I think that the Island did not rise from the sea. Thera Island was round ... The eruption tore apart most of the Island leaving only the croissant that we have today. In the center of the caldera after a new eruption in the year 46-47 AD a small island rose named Kameni. Kameni translates in burned... In 1570 and 1770 AD other landmasses rose near the previous. The Volcano is still active and spits regularly lava..
santorini and Vesuvius are totally different. santorini was 100 times stronger and altered the climate of the entire world for years. it could have create d multiple 津波 425m high. phone is Japanese an puts Japanese words to kanji. sorry. tsu nami. all of Greece was hit with waves and Crete The water would've caused flash flooding in The numerous gorges and canyons. ppl were incinerated. it was at least 4x as strong as Krakatoa. By means of woodrings on a tree in Turkey, the Akrotiri eruption has been established at 1560.
I love the book "Unearthing Atlantis" about Thera.

I don't understand why Thira would have been on an important trade route between Crete and Cyprus. Thira is north of Crete and Cyprus is east
