Just an FYI, Ben Mink played a large part in Geddy's solo album "My Favorite Headache", which was created during the hiatus of the band after the passing of Neil's wife and daughter. That is one of the most beautiful pieces Rush ever wrote and to play it live with Ben is hard to explain. No word. Thankyou for playing that request redheadedneighbor, your a legend.
Losing It and Countdown are the last 2 songs on the album Signals and are 2 of my very favorite Rush songs. The end of Losing It leads right into the beginning of Countdown seamlessly, and for me Losing It is like a prologue to Countdown. I almost always have to listen to both songs back-to-back. Also, I was lucky enough to see them in concert many many times, and was so excited to hear them play Losing It live on the last tour I saw them on. Rush has been the soundtrack to my life, and I miss them dearly. Such a shame that Neil's journey on this Earth had to end early. He and the band had so much more to create and give to the world.
This song is coming straight from Neil, some of his most personal and emotional writing. Just wow. Beautiful song. On the opposite end of the RUSH spectrum, he did also write a great song called I Think I’m Going Bald! It’s on The Caress of Steel album. Early RUSH. The funny thing is that I can relate heavily to Both songs! 😁
First: Cool shirt, I love it. Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins is a HUGE Rush fan boy. Two: Even when they strip it down and generally play or sound like a trio, it still feels and sounds like more. I’m guessing their unique style and choice of tunings, time signatures and chord/note selection within the song accounts for it. Third and final thought: It’s absolutely amazing how much fan base support they had to allow them the opportunity to create and play WHATEVER THE F*€K they wanted to.🤘🖖✌️🎻🎸🎤🎹🥁
The older I get, the more meaning this song has. Normally not a huge fan of covers, but there is an excellent cover of this song here on youtube. The artists are Brody Dolyniuk & Nina DiGregorio. There is also an amazing Rush medley done by Nina's group called Femmes of Rock - Tribute to Rush (Medley). They do Rush songs on electric violins and cellos. Worth a look for sure.
A very special performance. Extremely rare and amazing delivery of this song.. Ben's bow was totally frayed by the end. Great reaction . Thanks for getting this reaction on the channel.

Hi, greattt song, rush always not afraid to experiment, dam, again, neil hits a home run lyrically. "most of US just dream about ..." so humble he includes himself in that lyric.
Losing It is truly a Rush deep cut that's revered by their most ardent fans. Lyrically and musically, it's one of Rush's most emotional compositions. It's interesting seeing the violin solo being reproduced live, but the original studio take was breathtaking, particularly with Neil's drumming increasing intensity during the verse. The best live version of this song in terms of the violin solo, IMHO, was Jonathan Dinklage's effort while playing with a Rush cover band called YYNOT. Great reaction, but seriously, check out the studio version.
I’m loving your channel especially the Rush ones. I’ve mentioned it before if you can. Please on the live R30 video play for us Bye tor and the snow dog. It’s old school. One of my favourites which is pretty hard to say favourites lol. Pete from Toronto the boys home town. Rush has been part of my life since I was around 8 years old no joke I’m 60 now. I love watching your reviews so elegant. Keep it coming.
It was the sax player that died from the Dave Matthews Band, Leroi Moore. Boyd Tinsley was the violinist, who turned out to be a bit, well I'll leave you to look it up... You just never know what you're gonna get with Rush, the only thing you know is it's going to work and going to be good.
@@millerbeer01 Yeah it's definitely a big miss. I hadn't really been able to get into the last 2-3 albums so I hadn't listened to last years before a week or so ago. *THANK YOU* That's from my 21yo son who sees ME in this song. Thirteen years ago I was diagnosed with ALS (it carries a 5-to-5 year death sentence). Losing It describes what's happening to me, *and* to him as I deteriorate - losing all the things I USED to enjoy with him. Yeah, the song is a special bond between us - like a moment nobody can ever take away.......
Hi yah Red. Nice video. This was a really good choice! I haven't seen this in years. The dirty stainless finish on Geddy Lee's bass and the hollow body violin are classic. Ben Mink was a really kewl addition, no doubt. Thanks for posting...
my senior year in high school I totally stole this song for a class where I had to write a poem....and didnt....and last second jotted down the lyrics from the cassette tape cover....and my teacher was like 100 years old and she had no clue who Rush was....but "we" got an "A" so thanks Neil.... great version and nothing like live Rush.....
