Sue Shaleh yes please. I use several products and don't really know what order to use them. I do use them from clear to opaque but when do I use the vitamin c? Do I moisturize last? When do I use my oil? How often do I exfoliate? What is a good routine when I derma roll? So many questions! Peace and love ❤️
Also what is the best way to get the most efficient use of my clairisonic? I am currently using it every morning. I use a mild face cleanser. Peace and love ❤️
Unless you forgot to take makeup previous night, I would go with clairsonic at night. Skincare products, pollution, makeup need to be properly cleaned in order for night products to work/penetrate into the clean skin. It mildly physically exfoliates skin (not as good as chemical exfoliators though such as BHA or AHA or alteration with Vit A). Be careful not to over cleanse/strip off the skin of its natural ingredients, but you will feel it and adjust accordingly.
Nadine I was a student at university in Italy and I used to be fascinated by Helena Rubinstein Vitamic C vials you could get in expensive perfume shops! I've always been obsessed by skincare. Today I use OH Vitamin C Truth serum in the morning and The Ordinary 23% in the evening when I'm not using Retin A. No reaction whatsoever on my skin. No tingling, no burning, no redness. And no peeling so far from Retin A! Thanks for your recommendations they are so informative. You rock!
Marilyn R I would love to know that as well. The Ordinary regime says not to use Vitamin C with Niacinamide. But Niacinamide is in my night cream. So confusing.
I'm a chemist and I work with Ascorbic acid and I can't tell you how brilliant it is to hear someone who is actually knowledgeable about the chemistry. Brilliant content thank you
Thanks so much for this information. I use a 20% vit c serum by timeless every morning. I have no problem at all with it. I have used it now for at least 2 years. I have the ordinary 23% and I found out quickly that it won't work under foundation. My question is can I use vit c from the ordinary at night with my Retin a? I do use both at night on my chest because of so much sun damage, but have been afraid to do it at night...thanks so much for all your videos, and how you explain things in such details...xoxo
Nadine, you are a breath of fresh air! We think we know what we're doing for our skin, but I'm learning so much from your chats. Thankfully, I was blessed with good skin genes, but I've always taken good care of my skin. Thanks to you, I'm seeing places in my regime in which I can do better. I'm so sorry about your missing kitty. I o hope he shows up soon. Thank you so very much! 🌸 Lisette
Your videos are the most useful ones what I ever seen on TH-cam. :) Could you please make a video of sunscreens, sun protection?? Like affordable and high end recommendations? Would be so much appreciated! Thanks 🙃☺️
Thanks Nadine. Very helpful to know that Vit C isn't necessarily a "shouldn't" product to wear during the day but rather a "couldn't" because of the base it is delivered in. I've never had luck with it during the day except when I make my own. I now use the Ordinary and alternate nightly with Retin A .1%. I put the Ordinary hyluronic acid over the Vitamin C which seems to melt those granules nicely and it spreads more evenly. Not sure if this is counter productive but that's what I have been doing.
I use the Ordinary Vitamin c in the daytime and have no problems with absorbtion or pilling ass long as I out it on right after my toner. I then wait 2 to 3 min and continue with my moisturizer with SPF and the makeup.
Nadine, been waiting patiently for this fabulously informative video, since you mentioned doing it. I have been in the beauty industry for a longtime and since I was a teenager, many many decades ago (52yrs old !) I've always looked after my skin. But I can honestly say, I have never really noticed any visible benefits to anything I've ever used. All I seem to benefit from is hydration from them.I have a lot of pigmentation from sun damage from when we never knew back in the day. What I'd really like to know is, if people like me who can't afford IPL and lasers really would get the results from these products without having the extra help. All of the people I watch, who say they work , have all had other more intensive treatments, you included. I am starting to get more cynical as I grow older, and of years of misinformation from people using plastic surgery, and strong cosmetic treatments saying a 'cream' worked and did it. I love you and your videos and find I trust you the most, but it is a concern for me and all of us out there I'm sure, that whilst we continue to grow old and yet everyone in the media gets younger looking ! LOL
I am surprised that the Drunk Elephant brand is not included in your review as it seems to be a favorite of so many. I tried it and it caused me irritation and breakouts. Perhaps I need a lower concentration percentage. Thanks for the information.
