Hi, I'm Chris! Welcome to my channel. I react to movies & tv shows hoping to represent what it's really like to experience them for the first time. If you enjoy, you can support me by liking the video, subscribing to the channel, and letting me know your thoughts in the comments.
This pushed my senses to their breaking point! Welcome to the Library and a world unlike any I’ve yet to encounter. Did I mention this is one of the best stories of all time?

Original Series: Doctor Who (2005)
Steven Moffat: Series 1 "Let's make everyone afraid of gas masks." Series 2 "Let's make everyone afraid of clocks!" Series 3 "Lets make everyone afraid of statues!!" Series 4 "Let's make everyone afraid of shadows!!!" Can't hide behind the sofa anymore. Also, hello to River Song, one of the best characters in DW.
LOL! I was thinking the same thing!! 👏😄
I met Steven last Thursday. He said to his wife he was only ever going to write one episode...then told her it was a double episode!
Yep, i hate statues because of DW. I hate spiders because of Shatner.
Ehhh, I was going to say something, then deleted it because it was too spoilery.
@@ms_scribbles
something about water and forests?
And we’ve arrived at last…The Library. Incredible episode. Hearing River say “please tell me you know who I am.” 😢 Gets me every time!
Iconic phrases from Stephen Moffat all before he became showrunner. “Are You My Mummy?” “Dont Blink, Blink and Your Dead” “Wibbly-Wobbly Time Winey”, “Hey, Who Turned Out The Lights?” “Hello Sweetie!”
"Spoilers!"
I love how emotional you got in the “please tell me you know who I am” scene. Alex Kingston is such a good actress
“Hello sweetie” is all I will say 😂😂😂😂
"SPOILERS"
From Unicorn and the Wasp until the end of this season is my personal favourite run of Doctor Who episodes. Absolute gold. ❤
Jack was a time agent in the 51st century, the spaceship in the Girl in the Fireplace was in the 51st century and the LIbrary is in the 51st century, all Moffat stories, he must like it there. Its was also namechecked in one classic who story.
The Time Agents were first referenced in the Talons of Weng-Chiang.
"Donna Noble has been saved."
What a moment. I don't think my nerves have been that amped up in quite a long time.
Dr. River Song is like the audience of a reaction video. She knows many of the future episodes and what happens to the future companions.
OMG this episode is so good. "I'm a time traveler, I point and and laugh at archeologists."
Then proceeds to point and laugh at a certain "Archeologist" when she's born
In the game Fallout New Vegas, there's a reference to this episode in the Old World Blues DLC where a particular enemy says, "Who turned out the lights?!" That enemy happens to be a skeleton locked inside a spacesuit.
It's such a small call back but twice before now the Doctor has referenced 'the little shop'. He mentions in New Earth that the hospital should have a little shop. In Smith and Jones he says 'oh you've got a little shop, I like a little shop'. And now we know why he likes the little shop 😅 because it tends to mark the exit
So excited you’ve finally met River.
A few completely innocent phrases that have no negative connotations:
Are you my mummy?
We did not have the parts.
Don't blink.
Who turned out the lights?
This library's filming locations are 2 amazing beautiful buildings in Swansea.
1. The main area that is round during the begining when The Doctor and Donna burst in that used to be Swansea's Library. I remember being a child and admiring the gorgeous Architecture of the building while reading. When filming for this took place the library was in the process of closing down to move to a new and larger building. All the books on the shelves are just made by the art department.
2. The part with the stairs where the doctor and Donna look out over the library is the Brangwyn Hall. It's got many functions but it's main function is an events and musical hall where lots of artists and orchestras play. Events such as weddings and charity events also happen here also. Beautiful buildings that i'm lucky to pass everyday.
I'm so happy to hear that the library used for filming was just moving to a new location and not closing for good.
Please note I released episodes 8 & 9 simultaneously for channel members, don't miss one of them :)
This two parter is one of my favorite stories in all of Doctor Who. I'm glad you're enjoying it so much!
Welcome to the beginning of what many people say is the best stretch of episodes in modern Doctor Who.