Geddy and Ben’s friendship goes back many years; when Geddy’s kids were little, they called him Uncle Ben “Some are born to move the world and live their fantasy But most of us just dream about the things we’d like to be Sadder still, to watch it die than never to have known it… For you, the blind who once could see… _the bell tolls for thee_ RIP Neil Peart RIP Ernest Hemingway
Out of all The RUSH concerts I saw, not once did I hear this song live. One of my absolute favorite songs. This one hits me hard. Read the words. Thanks for doing it. 🙂
Simply stated...Rush is the best band, ever. The musicality, composition, lyrics, arrangements, superior skill with their individual instruments, they are simply unmatched. And I love, love, love other music styles and artists, a plethora of them, but Rush stands alone.
It sounded note For note(Ben!) Never played live because Geddy refused to compromise and just wasn't able to replicate Ben's extraordinary writing and playing on his myriad of synths, etc. Lovely!
I saw Rush 32 times, the first one they opened for Nazareth back in 75 the last time was the very last time they took the stage together August 1st 2015 at the LA Forum they played losing it it was the 5th time live that they had played it. They had John Dinklage play the violin part.
An amazingly beautiful song, love it. Unfortunately I never saw them play this live, last saw them in the UK in2013 but this wasn't played till their last tour in 2015 which sadly didn't leave the USA & Canada.
I've been a Rush fan since the 70's. Seen them every tour, some multiple times, from Grace Under Pressure to the R40 tour. It don't get any better than this😊
Ben Mink was in another talented Canadian band called FM in the 70s & 80s. I've seen a photo of Neil wearing one of their band shirts back in the day. I was shocked a few months ago to see another reactor do a youtube video to one of FM's songs; probably the last band I would expect to see a reaction video of.
Neil was around 30 when he wrote this and I remember thinking at the time, "What is he talking about? Rush is just hitting their peak (I was 16 and didn't really know their 70s stuff yet.) and they have a long way to go before any of them are really old...) and then all of a sudden it's 30+ years later, and knowing the overall band sitch in 2015, this had to hit way harder. And then to think, *this* performance is almost 10 years old, itself... As the man also said, "Time stand still!"
You know Neil wrote five books. I've got three of them and they're all really well done and very good reads. I think the one he wrote about his journey to try to come back from the death of his daughter and his wife within 10 months back in the late 90's is the most inspirational and the one you would enjoy the most... it's called Ghost Rider
I read somewhere that verse two was about Ernest Hemingway (hence the lyric "the sun will rise no more"). I tjink it's an incredible song, although there were things I wanted to do in my life was never able to do physically so I was always conflicted about " sadder still to watch it die than never to have known it".
Thanks so much for doing that! I know I suggested it, but suspect I wasn't the only one. Someone mentioned Tears - another emotional one. Also, try Lessons, Anthem and Mission. Also, Scars from Presto is a bit different.
I am a large Rush fan. Out of all the albums and songs, this is probably my favorite. I like Geddy's voice, Alex's guitar tone and Neil's drumming is great. This is probably my favorite Rush album, Signals. The album follow up to Moving Pictures.
Stupid trivia: the "Signals" album (one of my top three favourite Rush LP's) came out in 1982, the same year that my daughter was born. She is now a 42 year old mother of three. Damn! Do I ever feel ancient!! (Probably because I am....)
You probably won't see this, but I think your reactions are awesome:) Just pure enjoyment and experience. I know you have patreons who suggest things, however, I hope one of them asks for the song 'Roll the Bones" from the Rush in Rio live footage. I think you will be delighted:) Blessed be my cool azz neighbor:)
I love your reaction videos for RUSH, especially the way you smile when Neil does a drum roll. I would love to see your reaction to the live version of Cygnus X 1.
Hi Redhead Neighbor! Greetings from South Texas. I'm sure it's been suggested already but "Roll The Bones" is a song I'd think you would really enjoy. Deep lyrics and a few twists and turns, which I know you would get a kick out of!
