet flat my jobs and I always think my much static build up the is when wiping down. I see you a static gun to demo too rich for me but will be interesting to see. Just an idea might work for you very light tackrag and blow gun and see if you get the cleaner jobs

It's not the paint, it's the preparation beneath it that makes the difference to quality of job. Plus as Grant said, there's still a lot of block sanding to be done before finish is applied. If only it was as easy and quick as they make it look in the car shows on TV Lol.

Just getting round to watching this one, wow, what a vid! The rant on the panel wipe was a bazillion times better than timelapse mate, do one every video, haha. My mate had a grey and then a white GT turbo in the early 90s. Grant is doubling that car’s curb weight in paint lol. It’s looking fantastic though and thanks for the upload. We all love seeing what some ordinary self taught guy can do in an old barn with a bit of paint. She’s looking hot now

i only work on my own stuff at the moment but soon i will start taking some jobs on for people and i sell my cars on ebay if a subscriber dont want them 👍👍👍

Great vid, epoxy is essential i think on a job like this, recently painted MST mk1 rs2000 rally remake and what we did wss epoxy the car first (car came to us fabricated and welded and bare metal) guide coat and block then fill over the lows so there was minimal metal if any showing after sanding repairs, then on to high build, great product great technique. Grant...great channel, great body man 💯🤟👍
yeah a done most of the repairs a long time ago so just got some epoxy over it and 4 good coats of high build over it ill block out and see how we look 🤙🤙🤙🤙

Hi Grant great vids and honest words at the start, I'm a diyer and the last few jobs a stopped using solvent degreacer before putting the top coat on discovered by accident as I ran out and I noticed how clean the jobs are, i did a vito lift gate paint flat on the panel stand perfect no rubbish in it all. I always wet flat my jobs and I always think my much static build up the is when wiping down. I see you a static gun to demo too rich for me but will be interesting to see. Just an idea might work for you very light tackrag and blow gun and see if you get the cleaner jobs

It's not the paint, it's the preparation beneath it that makes the difference to quality of job. Plus as Grant said, there's still a lot of block sanding to be done before finish is applied. If only it was as easy and quick as they make it look in the car shows on TV Lol.