So glad I found this channel! I am, belatedly, just getting serious about skin care. And, really, for all of us, even if we think we know what something does, a reiteration is always helpful. It's a morass out there in the beauty/skin care industry.
Fi wheatley I second this! I have combination skin and find it very hard to get a good spf, I just started using lactic acid and I'm relying on a rimmel BB cream as it's spf 25 and isn't breaking me out
Fi wheatley I also would like to know about SPF creams ready for warmer months. Ones that can go under makeup or over and that are a bit higher factor than my daily moisturiser.
They are hard to find right? Well nice ones that go under makeup - the best high street one is the Olay Featherlight - the best expensive one I like is the Skin Ceuticuals SPF50 ... I also swear by mineral SPF20 powder from Jane Iredale X
You have such a talent for explaining things in a way that is easy and keeps the viewers attention such as the way you explained anti-oxidants and skin oxidation. I really enjoy watching your videos and learning about the content that you discuss. Please keep the videos coming!
I know this might not be applicable to everyone but... I feel like The Ordinary 23% Vit C has minimised/completely got rid of my under the skin little spots that I acquired as soon as I moved to London (highly polluted city). Is this because of the antioxidant properties, but working their magic on my skin in a different way? I'm not sure but all I know is I'm in love with this product!
Hi Nadine! I wanted to thank you for stating that L-ascorbic acid was the primary ingredient in a good C serum. I was waiting for The Ordinary's suspension for quite awhile & see it's still out of stock & they don't know when it will be in. I found a couple on Amazon, so got that out of the way. So, a big thank you!
The ordinary vitamin c you mentioned that it stung for a couple of hours. So I went on ordinary site and ask could you mix it with cream or gel. They said yes to slowly get used to it which I was happy about.I thought I would let you knew.
New subscriber! I am so excited to start giving my skin some love. I've been neglecting it for, oh, more time than I care to admit! I heard that sweet kitty cat purring and giving little miaows as if to say, "Yes! I agree!"
I just checked out the Indeed24 - it's actually 22% Vit C + 2% hyaluronic. Bit misleading of them. I love my Ordinary 23% (I've even come to love a bit of burn lol) so I won't be switching. The price difference drives me mad too, why are other brands so expensive when the Ordinary have proven that it can be done so cheaply?!
There is actually a difference in quality of ingredients so most likely this can be the difference. It is not always the case, some brands use cheap ingredients and then give a high price tag. It is like how skirt steak is cheap and filet minon is more expensive, both steak, but one is just much better. Or how you can have pure essential oils or cheaper, watered down ones. High price doesn't always mean quality, but it can mean the product is used with better ingredients.
I don't agree. And this is nothing against brands like Skinceuticals etc. but the cost of ingredients does not warrant the high price. The Ordinary isn't marking up the same way other companies do. I am not saying don't buy high street, but I have found exact dupes for Skinceuticals that cost around $30 CAD. Ascorbic Acid as an ingredient is just not expensive. But, packaging is. So I would focus on companies that offer air tight packaging so the product is stabilized. All of Nadines suggestions are great though. So any one of those would be ideal depending on your skin type. The clinique looks very interesting and its mild so can be used during day.
Rena Dempsey notice I said not always the case , there is differences sometimes ,' not all the time , so again, I repeat I said sometimes the difference is due to that .
I totally understand! And agree in some cases for sure! I just think the whole skin care market is getting turned upside down by brands like The Ordinary. Meaning, we now have the Zara of skin care...and when I look at the cost of some products, and I don't mean the really beautiful ones...like bottle stunning, branding stunning, I mean like, a $200 face mask from Sisley? Seriously...LOL :)
Great video. I like to use L-ascorbic powder and make my own, fresh, so it doesn’t require the pump oily stabilizer. ... Then I seal it with a cream that works for me and evening primrose oil. I like it at night to prevent exposing the C to sun.
That DLC one sounded interesting, but upon checking the ingredients list I was hugely disappointed as a chemist. Furanocoumarins & limonene? I mean... WHY, DLC? :DAnyway, this is just my two cents on the topic. Lovely video! Keep up the awesome work! P.S. My 2x favourite Vit C serums are the SkinDeva 25% Vit C + E + Ferulic (water-based, lovely during the day, oxidises in about 6 months time with proper storage, which is not an issue for me, personally, as I go through it in about 3 months) & Paula's Choice Resist Superantioxidant Serum with Vit C (silicone-based, higher stability).