I have no doubt!
That's EXACTLY what I think about them as well.
Should have posted this last episode then, you're a bit late.
That started with voyage of the damned let’s be honest
From here to Capaldi’s The Doctor Falls. Incredible buildup.
The Vashta Nerada have got to be one of my favourite Doctor Who monsters. What a simple and terrifying concept:
The truth behind the fear of the dark. The idea that stepping into any shadow could have you devoured in a moment. And creepier still, the idea that they're everywhere, on most planets. The dust in sunbeams...
Criminal that they haven't brought them back in some way they was genuinely chilling when growing up the thought of not ever shadow but any shadow is just ooft scary
I watched this when I was 10 years old... Definitely made me fear the dark even more, I knew it was all fake ( the episode and all )
But that feeling that everyone has when alone in the dark... It got stronger for some reason
agreed about the nerada, but i think this two Parter could have been an amazing pitch idea even outside the DW universe, it hits all the right spots for a sci-fi horror show.
The idea that it's not every shadow. But it could be any shadow...
I’m not at all sure that they can return. No shock value left, not at all easy to write a sequel.
Although, if anyone can do it, the Moff can.
The river song story line introduction is something that needs to be again once you get to the other end.
Oh, CNR. You're never the same after you meet River Song. Welcome to one of the greatest characters in all of Doctor Who (that isn't the Doctor lol)
I would say including the Doctor! 😛
Spoilers…
Watching it again is the hardest thing, knowing everything about this episode and Rivers journey.
That "hello Sweetie" is absolutely 100% River Song. I saw this video pop up on my feed and I squealed with excitement! Could not wait for you to meet her. This was a Terror and Glee episode.... and it doesn't disappoint! (You may recognize her from a little show called ER in the 90s).
River Song is easily the greatest of all the greatest characters in the entire series. Her episodes are my absolute favorite, and I return to them on bad days, on good days, on stressful days, on slow days.... on cold days, summer days.... this episode (and then a jump to the left.... AKA season 5) is my comfort zone. Nearly all my favorite lines are hers.... and are muttered in my house almost daily.... and twice at Christmas.
But, as you do enjoy a good Moffett story, every episode he does is absolutely breathtakingly scary and beautiful and makes you want to jump to the next one.... preferably with the lights on.
River Song has arrived
I am so jealous that you get to watch this for the first time. What is best for me though, is seeing your reactions and thinking about when I first saw this episode. Season 4 is the best ever!!!
beginning of the streth of the best modern Who episodes across all seasons.
Lets goooo!!! Peak of the Whoniverse begins!
This two-parter is one of *the* best across New Who, and I *always* tear up at the last third of next episode.
Here. We. GO!!!
Loved, loved, loved this reaction. Thank you - it cheered me up no end while convalescing 😊 I also love, love, love River Song and had 'Hello Sweetie' as my text alert for years (now it's on silent). You will love her as much as we all do, I'm sure.
So excited for you to be at this point,,, can't say more "spoilers" 😜
“Who is he!? Who is she!? Who are we!?” 😂 that’s a real mood
So happy you've got to these episodes. It's one I'm desperate for tractors to get to. Their introduction to River Song is always brilliant. Can't wait to see your reaction to part 2.
I just love Steven Moffats understanding of Time Travel and willingness to do more with that premise than most.
That was the best reaction to those episode. 😂 I also suffered through 10 days of no AC in Florida. My sympathies.
"Please tell me you know who I am" and that's all it took for a truly unique first of a kind moment in Doctor Who 🤩
I remember being so so confused when this two-parter came out! Great reaction as always
It really is such an incredible idea for an episode. Well MANY great ideas.
Moffats ability to create fear, dread and terror from often quite innocuous elements made him a perfect fit for Doctor Who. When he takes over as series producer and creates long story arcs theg can sometimes be a little too complicated and difficult to follow for some audiences but for those who love to be challenged and not spoon fed their telly it can be a real treat.
Vashta Nerada are one of my *FAVORITE* creatures in DW, such a cool concept🥰
That moment you realise Prince Charming from Once upon a Time was in a Doctor Who episode 😂
Arguably two of the greatest Doctor Who episodes, ever. And there are a lot to choose from.
