The F-4D variant was produced for the US Air Force, not Marine Corps. Best looking in my opinion was the Navy F-4J.
I'm bias to the F4 phantom because when i was 10 in 1970 my uncle Jack was home on leave for Christmas that year where he piloted the phantom in Vietnam, I was in awe, I had so many questions but he didn't talk about it, so I kept quiet. God bless all who served and to all who serve today. 🇺🇸

Was a engine mech on F4E's for three years. Brings back many memories even the time a spoiler bit me, got three stitches for that little attack.
That is cool as hell by the time I got a Marine corps these were long going but they were always talked about by a lot of the older guys as one of the heaviest hitters as far as ordinance delivery right behind the OV-10