Great to know! I couldn't agree more...as soon as I read Limonene....pass!!!!! Like seriously. It's in so many serums too...Clarins, Sunday Riley etc. It's so offensive to skin it just get's me! I will look up SkinDeva. Never heard of that brand.
I seriously could not tell the diff between this one...or the Skinceuticals or the Obaji...EXCEPT IN PRICE!!! :) Would love to know your thoughts...www.amazon.ca/20-Percent-ml-20-Percent-0-5-Percent-hyaluronic-concentrated/dp/B0049OLZ84/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487426458&sr=8-1&keywords=cosmetic+skin+solutions
Skincare containing unnecessarily high levels of alcohols, fragrance or essential oils are such a let-down, considering how much experience, knowledge and evidence-based studies we have collected over the past 20 years. As for SkinDeva, I highly recommend the brand as a whole. They are very similar to Timeless Skincare as a company, marketing strategies, but much more customs-friendly and better customer support for UK consumers, in my experience. Needless to say, this is my personal opinion & experience, so it is open to being challenged and criticised, of course.
Agree...not to brand shame but like Lancome or YSL serums as an example? Could they be any more fragrant? Personal opinion only but it's like putting perfume on my face...no thanks.
You're so helpful! I'm interested to see/hear your thoughts on SPF for use with foundation as I find it problematic. Have you done anything I can refer back to or if not please might you add it to your 'to do' list. Many thanks for your sensible approach.
Up Mayo I'd love to know about the spf usage as well. I rarely wear any foundation, and prefer a 'natural' skin more often. So I'm finding I'm having to apply a light foundation just for the spf benefits, and I don't seen anyone !!
Up Mayo I use Clinique City Block under makeup with no problems at all. In fact it has a slight tint to it so I can get away without foundation in the Summer when I have a bit of a glow.
I use both without signs of irritation, but keep in mind I have been using tretinoin 0.1% (5 nights a week) & L-AA 25% (7 days a week) for more than 3.5 years, do not have sensitive skin, but it is reactive (I hope that makes sense to you).
I purchased Dr Lancer advanced radiance cream. It's air tight, pump action. I've started using this at night as a 'moisturiser' after cleansing, then using AlphaH. Am I on the right track, Nadine? Your videos help demystify the science behind skincare. Never stop!!
Thank you for this, I came away with a lot of things I didn't know. Regarding Vitamin C I started out with the Ordinary 23% without any prior knowledge. And Oh Boy did I have some unpretty reactions. Had to give it up at one point. It oxidized on my clothes, my sheets etc. too. Today I use the Obagi ZO Health 10% serum and it has created some wonderfully visible results. It also has the most pleasant thin texture. I combine it with ZO C bright wich is slightly more moisturizing. During the daytime I follow up with Daily Power Defense and then sunscreen 50+ to seal the deal.
Hey Nadine, great and informative video! I have the ordinary vit c serum and have been using it at night as you have recommended, but am unsure on whether I should use only that, or also later other moisturisers on top of it. Will other products interfere with the activeness of the vitamin c powder? Thanks :)
Maria Wang I put my Vit. C on then wait for about 30 minutes and put on my moisturizer. I personally don't use anything else on that evening because the Ordinary V.C is pretty strong I read on their website.
Yes, apply the Vitamin C first and as J Reedy said wait about, I say 10-30 minutes before adding in your essences, serums, oil then moisturizer, in that order. And let your oil have a chance to soak in for about 30 minutes before topping off with your moisturizer. Do NOT use a Retinol on the same night that you use your Vitamin C serum. Use them on alternating nights. 😊
Nadine... You really are the Beauty Know-It-All~! This was so informative. I feel intelligent on this topic now. Enjoy your thorough approach: ingredients, strengths, efficacy, makeup, different brands... Wonderful! If possible, please tackle Vitamin B3/Niacinamide next. That is a truly powerful ingredient with instant results. Brilliant! Thanks again Nadine. :) PS: The cat's meowing was too cute in the background. ^^
I would love to her about this, as well. Apparently Niacinamide has been rediscovered by the Industry and is helpful for a whole host of skin care related concerns. I have seen one or two products that combine with HA, which seems to be a nice combo. I have been mixing the Ordinary HA with the Ordinary Niacinamide and have been enjoying the effects at rock bottom prices.
