Absolutely, of course, if it had been by the inerrant and most exalted and sublime Beatles we'd all own a copy. If not by the Beatles, why else would anyone give a damn about Rocky Racoon?
@@lpowers Correct. Though, there was a fifth Rutle, named Leppo. His influence on the Rutles was so immeasurable that no one has ever bothered to measure it.
My aunt adored Barry. When I was older and took an interest in the Rutles she gave me her record collection and all the Rutle memorabilia she had. This was around 76 when there was talk of them getting back together.
It takes the organ riff from im looking through you and transforms it into an entirely original entity...its hard to realize just how good these rutle songs actually are because of the parody origins but man neil innes crafted some excellent songs for the soundtrack, this being one of the best
I remember running to the record store to get the soundtrack album in 1978, and "Looking Good" was NOT on it! Very Disappointing!! Nice to see the "Pre-fab four" getting a new lease on life on TH-cam. Who says a legend can't last longer than a lunchtime?
It also has shades of "I don't want to spoil the party". That's part of Neil Innes genius. He would splice about 3 or 4 different Beatles songs to come up with one.
That isnt the real Dirk anyway. The real Dirk died in 1834 while attempting to break the land speed record by hopping only. They didnt waste anytime in cloning him using only an eyelash.
Does anyone know whether there's any surviving footage of the Rutles last-ever concert performance at Swizzlestick Park? Now that would be something to see.
Lyrics: It’s Looking Good Song by The Rutles Overview Lyrics Artists Listen Lyrics There was no one in my life till I met you You brought me love and taught me how to smile You picked me up when I was feeling blue From now on my future is worthwhile It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good Now that you have given me reason to live I will stay forever by your side And give you all the loving I can give Just say the word and be my bride It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good I'm not throwing caution to the winds, oh, no Love is not an easy game to play Though I may not be a man of words, yeah, yeah There is one thing I feel obliged to say It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good It's looking good
If you ever watch the movie with Eric Idle's commentary he says that it seems like Jagger was disclosing some stuff about the Beatles but all under the guise of the Rutles. So there really could be some truth to what Mick is saying.
@kangaroocomedy i was there as well and can verify this story....dirk had told leggy that 'life was i big movie anyways and were all actors' as he put it and nasty said'right, lets go out and try some o that tea everyones been talkin bout' so while the actors played at che the real rutles were out looking to score some tea... we later met up at the hotel . but we didnt get paid ..they told us to sod off and act like we got paid..they settled for coffee..they coldnt score any tea.
This song is actually taken from another band from the 1960s, who were obviously influenced by the Beatles. I heard it years ago, and realized "ah, that's where the Rutles got it from". But I can't remember what the actual song or band are that they took this from.
Sorry, you're memories playing tricks on you. Definitely original pastiches by Innes based on Beatles. The great thing about these parodies is that they make you think that you have heard them somewhere before. It's because of the cunning mix of real elements, but then reblended into different places.
No, it's definitely a thing that I genuinely remember. I've seen the Rutles many times. Then one day, like twenty years ago, I heard the song that they based this on and instantly recognized it. I'm a musician so I could tell that it was all the same chord changes as well as melody. Both the original song and band are somewhat obscure though.
Xile Fregnu The great thing about the Rutles is that they take several elements of Beatles songs and in the end.. They end up with something new and fresh.
I guarantee if the Beatles had released this exact song it would have been a #1 hit.
Almost all Rutles songs are shockingly good. It’s actually really impressive Innes was able to write these silly parody songs that were actually good.
@@geo5146 yes, the songs are strangely simultaneously good and awful.
More like tributes. Parodies are supposed to make laugh more than love m.
"Get up and go" might be even better than Get Back
@@reuireuiop0 It`s looking Good is better than 90% of the Beatles tunes.
Absolutely, of course, if it had been by the inerrant and most exalted and sublime Beatles we'd all own a copy. If not by the Beatles, why else would anyone give a damn about Rocky Racoon?
Barry is an underrated drummer. Not technically the best but he always played the perfect part for the song.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😎👊
There's no Pete Best in his universe?
@@lpowers Correct. Though, there was a fifth Rutle, named Leppo. His influence on the Rutles was so immeasurable that no one has ever bothered to measure it.
Brilliant performance by Jagger in this movie. His best film role bar none. And Niel Innes is a genius
Did the rolling stones not start off their career with a number from a tribute rutles band the beatles i think 😂
He looked and sounded just like Mick Jagger!
The Beatles should thank these guys!
Wasn't this around the time Nasty and Stig's dentist introduced them to tea? Legend has it he put tea in their coffee. 8)
Neil Innes is a genius! He wrote all these songs that sound like Lennon and McCartney could have penned them.
Also worth mentioning is Ollie Halsall who played all the guitars.
More like the monkeys than the Beatles
The rutles were a bad influence on me they got me addicted to tea for 50 years and still on it 😂
Me too, trouble is. It's a gateway drug to biscuits..
😂😂😂🍵👍
It led me to scons ,and dare I say turnovers apple in particular. That damn tea!
A legend that'll last a lunchtime. ;)
Rutlemania will go down in history. When it will go up in history... who knows ?
George Harrison was in the original TV program. THe riff for this song is lifted out of "I'm looking through you". Brilliant.
My aunt adored Barry. When I was older and took an interest in the Rutles she gave me her record collection and all the Rutle memorabilia she had. This was around 76 when there was talk of them getting back together.
Che Stadium was named after the legendary Cuban revolutionary, Che Stadium.
No. Was Che Guevarium !!
That’s actually true.
that "murder man"
LEGENDARY REVOLUTIONARY??? HE WAS A MURDER AND AN HOMOPHOBIC.
I was there!!! You could not hear anything but it was amazing! Best day of my life♡
perfect beatles homage/parody and what a catchy song it is.
The Rutles rocking Che stadium .
Though tonight she makes me sad ,l still love her❤
How can u not give me a like when u know l'm down!
Love those RUTLES!!!!
I don't give a damn what people think, this is a good song.
I agree, it's a very good song.
i wish i was 70 in the '60s just so i could say how great things were back in my day and scowl at all the Rutles fans
Love the CHE live!! Awesome 🔥🎶🔥
It takes the organ riff from im looking through you and transforms it into an entirely original entity...its hard to realize just how good these rutle songs actually are because of the parody origins but man neil innes crafted some excellent songs for the soundtrack, this being one of the best

