I couldn't decide for a long time which snare drum to buy, and eventually concluded that the best one is the one from the same series of drums as my set.

A&F drums with the higher tuning here. I mainly play Ludwigs and love a 6.5 black beauty but also have Acros and love um all. My fav is probably my 65 Supraphonic...with a COB bottom hoop. It's great to have different flavors to choose from for the tracks when recording.

The hammerec brass, could be called work harded,by hammering, definetly has a higher reflection, from the surface, and density of the shell after hammered.

A&F both is so nice and rich sounding drums. Of course Acrolite and Sugar is nice too. In simply live situations, I never like the Acrolite to much, but here it sounds very cool.

Presentations like this really expose the limitations on these media platforms. No mix by even the greatest engineers can duplicate the experience you and Sean had live in person with these masterful instruments. This really gives me hope for our cognitive work. For certain human engagements, we still need in person involvement. BRAVO, BRAVO BRAVO. (FYI; the Woodland P is "wifey" 😍😄😍😄😍❤️

I have a Ludwig Acrolite in 'Black Galaxy' finish, and also a Ludwig 'Supersensitive' 5 x 14" chromed finish. I actually prefer the Acrolite as it has a bit 'warmer' sound with less overtones than the Supersensitive. They have same batter and snare side heads and are tuned similarly. I understand the shell material is the same must be the coating applied to the Acrolite shell dampens it just a bit. That Gretsch hammered steel snare rocks.

The acrolite here is pretty average "middle of the road" sounding, and that's kind of the point of it. It always works fine and is never bad. That said, I prefer acros in lower tunings instead of the medium/medium-high more middle of the road tuning it has here