Thank you for replying, yes freshly wash and only put moisturiser on after an hour or so. I've got the L'Oréal hydro genuis too, yes you're right about the fragrance but at 6.65 on offer at boots you can't go wrong. Keep up the amazing work 💗xx
With the risk of sounding ignorant, I'm confused about medical grade products. I use a lot of the Ordinary/NIOD products and then I read that they aren't as effective as "medical grade" products. Would you mind clearing this up?
So true, cosmeceuticals is what Dr.Dray calls this "medical grade". Also, when she says "they made this one smell like oranges", I cringed as skin care should not smell good, added fragrances are highly irritating.
PLEASE can you do a day time and night time rouitines so we can see what order to use things! I'm really wanting to start using retinol/vit c etc. but have no idea what order to use in! A beginners guide to these routines will be AMAZING!!! xxx
Hi Nadine! I just found your channel and I love it! I have been using Retin-A for about six months now and I'd like to incorporate vitamin C into my nighttime routine how would I do that? Would I alternate nights between the two or would I use them both on the same night? If I alternate nights will I still see results? Thank you
Hi N C! Nadine answered that in an earlier post and she said to alternate days if using both in the evening. So use the Retin-A or any other Retinol on one day then the next day use the Vitamin C, and so on and so on. Lol! I hope this helps.
Alternate nights for me ... as I use Retin A four nights a week and vitamin C three nights at 23% ... don't layer them or your irsk irritating your skin more than it will be on this regime X
Hey Nadine =) I'm a bit confused with how I should use The Ordinary one you mentioned. Should I keep rubbing until it stops feeling gritty or should I let it stay on top of my skin? Thank you in advance.
I'm doing a video on the best way to use it, coming up in the next week or two. For me, I've found the best way is to leave your face slightly damp. Wash it with water or dampen it, then pat dry. But leave it slightly damp. Apply the Vit C. Rub it around, real good. LOL. Go get dressed or brush your hair or check on something in another room. Just give it about two minutes. Go back, finish skin care routine. It soaks right in during that time and the prickling will also stop. If you do not wet your face first, you will have to wipe granules off afterwards. They do not dissolve. I've done that too when I havent felt like washing my face. But now I just dampen it with a washcloth first thing. (I"m still using it in the morning.)
For those with sensitive skin maybe this bit will be helpful. Revision Skin Care has their Vitamin C in Squalane and for me it doesn't tingle or sting as high as 30%. The also have a 15% in Squalane.
Vit C/day and Retin A/night (same day) or switching off nights; you can actually use them together but that is for someone without sensitive skin that has been using both for a long time.
I have been using The Ordinary vit C on your recommendation for only 2 weeks and there's already a marked difference in my skin, the only way I can describe as it's looks 'brighter'... the only niggle as few people have mentioned is it can stain your pillow, BUT my skin is looking great, so its a small price to pay.
+Nadine Baggott , I love to watch you and this video was very informative and Educated me in Vitamin C, now I've got to go back and watch about Retin A. I would like to know how you feel about DIY Serums. I have been watching people do DIY vitamin C Serums and not just from some sort of Pinterest Recipe but from people that have an education about the skin and you can get good quality Vitamin C powders that is water soluble and you can mix it with Aloe vera gel and distilled water and make a serum that can last a week. There were showing that it really cost dollars to make if you just want Vitamin C and not the other stuff they put in the Serums. The people that I watch really doesn't stand to gain anything so it doesn't seem like a gimmick.
Gosh, I use 23% every morning and it doesn't tingle at all now. I have skin of steel! And I use it right after using 7% glycolic acid toner that I've boosted with a few drops of 50% glycolic acid, then I follow up with alpha lipoic acid and ferulic acid. I think I'm going to start adding more l-ascorbic acid since I want to use as much as I can comfortably handle.
