Nadine, as a woman of 57 years, I enjoy your videos, they are practical, informative, unpretentious and your presence and delivery is a pleasure to watch. You have given me more than a few tips on great products. Its really refreshing to find someone in my age group who looks great and shares how you stay that way. Cheers! Debra
A very very important thing to know - ceramides can only work to improve barrier function if the product is formulated in a very specific proportions with 3 part ceramides, 1 part cholesterol and 1 part free fatty acids. If the manufacturer does not claim to use this specific requirement it most probably doesn't. Very popular brands based on ceramides do not follow this rule like cerave; dr jart; elizabeth arden. Yes, they are nice moisturizers, but they will not improve skin barrier in case of damage the way proper formulas would. Also, la roche posay cicaplast does not contain any ceramides, same for Ordinary NMF.
Yes was wandering if someone would comment this .. research shows it should be a 1:1:1 to 3:1:1 ratio.. and also the % used in some of these formations are not sufficient to even do anything ...
I have to say I still love the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide capsules I like a lot of Elizabeth Arden Capsule products I had forgotten how great they were...♥️🇦🇺
Nadine, hello from California. I’ve been watching you for 1 year + and enjoy every video you make. The history of companies and the ingredients they use (or don’t use) is very important. Add-in your obvious intelligence and great personality and it’s must-watch TH-cam for me. Thank you for continuing during this awful and scary epidemic.😷🌞
You are splendid, Nadine. So much useful information in a short format. You point out exactly the information one need and provide always a variety of options for high and low budgets. Your personality is absolutely lovely and makes each video a pleasure to watch. Just delightful.
Hi Nadine, Mixa has a body moisturizer with niacinamide: Mixa Body Balm Calming Atopiance For Very Dry Skin Soothing Face Body, INCI: Aqua/water, Glycerin, Petrolatum, Paraffinum liquidum/mineral oil, Niacinamide, Glyceryl stearate, Cetyl alcohol, PEG-40 stearate, Butyrospermum parkii butter/shea butter, Cetyl palmitate, Dimethicone, Ascorbyl palmitate, Chlorhexidine digluconate, Citric acid, Coriandrum sativum seed oil/coriander seed oil, Echium plantagineum seed oil, Glycine soja oil/soybean oil, Panthenol, Prunus armeniaca kernel oil/apricot kernel oil, Ribes nigrum seed oil/black currant seed oil, Sorbitan tristearate, Tocopherol. Mixa is a French brand (little sister of Bioderma I believe, but don't take my word on it), available in drug stores here in Czechia and probably across Europe. This particular body lotion (sadly their only one with niacinamide) is marketed for extremely dry skin but doesn't feel heavy and sinks in right away. I bought it for my 3-years old son but sometimes use it myself.
I remember using the Elizabeth Arden ceramics capsules in my late teens. I used to save my pocket money to buy them. I learnt about ceramides from reading Paula Begoun's "Don't Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me" book back in the day!
Hi , oh I have a jar of eye ceramides Elizabeth Arden , , I haven’t used mine yet but I will start tonight, my scalp is very sore , so I will ask the doctor by phone next week .
Switch to washing your hair with a gentle fragrance free conditioner for a few days (co washing) as shampoo will irritate. Try using fragrance free shampoo when it heals up a little. Ask your pharmacist for a scalp tonic for irritated/eczema/psoriasis skin, which may give relief meantime.
I didn’t know that the ordinary nmf is such a great product. I’ve been on and off with that Moisturizer but it’s cheap and effective, I might just change into using it for now.
Thank you for educating us in a no nonsense and non biased way. You are honest & trustworthy. Love that you realise the need for beauty on a budget & cater for all price points. I'm looking forward to to day when you can be reunited with the other "Beauty Hag". Sending much love to you & Yogi. 😘

I used the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide moisturiser but it used to tingle very slightly after each application, could that be because my skin didn’t like the formula or is a slight tingle normal?? 💐💐

I love your videos Nadine. I am wondering if there is a reason for the ceramides to be very low down on the list of ingredients in most of these creams? The ordinary rely very heavily on hyaluronic acid in most of their products. if you check the ingredient list on these two then you'll find HA quite high on the list. Not everyone can use HA as it needs a lot of hydration to pull from and can sometimes make dehydration worse. Humid weather is the best for HA and if your weather isn't you need to spritz your face with water between each layer. You also have to seal it in with an occlusive moisturiser or it will evaporate drawing hydration from your skin at the same time. Other humectants like glycerine or beta glucan may work better for you. Try spritzing your face first and sealing it in, if that doesn't work then reply and I'll offer budget alternatives. Hope that helps.