“Okay you seem-“ “Hello sweetie” “☹️” 😂🤣
Ha! One of the great 2-parters! Moffatt is so darn good! I honestly can't wait until you get to the Peter Capaldi seasons! Ugh it's gonna be a while. But thanks for reacting to DW!
Yes!!! I love this set of episodes, and I love your reaction! 😊
I have to say...halfway through, I was glad you put your coffee down. I remember when I first watched this episode...and yes, it has some fun jumps!!🤪
"And so it begins..." - Kosh, Babylon 5
I just used that referring to the first FB games of the college season on my Utah Fans message board! LOL
A board where my user name is Kosh, and has been since 2009
One of the best 2 parters in DW history and introduces one of the best characters and most original villains. Part 2 will make you cry.
Was so excited to see your reactions to many episodes this season but especially this two-parter as it is one of my favorites alongside the Ood episode. First, I love Donna Noble as I think she is the most relatable, second, so many amazing stories especially the Ood episode and a few you haven't seen yet, and third, River Song. I actually named my sweet doggo after her. She died a year ago today and I miss her.
12:36 did you see the paintings on the wall?....1 of a blonde girl, and another of a wolf! ;)
No thanks for that. I’ve never seen it before.
OMG Ive never noticed that before, the Robby the Robot keeps distracting my eyes.
damn now I'm going to have to frame by frame her whole house.
So they are! Thanks for noticing & saying.
This one was great! Very interesting and exciting! You had me laughing throughout the entire episode....great reaction!
I love this two-parter, and I loved your reaction to it. I was really identifying with your reaction. Definitely how I feel about it - especially the need to decompress after it. So scary! So confusing! And with the next part - just a fabulous story! This story really deserves a dramatic reaction. Thank you.
Superb edit. Excellent addition of subtitles exactly where needed.
The best writing in Doctor Who are those stories which terrify six-year-olds. Terrify a six-year-old and you've got a fan for life.
Getting to this set of episodes and this character was The Reason I started watching Who in the first place.
I liked the wood design of the security camera.
I’ve been waiting for you to get to this episode! Welcome to the beginning of a brilliant future/ past ahead!
One thing my mother always complained about in Steven Moffat episodes is the repetition. "Are you my mummy?" "Don't blink" "Who turned out the lights" "Donna Noble has been saved" etc.
We both agree that he wrote some excellent episodes, but she definitely complains about the repetition.
WOOOOOOOOOO!!! They don't make them like this anymore 🥲
Great editing on the youtube cut for this episode, Chris!
Yes, you absolutely do like River Song.
RIVER
Spoilers! 😊
Introducing Professor River Song so great she .
River Song! Such a great character. This two parter is such a wonderful one.
Loved your reaction! Thank you.
If you think about it, a frequent time traveler, sooner or later, would have to meet someone out of sequence - that is, meet someone for the first time who had already met him.
There’s actually a whole novel based on this theme, but if I tell you its name it will be a huge spoiler.
This is one of my fav two parters in the show! I was so hooked the first time I watched it
I love your reactions!! You are so great 😁 Thanks for sharing us!
Thank you for watching!! I love this show so much.
It’s like some alien demon thing!
One second later
It’s the Doctor!
I AM NO LONGER RELIEVED
This is really where Season 4 takes off...nothing but top tier stories from here.
15:21 Hey, who turned out the lights?
Imagine when this first aired, and we had to wait an ENTIRE EARTH WEEK to find out what had happened to Donna? There are so many questions at this point in the story......
This is your best reaction to Doctor Who yet... loved it 😁
This is ANYONE’S best reaction to Doctor Who.
River song is my absolute favourite. Donna is a close second. Martha is the third.
The brilliant Steve Pemberton 😂😂😂😂😂
This is one of my all time favorite episodes of the show! But let's not have any "Spoilers."
"I like her...River Song" Oh yes....Spoilers.