Hi Nardine I think I have offended you with all my questions As you did not reply I am so sorry You make me feel so happy as you are always so full of life With Love Barbra x x x
Hello Nadine ! Just a note on the gritty texture and makeup. Like you I prefer to use my vitamin C at nite but I have found no problem using them under the loose powder mineral foundations such as Bare Minerals. Bonus is that they have an SPF 15 !!💜
I have just discovered your channel and I am really enjoying your informative videos. I am currently waiting on a order of ordinary products including the vitamin c 23%. And the retinoid 2%. I have seen quite a view negative comments about the vitamin c and the gritty texture and was so relieved to watch your video regarding this product the texture and how the product should be used. Thank you soo much
Hi Nadine, I don't suppose you could say precisely how one should use The Ordinary 23% vit C could you? I put on The Buffet followed by Hyaluronic Acid and then the Vit C. The grains/grit seem to gather together but I don't want them to fall off so I put moisturiser on. The moisturiser seems to dissolve the grains and it all goes in. Is that the right way to do it?
I find The Ordinary's vitamin C formula bad to the point of pointlessness. If you want to use vit C and don't want to spend on one of the really good formulations, I would just dissolve L-ascorbic acid directly in a bit of moisturizer in the morning. Measure everything out so you know how much gets you a 20% mix. Then just do that, and don't worry about the problems that The Ordinary's weird oil mixture causes!
Love your channel! I've been using Drunk Elephant C Serum for about a month highly recommend it. It does tingle at first but is easy to get used to and it soaks into your skin so sunscreen and makeup goes on over it easily. Have ordered more of this line and am loving them all worth the $.
Wonderful explanation video on skin care on Vitamin C or on any product I've ever seen. You break it down to a layman can understand and I truly appreciate it. It can get overwhelming so that's why I appreciate you so much.
Mik Taormina i have but i do like the ordinary better. but i did notice no stinging with the ordinary i think because i used the timeless for 2 years .
Mik Taormina , I have been using Timeless serum for the past four months during daytime , surprisingly I don't see any lightning of my hyperpigmentation spots on my cheeks. Maybe I should switch to night alternating with retin A. I am a bit confused, did Nadine say to use higher concentration than 10% at night even if they are water based serums like Timeless? Can someone please explain. thanks
ummarham 96 I've been using the timeless for about 2 years now and love it. But to get rid of the hyper pigmentation you need retin a at nite. Which is a no brainer for that and wrinkles 😊
ummarham 96 I'm not I believe and been proven vitamin c is for am, to protect your skin from free radicals. I'm not going to use anything else besides the retin a at nite 😊
I just discovered your channel and watched so many of your videos! I´m totally addicted by now. Thanks for your informative, light, documented way of explaining skincare. And you´re so beautiful!! I wish you´ld do a video on Italian skincare! grazie!
Can you review the ordinary Argireline Solution? It sounds quite good especially for preventative. Also really love your videos, very informative especially for such skincare geeks like myself. Oh and can you do a body skincare for very dry skin??? Thank you:)
I ordered the best body lotion I’ve tried in a long time recently from Kiehls. It’s called Creme de Corp. if you can get it where you live, it’s very good.
Aww the lost one didn't return then. Sorry to hear that. I've heard amazing stories of cats returning ages after in unbelievable circumstances so don't lose hope. I'm sure if you shared a lost pic on social media it'll be shared like crazy & you never know who might see it. If only the chip had GPS tracking! Why don't they do that? I'd be beside myself if I lost my Kizzy. I've had her from 10 weeks & she's 17 in May. She's an indoor cat, I have to coax her to even sit out with me on the balcony in the summer!
MSL5 I know I felt the same way! But I prayed for the little one. Praying and doing the leg work like posting pics outside, on social media, at pet clinics, calling all the pet shelters, even letting neighbours and workmen/women in the area know, helps a ton! And man, just like Scattyfi said, PUT A DARN GPS on those microchips for Pete's sake!! This would save ALOT of needless loss and pain and we can do it now!! Sheesh!!
The best Vit C product I've found so far is Skin Actives Scientific 20 percent, a U.S. Company. Their Vit C is not tacky or oily, nor does it contain silicone which clogs my fine pores. It absorbs pretty quickly so I can use it in the morning, my preferred time to apply when I can get the benefit of extra UV protection under sunscreen. In the past, I've tried Cellex C (the original promoter of Vit C serums), Skinceuticals, and many other high end brands in addition to less expensive brands like Timeless. Skin Actives is better on all fronts, IMO. The pre-mixed Vit C has an excellent ingredient list and they also offer a DIY mixing kit if you want to go that route. Highly recommended.
