    I never understood why people would spend time on creating tons of poor quality books. It is much more rewarding to conduct and enjoy the research and the creation process. That will put your head space into the ‘need’ of the customer. It may not be perfect but at least customers will appreciate the effort and say “oh cool that’s exactly what I had in mind”.

    I am so glad to hear a common-sense approach. The gurus whose videos are a few years old contain strategies that are no longer appropriate. Those include advice to automate the publication of hundreds of same-niche books. The idea is that it's a numbers game: the more you publish the larger your chance of making a sale.
    Your colleague Paddy at Stacking Profits did a video in which he created a cover design that exploded my preconception of "standing out" in this business. So much more time and thought involved that sets the bar higher. That is where I think KDP is headed as it continues to mature and evolve into other formats such as hardcover and even spiral-bound.

    I have about 450 books. All published in this last year and I do make a full time income now. But the big sellers for me, are in one niche. I think it can be a bit of luck, getting into a low competition niche, getting good reviews and then producing a good product as well. :). My best sellers are low content as well, rather than notebooks.

      It's only luck if you're randomly creating books.
      If you thouroughly research the niches you want to create books for first,
      then you would know which niches are low, med or high competition before you ever make the decision to spend time creating books within that niche.
      Otherwise you will spend many hours making books that will never sell, and not really know why books that did sell well, have done so.
      That applies to just about any product in retail.

      @@RagsToNiches Do you know of a decent book the way you describe it, thats written by someone that's similar in construction to one of your own? We don't need to know your niches or anything, but I'm producing lots of books in important niches and getting zero. I had already quit at Christmas, but got two sales in May. So, prompted journals I can do, but I don't understand what would make the difference between a high selling and a low selling one.

      @@pat4005 It's not just that, I mean, it's not the only thing - it's also the product itself, and what the constraints around making it, and how much is text, images, affirmations, where to build in the quality, how to create them in the first place (vis a vis sourcing better fonts, images, and whatever help needed from artists, designers, writer's help and sales and advertising.
      It's only about niches, once you already know what is possible, who your potential customer is, and what they would like.
      A LOT of people spend many many hours making books the wrong way, learning the wrong stuff, and producing things that will never sell in the absence of the right guidance. They will bark up the wrong tree, and continue to do so, until they eventually quit - with a half written novel left on the computer. That doesn't mean that they don't break their hearts trying everything they can imagine...

If the covers are high quality, and the interiors are the same in all, and one, in particular, strikes me as "the ONE", I think that's a good thing. I have several to choose from. If the covers are "spammy" looking, I do walk away and won't buy.

    It's sort of frustrating. I can't imagine how someone could really create a business this way unless you're looking at possibly a five-year plan as slow as Amazon is about reviewing a simple low content book. I mean if I have a couple of books hanging to go live for over two weeks or more then I can finally try again you can't really build up a nice catalogue at Amazon, can you? Unless you're looking at years of doing this I would think. Am I wrong?

    • @TheHomeBoss
      @TheHomeBoss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends what kind of books you are making. A lot of books get approved very quickly. But it really isn't about quantity at all, you don't need a lot of books to be successful. By the way, if your books are waiting to be reviewed, that doesn't stop you from creating more books in the meantime.

      @@badtupram Notebooks are taking a long time to be approved at the moment as Amazon are prioritising books with more content. I would continue producing and uploading while you're waiting, but I would venture into other books that are not notebooks. Try making log books or planners, notebooks are very competitive and you would have to make something really outstanding to get sales. The only notebooks I sell are funny notebooks for the gift market but I wouldn't be able to earn enough from notebooks. That's the truth. Others may disagree, I know there are people still making money from notebooks but it doesn't work for me personally.

      No you should make kdp amazon account for book publishing. You can'nt use fba account for this purpose.

    • @TheHomeBoss
      @TheHomeBoss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Whatever amount you spend on ads gets taken out of your bank account automatically at the end of the month. You need to connect a bank account to your kdp account.

    What if you love a particular niche, and it doesn't come up on the amazon search results? Do you think making and publishing the book is a good idea?

    • @TheHomeBoss
      @TheHomeBoss  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If it's not something people are looking for then you're not going to get many sales. But it could also be that people are not aware of it. If you can promote this niche either by social media or ads, you might stll get some sales. It's hard to tell unless you try.

    • @TheHomeBoss

      The answer is in the video and it's not an answer you can give in numbers. I know people want to know that if they make x amount of books they will sell y amount of books.... that's not how it works. Which is what I explain in the video.