Some are born to move the world To live their fantasies But most of us just dream about The things we'd like to be Sadder still to watch it die Than never to have known it.
As a drummer, that was one of my favourite drum performance from Neil but in this live version...he plays none of it !! His brilliantly crafted drum parts and delicious fill after the chorus are to die for and he does not do it here !! So sad, that heartfelt fill is one of his absolute best ever.
I'll have to have an A/B listen! 🙂 One thing I'd always noticed myself is that Neil had never ever replicated that cool snare drum fill in the studio version of 'Tom Sawyer' that happens right before 🎵"But change is"🎵! I wonder why?!
This song's been giving me goosebumps for 42 years.

Just an FYI, Ben Mink played a large part in Geddy's solo album "My Favorite Headache", which was created during the hiatus of the band after the passing of Neil's wife and daughter. If you have not heard it, I recommend giving it a listen. It's not Rush, but it is a pretty good album in it's own right.
Red CONGRATULATIONS ON 31 K I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU AND PROUD OF YOU LADY YOU ROCK💯💯WE ALL ADORE YOU ❤❤❤#redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulfuncountrygirl #30K #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #bestbadjokes #reaction
👍👍👍props to the person what requested this song. Thank you
If only he could've toured with them! This audience got the ultimate treat!
I'm surprised that they didn't do it on Clockwork Angels when they had the string ensemble.
Can't wait for the next Rush Day! Even if you have heard the song there are loads of live versions that bring something new to it.
Those string ensemble players were more classically trained, while Ben is a Folk/Rock violinist. At least that's _my_ impression 🙂
One of the all time favorites.
Alex wrote I Think I'm Going Bald, actually.
Look up the lyrics to this song. EPIC!!!
Like all of RUSH lyrics.
I have always absolutely loved this song, for so many years. Absolutely amazing stuff.
What a delight to share the stage with the best band in the world and how special to come back years later to play this song with them. Gives us hope for humanity.
Rush isn't like going into a rabbit hole it is a wormhole to another dimension #reaction #rush #rushreaction #geddylee #alexlifeson #neilpeart #benmink #redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulfuncountrygirl #30K #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #bestbadjokes
Hi, greattt song, rush always not afraid to experiment, dam, again, neil hits a home run lyrically. "most of US just dream about ..." so humble he includes himself in that lyric.
This song has gotten me through a lot. Fortunately it was around in time to help me through the Darkness and still does to this day
Losing It is truly a Rush deep cut that's revered by their most ardent fans.
This song means so much to me 😍❤
It's amazing!
Couldn't wait, so watched it during my lunch break at work🙂. Thanks for sharing👌.
Many thanks to you for this reaction and thank you to the person that requested this one!☮☮
Plus, at least according to Dave, was just phoning it in. I'm currently at 93 DMB shows, and it was obvious. But I do miss the fiddle being played.
@@millerbeer01 Yeah it's definitely a big miss. I hadn't really been able to get into the last 2-3 albums so I hadn't listened to last years before a week or so ago. I have to say there's 3 or 4 on there I really like. The Only Thing, Monsters, Break Free and Madman, love the arabic sounding riff on that, brings back The Last Stop memories.
*THANK YOU*
That's from my 21yo son who sees ME in this song.
Geddy and Ben’s friendship goes back many years; when Geddy’s kids were little, they called him Uncle Ben
“Some are born to move the world and live their fantasy
But most of us just dream about the things we’d like to be
Sadder still, to watch it die than never to have known it…
For you, the blind who once could see… _the bell tolls for thee_
RIP Neil Peart
RIP Ernest Hemingway
Out of all The RUSH concerts I saw, not once did I hear this song live. One of my absolute favorite songs. This one hits me hard. Read the words. Thanks for doing it. 🙂
Simply stated...Rush is the best band, ever. The musicality, composition, lyrics, arrangements, superior skill with their individual instruments, they are simply unmatched. And I love, love, love other music styles and artists, a plethora of them, but Rush stands alone.
You be correct!
Trivia: Ben Mink co-wrote Constant Craving with KD Lang. It won a Grammy Award in 1993.