Hi Nadine. I thought your explanation was clear and concise. I've been using the skinpep 15% vit c e ferrulic serum for over a year. It's very similar to the skinceuticals (having compared ingredients), but at £14 is much better priced. I'm happy with the ingredient deck as it also contains peptides and hyaluronic acid. It's fragrance free, alcohol free etc and performs well under my normal skincare, spf and makeup. This allows me to alternate my acids and retinols in the evening. I found it tingled for the first few weeks and I go through a 30ml bottle in 10 - 12 weeks using face, neck, chest and back of my hands. I use the ordinary alpha arbutin serum over it and never without broad spectrum spf. I tried the ole henrikson, but it was quite heavily fragranced (at least to my nose) and I avoid synthetic fragrances (due to eczema) wherever possible. For those who are interested skinpep is a cruelty free range and available online @ skinpep.com. Best wishes.
I have gone a bit mad with The Ordinary products and bought nearly all of them, but hands up I am confused as to how I can effectively layer them, their menu is not v comprehensive can y help please i.e. Should hydralonic be used as a layer product and the one before moisturising, and their Vit C ( slightly gritty) can/ should I be putting on something on top of it, ? using at nighttime as you suggest.. I know you have given us feedback on some of their products, but more of them would be super helpful. You are such a fantastic presenter of prodyucts, no frills, upfront with a lovely warm personality,, and you know your stuff, thank you x
Your videos, Nadine are super informative, tx for your generosity!! I watched Dr Dray's contribution, and as a dermatologist her take on Vitamin C is that it is too unstable to assess except anecdotally and I get her point. I use a combination Vit C hyaluronic acid serum (she hates that word, so what) in the morning under my sunscreen and light foundation and for me, it makes a huge difference, so I would say to people; try it. The drawback of being a cautious professional is one cannot endorse the fact that some things do get tested randomly in our population and if it's not dangerous or expensive it's worth it. In my case, absolutely. Once again, tx!!!!! I would add for other subscribers who have had a bad reaction to Vit C serum that anything over 20% is going to be a disaster. I use All Natural Advice vit C Serum, Amazon, not expensive, and apply maybe 4 or 5 drops to damp/slightly wet skin, let dry, a few minutes and then moisturiser with SF factor. I think without the moisturizer -- my skin is oily so yes, necessary! it would not work for me and if this is helpful to anyone, that has been my experience. Cheers! The good side of the internet when people help each other!!!!!
You are the best. Love you channel. A company could come out with a vitamin C duo, with one product for daytime use and the other for nighttime use. I've been using The Ordinary vitamin C product. It does tingle on my skin, but I haven't had any skin irritation with it.
Thank you for this. I really needed to hear all of this. I bought the Ordinary 23% and was so disappointed, it felt horrible on my skin and reacted with my sunscreen and make up so I gave up. I will stick to using this at night and get a 10% for the day x
If you like the Skinceuticals, definitely try the Timeless version. Almost identical at a fraction of the cost. As I mentioned below, I decant into a small container, keep the larger bottle in the fridge and go through it all with no oxidation.
I liked the idea of the clinique products so much. I ordered them both along with a morning moisturizer with sunscreen. I know I have sun damage. I swim daily in a pool. I just can’t do w/o that activity is the summer. I thought I’d use the Vitamin C products now and move on the Clinique Retinol product at night over the winter.
Hi Nadine, you might want to know that you are a great example to so many women - how to look 30 when yu are over certain age. I always say - 20 (just high mileage!) we'll done and thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us! LOVE watching you! xx
OMG you are amazing. So much wonderful information. I now know why every time I used the Ordinary vitamin c during the day I got incredible pilling. I will now definitely be using it at night.
This is brilliant! I want desperately to learn about ingredients and how they work. At my age I am over buying the latest craze or a product because I was attracted to the packaging or the smell (and yes I have always thought Vit C should smell like oranges lol). I need products with great ingredients that have proven to work. Thank you for breaking the science down so I can understand it.
