    Your videos are so great because we get to see how the sunscreens interact with makeup! I love how dermatologists like Dr.Dre can recommend good formulas. But she doesn't wear makeup, so can never tell you how it'll appear under foundation. I always come here to check if you've covered the products!

    Yay! I love your sunscreen reviews. We seem to have similar preferences for the look and feel of a good one. So happy to have found innisfree (from your channel...I think) and the reboot (from your channel for sure). They make a good pair.

    I love this sunscreen when I go hiking because it literally doesn’t budge or run into my eyes. Ive never tried it under makeup though. It definitely leaves a film on the skin and a white cast, though I’ve noticed it fades over time.

    I feel somewhat the same about this spf, I’ve only used a few times but as w all of my daily sunscreen applications I follow up w a tinted spf like the DRMTLGY universal tinted under my eyes and around my nose . I don’t wear foundation, I just use a bit of concealer and use the tinted spf as a base. Still prefer to use Korean & Japanese SPF for my base layer. I would love a clothesline. Hang drying definitely helps w the lifespan of clothing. I hang dry everything but bedding/towels & have had some pieces for yrs & yrs. Love your sunscreen videos❤️

    I tried to wear this sunscreen but had to give up. Wore it two days in a row and it made my skin feel so, so tight as the hours wore on. It was a very uncomfortable sunscreen for me, but my sister doesn't have the tight sensation I had with it and likes it.

    Hope you review many more!!!

    You're correct about the white cast for sure. I have this one too and use it under my Paula's choice tinted lightweight spf 30. Two things I like about this one: price point and that this one actually dries down and doesn't transfer throughout the day off my combo skin.

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, the price point is great, the white cast - I'VE HAD MUCH WORSE - it's just that there's something about these milky sunscreens that make me uncomfortable and feel greasy to me.

    Once you had all your makeup on, you looked fine; like the cast wasn't that detectable. I'm 10 years older than you and also of Scandinavian/German descent, so I have very fair skin. I had a similar, though difficult to describe, response to the LaRoche-Posay products. It felt like I had something gritty on my face and the cream was too watery. The Cetaphil Mineral Fluid sunscreen has been an easy to wear product for me, but it leaves a cast even on my fair skin. I agree that it doesn't feel "right" under foundation. Clinique makes a similar product, so I'm giving that a try. My skin is very easily irritated and I get laser treatments for broken capillaries too ( long standing issue with rosacea ) so most chemical sunscreens irritate my skin. However, Dr. Dray recently reviewed Eucerin's new line of sunscreens and informed her followers that the chemical sunscreen does not contain oxybenzone, which is the chemical that causes the most irritation. I tried the SPF 50 product today and it did not irritate my skin, but I found that it can't go anywhere close to my eyes because it causes stinging as the day wears on. The rest of my face feels comfortable after 8 hours of wear. Hint: it is a good idea not to brush or rub your face too much if you are challenged with broken capillaries; it causes them to break down easily and create "flushing" which leads to more redness and broken capillaries ( learned this from my dermatologist). :)

    You should try the Bodyshop sunscreen spf50 with a high UVA protection.

  • @christian5707
    @christian5707 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well that was on my to try list but I’ll check that off the list. I can’t stand overly greasy feeling sunscreens especially under makeup! Thank you for the review, you just saved me some money and aggravation 😂😉
    I also have a clothes line and I find myself using that more than my dryer. There is just something therapeutic about hanging clothes and linens out to dry, not to mention my clothes and linens seem to last longer and look better. ☀️

    I so appreciate these reviews. I wear sun screen daily and some days I need waterproof. I really like the “wardrobe “ idea. Still looking for the dream screen thought I had it in Mychelle but then my skin raged against the use. Thank you.

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mychelle is a little drying and I'll more often use it to tint a white mineral. Also, rotating sunscreen is helpful - kinda gives a skin a break from the more drying ones.

    I have this sunscreen but couldn't even bring myself to put it on my face after swatching it once. I will pass it on to a teenager who won't care what it looks like. also, I don't know why there are chickens in the outro, but I so enjoy them!