One of my favourite lyrics of all time:
"Though I may not be a man of words...
Yeah Yeah"
Neil Innes is a genius
It also has shades of "I don't want to spoil the party". That's part of Neil Innes genius. He would splice about 3 or 4 different Beatles songs to come up with one.
The fact that they used a Indian guy to play George is just genius,I love it.
South African!
INDIAN HELP
Mick, was awesome. You could tell he wanted to crack up in laughter😂😂😂 but he kept his cool.😎😎😎
Yeah, Neil Innes is really a genius!! Greetings from Mexico.
Still a better song than anything released from 2000 on lol
Stig was so dreamy! AAAAHHH❤❤❤!!
A legend that will last longer than other living legends have done before.
Neil ROCKS!! Met hima few years ago! Awesome guy!!
"Love is not an easy game to play" - haha third verse of "Yesterday"
You can tell that Mick Jagger is just plain jealous, 'two birds each' when all he had was Marianne Faithful and a confectionery bar!
"I'lll Cry Instead" thrown in there too.
A musical millstone
i love the fact mic said this about them
Che Stadium...Classic!
"I Don't Want to Spoil the Party So I'll Go..."
That pops up in "Now She's Left You", too - there's a definite melody swipe there. :-D
The beginning riff is actually almost the end riff in im looking through you.
0:07 If there's ever a movie made about the Stones, Rupert Grint needs to play Mick Jagger... he really resembles him.
A bit of guitar off "I'm looking through you" in there too! Brilliant
Fantastic! It's Very Good too !!!!
To meter the impact that the Rutles had on world culture and the outlook of man is truly impossible.
I love this part!!!!!
Forget The Fab Four, The Rutles rule, ha ha. I've got their album from '78 on cd. I know it's a spoof (obviously) but it's really well done.
"I'm Looking Through You" guitar riff.
That isnt the real Dirk anyway. The real Dirk died in 1834 while attempting to break the land speed record by hopping only.
They didnt waste anytime in cloning him using only an eyelash.
Classic
great acting by Mick!
Does anyone know whether there's any surviving footage of the Rutles last-ever concert performance at Swizzlestick Park? Now that would be something to see.
it's still a good song.
and the rolling stones commenting on this song. too sweet
It was DEFINITELY looking good, for sure!
Long live Che Stadium! Maybe there will be a Rutles reunion concert at brand new ChitiField.
Genius
innes should have his own star on the walk and a wing of the rock n roll museum and i dont know.. a bunch of stuff he never got
Rutles, pure genuis....
All their songs could easily be by the Fab 4. Wonderful parady…
Ha ha, "Che Stadium". What city was that in? Havana?
'Is it really the Rutles - might be somebody else'.
The Rutles are the band Wings could have been-RIP Leggy Mountbatten
Do you mean Punk Floyd? You do realize Leggy is alive all he did was go to a teaching post in Australia?
Funny but this footage of the Rutles at Che Stadium looks suspiciously like the Rutles playing their final concert at Candlestick Park from Rutles 2
It is
For some reason, Can't Buy Me Lunch changes certain moments of the band's history.
actually a legit good song by the faux four

