@@TheHomeBoss Yes, Nuria it is a good idea. Whenever I upload a book, it seems that it doesn't fit any of the categories so I end up putting it wherever I think but I don't think it is correct or even relevant!
@@EnglishwithBob1 don't worry too much Bob, the categories we choose are BISAC categories, they are not the same categories that the buyers see. Amazon will go from what you choose and from your keywords and put your book in the browse categories that they believe match your book best. Sometimes they do put them in odd places! If you just put them into fairly relevant categories, you'll be ok, but you can also ask Amazon to put them in 8 additional categories. Hi, Nuria! Another lovely video. I’m about 4 months into my KDP journey, and the biggest thing for me has been managing my expectations. I thought I’d be making hand over fist in income already after watching so many TH-camrs have done just that. On the average, how much do low content publishers make yearly? I see self published authors make less than $1000, but there’s no info on low content. I know you’re a research queen so I’d love to hear what you find!

Hi, many thanks for this helpful video. I wanted to ask if the spelling keywords matter. For example, words are often spelt differently in the UK as compared to in the USA. Should we incorporate the same keyword with both spellings separately?

Thanks Nuria. The 7 keywords are the most difficult for me. If you do an animal coloring book for example there seems to be just a few keywords to use. Definitely a long way to go to get this right.
Don't worry Judy, we all tend to overthink the keywords. I think it's important to remember that we don't have to fill in all of the slots, just use the keywords that are relevant, that is more important than having lots of keywords. I will make a video about it soon.
It is not possible to know search volume but there is a correlation between search volume and product sales.

Humm, hello. Thank you for the video. It is very helpful. However, I need to ask. The extensions are not working on the incognito tab. Is the problem from me or do I need to also sign in to my amazon account in the incognito tab?
You have to enable the extensions for incognito, go to the settings of the extensions and you'll find it there.

Thank you Nuria, Very good information. One situation that is happening to me while doing manual campaigns is the keywords on phrase and broad, it's like a catch 22. I have more clicks on none related search word phrases then what is related. It's like if you are using the word "Journal" as a keyword for your Gratitude book but someone types in "Bible verse journal" (but you never included "Bible verse" in your keywords) and your Gratitude Journal is displayed to the customer and they click on it...but of course they don't buy it because it's not what they are looking for. I do add them to the Negative keywords "Exact" but no telling how many other none related keywords will be used and clicks I'll get from none interested buyers....I have a feeling this will be a long testing process. However, information that you provide helps out tremendously, thank you again.
Unfortunately it's not an exact science and keywords for ads are another story altogether. You're doing the right thing by placing them in the negative keywords, and running ads is, as you say, a long testing process. All the best to you.

Hi, I make self help journals and planners for Etsy. My journals are lined, but the lines don’t go all the way up to the end of the page. What format do I follow for the interiors of the book for Amazon?
That's called No Bleed.
Are we still supposed to enter the long-tail keywords that are highly competitive, or long-tail keywords that are less competitive in the 7 keywords boxes? Because in my case, I only found 1-2 long-tail keywords that is less competitive for my notebook, but I still entered all the other keywords because I'm not sure if I should enter them or not.
The important thing for me is to enter keywords that are very relevant to the book. So if the keywords are not 'relevant', don't enter them. They can be long-tail or short tail, I like to use a mix of both. There is no science or method behind it, every book is different.

Would you recommend unpublishing and republishing with new titles some early attempts that missed the mark with titles as far as keywords?
Don't republish same book under same listing rather upload new one. Unpublishing and republishing give you some advantage that amazon may treat as gaming the system
I don't recommend unpublishing unless it's absolutely necessary. I would probably just publish new books with the improved titles if they are low content books. If they are high content or books with unique content like colouring books, then I would unpublish and publish the new version. But it also depends if they already had sales and if so, I would definitely not unpublish.

@@GraceCase Is it a unique interior? In that case I would probably unpublish... saying that, is the title that bad? You can try changing the keywords in the back end.

If you are publishing your book in Spanish (with Spanish title and subtitle and Spanish description) then your keywords should also be in Spanish.

One night I was scrolling through Amazon in the computer and iPad stuff when I came across a password book. I was surprised to see one there in the mix with computer stuff. How did they manage to do that? It wasn't under the book category I guess ?
It would have been the keywords that placed it there. They may have added a computer related keyword as many people use their password books for computer related things, but it really doesn't help them as people would just ignore it and continue to search what they really needed.
I’m a newbie to kdp. I self published a book the old fashioned way in print. Now I’ve put it on as an ebook and soon it will be available on Amazon as a paperback. The title is Homeless Harry. Inside the cover I have a sub title. Can I put both the title and sub title on kdp when I upload it? Thanks 🙏
Yes, the title has to be exactly the same as on the cover. And you can put the subtitle in the subtitle slot.

You can change your keywords by going into the kdp dashboard, look for the book you want to edit on the bookshelf and click on the elipsis (...) on the right to your book. There you will find options to edit your book.

And yes, it's about searching for low competition results and then analysing the BSRs. If my book name is Dino coloring book for kids and my 7 keywords should be
1. Dino coloring book for kids ages 4-8
2.Dino coloring book for kids ages 6-10
OR
Dino coloring book for kids ages 4-8 6-10 in same box . Will amazon index both as Like scenario 1 ???

When you say Dino, do you mean dinosaur? Because Dino doesn't mean anything to anybody so I wouldn't use it as a keyword. Secondly, I would not repeat any keywords, so if you have Dino coloring book for kids ages 4-8, I wouldn't repeat the second line. Also, you need to be specific about the age groups, a colouring book can't be for children ages 4-8 and also for ages 6-10. It needs to be one or the other.