Honestly, appropriate reaction. Every bit of it. And the next part is not worse, so I'm eager to see you react to that
I am actually distraught coming back to this episode and seeing River's reaction to learning he's never met her before 😭
Interestingly your initial theory about the entire universe being inside the little girls head was very reminiscent of Azathoth from the Lovecraft mythos, and doesn't even end up being entirely wrong
I freaking love this episode so much, and the next one!
Not gonna lie - first time viewer here. River is my favorite character, so this is my jumping on pont for almost every Doctor Who reactor 😂
14:12 top tier commentary. You just got another subscriber for that
Welcome to the best two parter of the season, not counting the specials or the finale. The Vashta Nerada may not be the most cool looking or even marketable when it comes to merchandise, but it IS undeniably the most terrifying. You don’t know what they look like, and you never see them move. They are literally, every shadow and pool of darkness.
River Song. Without revealing much I can tell you that she is one of my absolute favorite characters of the show. Her whole story is shrouded in the perfect amount of mystery. I love the way she was introduced. Her backstory is so fascinating and arguably of of the best things any writer or show runner has ever created. I can’t wait for the next episode, it’s definitely the meat of this story. 😄
This story, both pieces, just fills my heart to bursting, with love, appreciation, fear, all the things it looked like you were feeling!
After seeing this episode I named my last car Vashta Nerada, because she felt like she needed a dangerous name 😂
It’s easy to miss but there’s a Ted Lasso connection in this episode! The very first information node Donna talks to is played by Sarah Niles, who went on to play a Doctor herself, Dr Sharon Fieldstone in the second season of Ted Lasso. I didn’t make the connection myself until just a couple of months ago, but I was happy when I realized.
Definitely a great name for a car! haha Oh man, that's so cool that Sarah Niles made an appearance. If they'd showed her whole head maybe I would have noticed 😅
Tallulah was in the St Trinians remakes. Russell Brand also starred.
And also married Elon Musk. Twice. Such a shame - I liked her until then 😆
oh Moffat...you...youuuu!!! oh Moffat
I was just thinking about this episode the other day! So glad that it's here :)
And so it begins...
River Song is my fav character of all doctor who. She's the best
This is one of Moffat's best episodes, and IMO his scariest (which is saying something).
Pointless trivia: The actress who plays Miss Evangelista was briefly married to Elon Musk.
Memory of a dead man echoing in circuitry. There's a story by Stanislaw Lem "Terminus" (Part of Space Pilot Pyrx cycle). A robot survivor of a spaceship disaster heard the crew communicating by Morse code tapping on pipes. His mind remembered and later... extrapolated the memories. Have a good night😁😋😈
The Donna
Edit: I can’t WAIT for you to experience River Song’s story it’s so incredible
Filmed in Swansea Guildhall, Ms Evangelista dies in the Council Chamber.
Love that the 6 Brangwyn continent paintings don't get a complete shot in any of Doctor Who or confidential.😂
One of the better episodes (two-parter) since Dr. Who rebooted.
A favourite 2parter
-Oh, I thought it was going to be something way more terrifying....
Oh, sweet innocent child.....
Just wait.
As a gay man, I gotta say this episode is when I became absolutely smitten with Alex Kingston. There could be a room full of attractive men, and her, and my focus would be completely on her. Her portrayal of River Song could charm, infuriate, and infatuate anyone. Absolutely love her! 🤩❤️
Ditto!
Ditto & I’m a straight old lady. Meeting Alex, Matt & Freema was close to the best day of my life. SO glad I bit the bullet & went to that convention.
the star one of the greatest arcs in all of DW.
You've just hit the stretch of the Who that brought modern Who to its peak. You've got 2 and a half more seasons of really good stuff ahead of you!
River song❤❤❤❤ hello sweetie!!
I can't believe your here already
Chris your light is ginormous!! So is your lighting lamp. 😊
For being a family show, Doctor Who certainly has its dark moments. Episodes and stories like this are the reason series 4 is an outstanding series. Thanks for a fantastic reaction 🎉
I love your enthusiasm with Dr Who! I can't wait to see your reaction to somethings with the next Doctor. 🤓