    I tried this one and ended up using it on my neck and chest. I didn’t mind it for the winter but it does feel kind of heavy and I prefer weightless feeling in the warmer months. I didn’t like it at all on my face. Like you, I didn’t care for the feel of it and it made me shiny.

  • @juliegoerke721
    @juliegoerke721 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just bought this sunscreen a few days ago and I really like it. I have used many different mineral sunscreens and I like the finish of this one the best. Skinceuticals makes a thin, liquid sunscreen and it would be interesting to compare the Cetaphil to that one. Skinceuticals also has a tinted liquid that I would be interested in trying. I am 59 with normal to dry skin and I don’t find this sunscreen to be heavy at all. I have tried others that always seem to stay wet, where this one dries down to semi-matte. I find that the thicker mineral sunscreens like Elta MD UV Replenish and Elements (which I mix since they are almost the same except the Elements is tinted) look very shiny and stay tacky even though I don’t wear overly moisturizing skincare underneath. I have a slight white cast from the Cetaphil, but it is easily covered by makeup. I’m fair skinned and my current foundation, the NARS Light Reflecting in Mont Blanc, is very light and blends in easily. I then use a little powder either Laura Mercier translucent or Charlotte Tilbury in the lightest shade and it mattifies the t-zone without looking dry. I have to be careful not to use too much powder or it will look really dry and flat. You didn’t like the feel of the sunscreen before foundation, so you might not care for sunscreens that have a silicone feel to them. I usually don’t care for the silicone feel, so this one was a surprise in that it actually dried down and I lost that feeling. This just shows you that it is such a individual thing and everyone’s skin is different.

      I sent this to Tamara at Tamara's Timeless Beauty and she loves it. I simply dislike this kind of formula (tried the skinceuticals as well, and sent to back). There's something about the texture I find off putting and uncomfortable. It's just a personal thing - Tamara told me it's her fav drugstore sunscreen.

    Good analogy. I now considered the density of the sunscreen, there some very liquidy or super thick. I bought a mini scale, keep it in my vanity and measure 0.76 g no matter what. There are videos that measure the size of the face and is around that amount.

  • @one4blondes

    If I like a sunscreen but the cast is too white for me, I add a few drops of MyChelle liquid sunscreen, available in a few shades. I can customize the # drops to how heavy the cast is if it's a heavy vs light weight formula.

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the MyChelle that way as well. It's bit drying (not too back) but to add a little color to my more "white-ish" sunscreens, it's a great little helper.

      @@TheHoodedLid I bought it the other day and have worn it all day today. I absolutely love it and I don't say that lightly!! (I usually avoid tinted ones). It's not drying, blends really well (used the full 1/2 teaspoon), no foundation needed on top and no stinging or sensitivity and looks great. My only con would be it can stain clothing, so I didn't put it on my neck, used other spf. I'm so impressed. It might not be my "everyday" around the house spf, but if I'm going out with friends etc this will be the one! For sure worth trying!

    I find chemical sunscreens even if I keep them away from my eyes once they hit bright sun send off such strong chemicals that my eyes get irritated. It’s very uncomfortable for hours. I’ll just have to have white face.

    • @TheHoodedLid
      @TheHoodedLid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't. There's some controversy about UVA protection and how accurate the "+" system is. But, that system is better than nothing - many US companies don't provide UVA data.

    No! They lost me at the white cast! The summers where I am are very hot, 40c+ and I can’t find one which doesn’t slide off or go stringy or make me sweat even more!

    Love your sunscreen reviews! I have dry skin but unlike you I have texture. So I struggle finding sunscreen, foundation and powder that doesn't cause problems somewhere between those three issues.
    I feel like I have found a sunscreen and foundation but now my powder is to glowy. But I need a powder that kind of mattifies without being to dry!
    I might try the By Terri powder🤷

      I didn't find it drying - so yes. My issue is this kind of formula has something in it (maybe a binding agent) that feels "icky" to me. I really don't think too many people have that same association.