Tme signatures abound and just seamlessly and magically blend - this piece is so beautiful in so many ways. 🙏🏼
It sounded note
For note(Ben!) Never played live because Geddy refused to compromise and just wasn't able to replicate Ben's extraordinary writing and playing on his myriad of synths, etc. Lovely!
Brilliant lyrics. A reality that a lot of people don't want to think about but is inevitable.
I saw Rush 32 times, the first one they opened for Nazareth back in 75 the last time was the very last time they took the stage together August 1st 2015 at the LA Forum they played losing it it was the 5th time live that they had played it. They had John Dinklage play the violin part.
An amazingly beautiful song,love it.
Unfortunately I never saw them play this live, last saw them in the UK in2013 but this wasn't played till their last tour in 2015 which sadly didn't leave the USA & Canada.
Such a beautiful song, no matter the inference. I'm glad you got to hear it.
The bell tolls for many others now that you've shared the message. ❤❤
This is song 2, ( after the garden) in my 10 hr Rush playlist. Awesome reactions. ❤❤❤
Fantastic Song ❤ Ben is an amazing artist ❤ 🇨🇦
You know Neil wrote five books. I've got three of them and they're all really well done and very good reads. I think the one he wrote about his journey to try to come back from the death of his daughter and his wife within 10 months back in the late 90's is the most inspirational and the one you would enjoy the most... it's called Ghost Rider
I read somewhere that verse two was about Ernest Hemingway (hence the lyric "the sun will rise no more"). I tjink it's an incredible song, although there were things I wanted to do in my life was never able to do physically so I was always conflicted about " sadder still to watch it die than never to have known it".
can you imagine the musical pressure of playing live with Rush? best bring your A-game.
❤ love this song
Thanks so much for doing that! I know I suggested it, but suspect I wasn't the only one. Someone mentioned Tears - another emotional one. Also, try Lessons, Anthem and Mission. Also, Scars from Presto is a bit different.
I am a large Rush fan. Out of all the albums and songs, this is probably my favorite. I like Geddy's voice, Alex's guitar tone and Neil's drumming is great. This is probably my favorite Rush album, Signals. The album follow up to Moving Pictures.
never saw this before it fantastic and the lyric are so deep\
Wow, wasn't expecting this one! 😮Fantastic. Im hoping this will stay 'active' since many have issues 🤘
Rest in Peace Neil 🙏😌😭!
I was listening to this song when the news came across that we lost Neil.I cried for 2 weeks
Good One ,I love this piece.
Stupid trivia: the "Signals" album (one of my top three favourite Rush LP's) came out in 1982, the same year that my daughter was born. She is now a 42 year old mother of three. Damn! Do I ever feel ancient!! (Probably because I am....)
Originally from the Signals album from 1983 so amazing they had not done it before.
Love your enthusiasm and insight! Subscribed. Best wishes for all that you do.
Insuperable!!!!!
Incredible!!!!
Thx big time!
Always awesome
Here Again is a great bluesy track from the first album
So exciting..! The beat lyrics I believe Neil has put to paper. Just a masterpiece
Thank You !
'Signals' strikes again!
I love your reaction videos for RUSH, especially the way you smile when Neil does a drum roll. I would love to see your reaction to the live version of Cygnus X 1.
Had excellent seats at that concert in Toronto glad still wish they would did battlescar with max Webster dynamic
This song is very emotional to me. I suggest you listen to the studio version. It's so moving.
"Some are born to rule the world and live their fantasy,
Most of us just dream about the things we'd like to be."
Ain't that the truth? 🤔
Hi Redhead Neighbor! Greetings from South Texas. I'm sure it's been suggested already but "Roll The Bones" is a song I'd think you would really enjoy. Deep lyrics and a few twists and turns, which I know you would get a kick out of!
Some are born to move the world To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about The things we'd like to be
Sadder still to watch it die Than never to have known it.
As a teenager this was not one of my favorite Rush songs. As I grew older it became one of my favorites. So poignent and beautiful.
🙂
One thing I'd always noticed myself is that Neil had never ever replicated that cool snare drum fill in the studio version of 'Tom Sawyer' that happens right before 🎵"But change is"🎵! I wonder why?!
The Zemaitis bass is beautiful