This was so incredibly helpful! I have the indeed and never liked it in the morning so stopped using it as I thought Vit C was a morning product. Thanks for helping me get best use out of my stash 😊
Oh.My.Goodness! So much information packed into one video!!😁 Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I will definitely be referring back to this video as needed.
Just a comment on your cat. I have never had a cat who talks like the one I have now. He’s a Norwegian Forest Cat, and the minute I get on the phone, he’s there to have a conversation with me. My niece at one point lived with me, so whenever my daughter talks to her, and she’s on speaker phone, Paris starts talking to her. She will talk to him, and he will actually talk back to her. I love that your cat is so vocal too. He’s been with us since he was a kitten, when we adopted him. My grandson was born in 2008, so he’s grown up with Paris, and Paris just turned 17 in April. We’re so fortunate to have had him so long. He’s been much more clingy lately, which makes me nervous. I’m enjoying your video, and all the information you’re giving, but I’m also loving your cat trying to be included.😁💕
I am so surprise you did not mention Paula's Choice 25% vitamin C spot treatment ! Have you tried it ? I did and it really did something on the sun spots I have on my cheek but it is on the pricey side though ! I am actually using the Ordinary line and I have to say that I am quite impressed !! Could you talk about niacinamide, ceramides and peptides in the future ? Thank you Nadine I really appreciate your videos !! 😊
Hi Nadine! I wanted to mention something about the Indeed Vitamin C24....It is actually 22% ascorbic, 2% HA. They then list it as "Vitamin C24" which is tricky!! In that case, The Ordinary is the higher of the two! Interesting huh!
I use the Indeed Lab C24 and use it in the morning and at night. You can wear it under make-up, no problems. Also, brilliant for fading red marks left behind from acne.
Please would you do a night time routine. so we can see what we can put on and in what order.? thank you.
Kensington Guest House I second that.
Sue Shaleh yes please. I use several products and don't really know what order to use them. I do use them from clear to opaque but when do I use the vitamin c? Do I moisturize last? When do I use my oil? How often do I exfoliate? What is a good routine when I derma roll? So many questions!

Kensington Guest House yes, exactly, wish I'd read your comment first Kensington Guest House!
Nadine I was a student at university in Italy and I used to be fascinated by Helena Rubinstein Vitamic C vials you could get in expensive perfume shops! I've always been obsessed by skincare. This was so interesting. Thanks Nic xx
BRAVO 👏. This was, by far, the best clarification of vitamin C in terms of anti-aging that I have ever watched. Thank you 🙏
Thank you yet again Nadine. Amazing information. I would love a video of what products we shouldn't be using with others at the same time.
Marilyn R I would love to know that as well. The Ordinary regime says not to use Vitamin C with Niacinamide. But Niacinamide is in my night cream. So confusing.
Marilyn R
Do u pat it on or massage it in?
“Pilling ass” great typo 😊❤️
Hi Jos, I had a really bad experience with Drunk Elephant; CeraVe seems to be the perfect solution for me, not expensive. Cheers!
So glad I found this channel! I am, belatedly, just getting serious about skin care. And, really, for all of us, even if we think we know what something does, a reiteration is always helpful. It's a morass out there in the beauty/skin care industry.
The tingle was unbearable with the Ordinary at 23% so I had to wipe it off after an hour but I did notice my skin looked brighter the next day
I can not believe that I've only just discovered you, fantastic video. Thank you.
Love, love all the info, can u do an SPF for face video. Thanks
Yes that would be good.
They are hard to find right? Well nice ones that go under makeup - the best high street one is the Olay Featherlight - the best expensive one I like is the Skin Ceuticuals SPF50 ... I also swear by mineral SPF20 powder from Jane Iredale X
Nadine Baggott I'm on an olay budget, and I know my skin handles olay well so I'm going to try this, thank you for being so helpful :) x
I agree!"
Katie Eisenhower same cat currently sitting on my lap purring x
Rena Dempsey notice I said not always the case , there is differences sometimes ,' not all the time , so again, I repeat I said sometimes the difference is due to that .
linda mccreadie very interesting info...i also use the ordinary vit c amongst most of their other products 😁😁
Your just amazing ! Best videos on TH-cam ! Have you tried the NIOD 30% vitamin c serum ? Any thoughts ? Best wishes xx Danny
Your channel just showed up on my feed! Where have u been all my life! Thanks!!!
