    Instead of ranting why shipping restrictions exist and how complicated it is to host an International giveaway, it should be motivation for all of us to start out on big projects and be the ones to host giveaways in our unlucky countries.

      Yeah that's basically how I see it too. Most of the channels I subscribe to are only able to offer US only competitions, Australian ones seem pretty uncommon/rare, so figure I can help out a bit in my region sometimes 😁

    The nano is more tinny. Had it and tried to record an audiobook with it, but will switch over to the larger model. It has “that broadcasting sound” as someone once described it.
    Good for everything else, just not my purpose.

  • @WallyWorld
    @WallyWorld 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Sound designer/Recording Production Major here, the nano is better for anyone who wants a definitive answer from an experienced source. Yeti just happens to hold more recording modes essentially, the nano was a big upgrade for yeti!

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool thanks for sharing, is that because of 24 bit with the nano? Maybe I should swap to using the nano as my primary mic over the yeti and not only for travel!

    • @WallyWorld
      @WallyWorld 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@JarrodsTech Yup! The condenser capsules are essentially the different modes, the only benefit it gives you is having those two extra microphone recording modes (the stereo & bidirectional modes share a condenser capsule in this case) but however the most important practical effect of bit depth (16-bit vs 24-bit) is that it determines the dynamic range of the signal. In theory, 24-bit digital audio has a maximum dynamic range of 144 dB, compared to 96 dB for 16-bit but today's digital audio converter technology cannot come close to that upper limit. But as far as it goes now, other than the additional modes for specific workloads the nano gives you better Cardioid quality!

    I can tell the difference. But hey if still get the smaller one as my business doesn't revolve around ultra clarity in sound but nice comparison. Just find it odd how the smaller has more bits. But 1 less driver. But yeah most of those stats were kinda useless in microphone terms.
    20hz-20mhz is what the human ear is capable of defining as sound. So to save that stat as a buying point is kinda odd. Cause your not gonna hear it. Maybe see it in post. But I did find it odd how it seems to be digital distorting your voice. We're you alot closer to the mic for the second?

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah I know, though to be fair Blue don't really publish many more details for either on their site. I tried to sit the same distance for both, though my yeti has the gain knob on a custom setting, the nano has no gain knob so has to be controlled in software.

      Hmm I haven't tested it with background fan noise so not sure how it will handle that. When I record I strip ambient background sounds with Audacity, but if you're streaming/talking in chat then that's not really an option unless there is software to try isolate your voice.

My only question to those who have used both is: Is the mic gain in Blue Yeti Nano rather limited, in the sense that even if you crank it up to the max it still not loud enough for recording in Audacity? How can you maximize the microphone gain in Blue Yeti Nano?

    Nano sounds very compressed. Might be good enough for most uses, but definitely way worse than the regular Blue Yeti.

      I wouldn't say "way worse", but you can definitely tell it sounds cheaper. Not a huge amount, but it's less warm and a bit more harsh on the ears.
