Mick has a great sense of humor and is a smart business guy in the music industry. Mick helped navigate the Rolling Stones through decades of changing music trends and scenes.
"And so they ran around the corner to a pub, and wrote this song, and came back and played it to us, and um... it was horrible. And we never bothered to record it." Not sure if that was written for him or he improvised it, but either way, the delivery was perfect and I rank that as one of the best skits of comedy I've ever seen.
Matt7895 I laughed so hard when this was first aired, because it was the story I’d heard countless times from Jagger about John and Paul offering them I Wanna Be Your Man, which they did record and release before the Beatles version, until the surprise finish here that it was horrible so they never bothered. It probably was his finish because it was mostly his anecdote, and he’s actually really really funny which he never gets credit for.
@DavidMJordan This incident is based on the song "I wanna be your man", which Paul and John wrote in the studio as The Stones watched and then gave to them. Of course the Stones did record it, and released it as a single three weeks before the Beatles' own version came out.
@gibsongold1970 In reality the Beatles did give the Stones as song. The Stones liked the song so well they made it their next single. The true story is Mick and Keith asked Paul and John for a song. And they did bother to record it as their next single.
ahh, but despite his rebel stance on the Rutles, Mick did cut a song by Messrs. John & Paul and did quite well in the charts with it ... "I wanna be your man"
I wish he'd tell the story about how Fiji Jim took out Dirk McQuickly and his filthy crew. Fiji Jim got around in a tornado with a door on the side near the bottom of the funnel. One time Dirk was skulking around back stage playing tricks like putting chewing gum behind the frets and messing with the tuning pegs so the Stones wouldn't sound good. A cloud appeared and the spout came down and out came Fiji Jim. Jim caught Dirk with one hand and tossed him head first into a dust bin. Then Fiji Jim went scuffling along the train tracks with Malcom Monster and Mr. Jimmy arm and arm down to the drug store to get ice cream and pop.
Mick has an estuary accent, as he lived in Dartford, right by the river Thames. these days its all but, considered as part of greater London? It keeps growing.
He still is kinda pissy that one of the Stone's first good songs was written by the Beatles. though I'm a Rutles (err Beatles) fan, I must admit the 'Stones made a better version of the song...
This movie is genius, but Mick’s willingness in this was an answered prayer.
The guy who played Mick did a swell job ;)
Funny
😆😂🤣
Jagger knowing the history of The Rutles is just perfect!
Well he did live it
Mick has a great sense of humor and is a smart business guy in the music industry. Mick helped navigate the Rolling Stones through decades of changing music trends and scenes.
Apart from his decision to hire Ron Decline. Lol.

This actually corresponds very closely to Mick's speech at the Beatles' HOF induction - only differences being the joke twists here.
Mick is hilarious in this movie 😂
@@danhermon4922 Yeah that "it was horrible" cracked me up.
You gotta love Jagger. He seems to me to not take himself too seriously.
"I'd like to be two hairdressers..." LMAO

"We thought, this can't be too difficult, we'll give it a go."
--the origin of The Rolling Stones, and probably closer to the truth than most realize.
Yeah. I've heard many talented people say similar lines, in real documentaries.
Hit ... making ... potential ... ability.
"...right..."
Any old slag he'd sell a song to.
"I'd like to own a squadron of tanks"

Jagger's trying not to laugh.
Leggy Mountbatten...could'nt raise any friends on the phone, so he accepted a teaching post in Australia.
As an Aussie this made me laugh so hard.Hilarious 😂😂😂
"He was so snobby he wore swimming trunks in the shower to stop himself looking down on the unemployed"
I never noticed until now, how much Mick Jagger looks like Janet Street Porter
One of my favorite songs of his, "Donkey Kong Woman" ...
The hair. The eyes. The accent. Those LIPS! Love me some Mick.
I love how the Ron Nasty character is for no apparent reason always referred to as "Nasty" while the other guys are always called by the first names.
Mick Jagger: Rock star. I can't explain why, but I found that hilarious that they put his occupation under his name as "Rock Star."
Jagger is so funny & divine here.
The first 16 seconds of this are literally what triggered me picking up a guitar about 30 odd years ago
I saw the Rutles and Spinal Tap back in the early 70s. I was a young man back then
The Rutles look nuthin like the Beatles, but the Jagger impersonation is good
LOL @ Eric Idle...
"We were tryin' to buy them for the Rolling Stones..."
"And of course the Rutles were always known for their songwriting ability."
Mick's jealous. Rutles rule!
That's definetely the one and only Mick, is so cute and Awesome!
Even Mick Jagger can't be the real Mick Jagger ;)
Interviewer: Do you think the Rutles will ever get back together?
Mick: I 'ope not!
It's so funny how the other Rutles are always referred to by their first names, but Ron Nasty is always called "Nasty."
"It was horrible, so we never bothered to record it." 😂
I lived in Squalor for awhile...not my favorite town
i love Mick in this movie! he cracks me up... did he just improvise his dialogue, or was this scripted?
He was told to just talk about the Beatles and just replace 'Beatles' with ' Rutles'.
How is 2009? Buy shares in Astra Zeneca and Pfizer.

I'd like to be a hairdresser or two...two hairdressers lol
This is so funny!!
The Stones outlasted the Rutles.
Only if they were consistent and not old drunk men wearing tights these days. The Rutles remain undefeated
ha ha ha! good one.

yes he does seem like a very decent guy
I think he was asked to remember the Beatles, but substitute the Rutles names in their place.
"We didn't have the bullocks to record it" Classic.
Sounds like he said "we never bothered to record it"
Soo cute! Love you Mick!
I'd like to be two hairdressers
oh hell! this is hilarious!
Their. Hit. Making. Potential. Ability.
@kolbpilot "and so we never bothered to record it."
What year was this clip filmed? I wanna say it looks like 1975, but I could be wrong.
Ah this is great...
Mick Jagger is high as fuck in this interview
do you really know what is "high as fuck"?

Mick can be so splendid when he's not skirt-chasing!

I'd like to be 2 hairdressers
ahh, but despite his rebel stance on the Rutles, Mick did cut a song by Messrs. John & Paul and did quite well in the charts with it ... "I wanna be your man"

Mick has some comfy pillows there.
@ffeda Far enough to be in the next country. Not that far I suppose. But still.
haha..Jesus loves Mick Jagger
Mick Jagger's not from London, he's from Kent. They don't share the exact same accent.
Mick has an estuary accent, as he lived in Dartford, right by the river Thames. these days its all but, considered as part of greater London? It keeps growing.
@LillyCandyCane How far is Dartford fom London anyway?

@KellyGreen5555 Yeah, I guess it is. Damn Lodoners.
Actually it was a shitty song - Stones blues covers much cooler.