There was no one in my life till I met you
You brought me love and taught me how to smile
You picked me up when I was feeling blue
From now on my future is worthwhile
It's looking good
It's looking good
It's looking good
It's looking good
It's looking good
Now that you have given me reason to live
I will stay forever by your side
And give you all the loving I can give
Just say the word and be my bride
It's looking good
It's looking good
It's looking good
It's looking good

I'm not throwing caution to the winds, oh, no
Love is not an easy game to play
Though I may not be a man of words, yeah, yeah
There is one thing I feel obliged to say
It's looking good

fucking brilliant!!
Ten years after, it still fucking IS.

CHE Stadium!! Ha ha ha ha!! Long live Dirk McQuickly, Barry Wom, Stig O'Hara, and Ron Nasty!
“Two birds each.” Lol!
The opening is a spoof of "I Don't want to spoil the party"!!!
The guy at 1:43 = literally the coolest thing to have ever have graced the planet earth straight out of the 60s ✌️
the song is a mixture of beatle songs, however I think the bridge (starting at 1:13) is original Neil Innes!
The Rutles has more videos than the Beatles in color.
Fidel Castro played shortstop for the Nyets at Che Stadium, right?
Right.
Oh, the irony: "Is it really the Rutles? It might be somebody else"
Very similar to 'I Don't Want to Spoil the Party'.
Barry Wom!!!
Neil Innes, RIP …...
I think it's meant as the complete opposite of I'm Down.. hence the Shea STadium footage
To most :D, a joke or sarcasm is funny, and needs no explanation =P.
Sounds like 'don't want to spoil the party'
The beatles based their whole career on these guys 😷💀
The Estate of Blind Lemon Pye still fighting for his money in the courts. Ruttling Orange Peel was always cool with them.
Could, 'It's Looking Good' ,it have been a charter in the 1960s?
‘elicopter.
remember any of their names

Too fucking brilliant and funny! Beatles songs turned sideways.
Blind Lemon Pye discovered the Rutles...
There are people who think The Ruttles are a spoof band you know !
I don't wanna spoil the party vocals line hahahaha
They sound like Dino, Desi and Billy.

The song is called "It's Gonna Be All Right", by Gerry and the Pacemakers.
Thank you, can you hear us? LOL!
Ron Nasty . What can you say! Lennon was inspired.
It's witty, I love it
Never, no sh*t !!!! In fact if you listen really hard, all thes Rutle songs sound like the Beatles. I think you are on to something !!!!
Is this supposed to be I'm Looking Through You?
And maybe a little bit of And Your Bird Can Sing?
theshaw2000 Sounds like I Don't Want To Spoil The Party in the beginning...
Xile Fregnu The great thing about the Rutles is that they take several elements of Beatles songs and in the end.. They end up with something new and fresh.
You know it's funny, I never noticed that until a fan-made 'Rutle Soul' LP used this in place of RFYL. It's definitely in there!
Still funnier than most comedy films I've seen since 1978.
It's a little She's a Woman, and a little I'm Looking Thru You, I think.
This is from Rubber Soul.
Actually from "Rutle Sole"
@August8th1969 named after Che Stadium