I can't see the full list of ingredients, so I would not be able to give my ingredients-based opinion. Apologies.
Agree...not to brand shame but like Lancome or YSL serums as an example? Could they be any more fragrant? Personal opinion only but it's like putting perfume on my face...no thanks.
FINALLY!!!!! Someone who knows what and how to explain this stuff so we can understand.!!! THANK YOU!!!! With all of my heart, THANK YOU!!!!!!
You're so helpful! I'm interested to see/hear your thoughts on SPF for use with foundation as I find it problematic. Have you done anything I can refer back to or if not please might you add it to your 'to do' list. Many thanks for your sensible approach.
Would love an SPF one and how and when to use it.
Charlotte Cliff-Atkins
Which SP Factor do you use?
Factor 40
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! PLEASE DO ONE ON HYALURANIC ACIDS AND ONE ON ALL YOUR FAVES FROM THE ORDINARY!!!!
what about drunk elephant vitamin c you didn't mention it
Great video Nadine! I use vitamin C products and never even realized they were available in those high percentages!
please could you tell me if I can use retinol and vitamin c together? or do I do 1 or the other so 1 one 1 the next.
one one night, the other the next or you risk further irritation X
Thank you. Loving your channel.xx
I use both without signs of irritation, but keep in mind I have been using tretinoin 0.1% (5 nights a week) & L-AA 25% (7 days a week) for more than 3.5 years, do not have sensitive skin, but it is reactive (I hope that makes sense to you).
Todor Koev do you feel this combination has made a big difference for your skin?
I am the kind of person that needs evidence in order to both try and stick with a certain alteration in a given regimen. In other words, yes.
I was watching Melissa55 and happened on your channel and I'm so glad I did! For the first time in a long time I wanted to take notes! Thank you!
PS: The cat's meowing was too cute in the background.
This is meaningless marketing fluff. :) There is no such thing as "medical grade" of most skincare products.
FitChickGlows oops I didn't see it. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me!
Alternate nights for me ... as I use Retin A four nights a week and vitamin C three nights at 23% ... don't layer them or your irsk irritating your skin more than it will be on this regime X

You have a new subscriber! You are gonna be my skin care guru!
Hey Nadine =) I'm a bit confused with how I should use The Ordinary one you mentioned. Should I keep rubbing until it stops feeling gritty or should I let it stay on top of my skin? Thank you in advance.
Filipa Lourenço good question.
Thank you so much for the help, I will try that from now on and I'll keep an eye out for that video :)
Let me know how it goes for you!
For those with sensitive skin maybe this bit will be helpful. Revision Skin Care has their Vitamin C in Squalane and for me it doesn't tingle or sting as high as 30%. The also have a 15% in Squalane.
Very informative thank you. I'm using the ordinary 23% at the moment should I alternate this with retinol/retinoid or are they ok to use together? xx
Apparently, I have read do not use Vit C and Retinols together...
Vit C/day and Retin A/night (same day) or switching off nights; you can actually use them together but that is for someone without sensitive skin that has been using both for a long time.
Do alternate days if you're using both in the evening, don't use the Retinol and the Vitamin C at the same time. 😊
Hi Sarah
No, instead alternate them on different nights - or your risk irritating your skin X
Sarah Trotman alternate
Hi Nardine I think I have offended you with all my questions
As you did not reply I am so sorry
You make me feel so happy as you are always so full of life
With Love
Barbra x x x
Hello Nadine ! Just a note on the gritty texture and makeup. Like you I prefer to use my vitamin C at nite but I have found no problem using them under the loose powder mineral foundations such as Bare Minerals. Bonus is that they have an SPF 15 !!💜
I totally wouldn't mind your cat presenting the video with you. Meow and all.
Then just do that, and don't worry about the problems that The Ordinary's weird oil mixture causes!
i know its going to be a good day when i wake up with a notification!!!!
hey I wanted to ask what do you think of drunk elephant skin care ? x
Am keen to try it - bit it's hard to get here in the UK and it's £££ right? X
Love your channel! I've been using Drunk Elephant C Serum for about a month highly recommend it. It does tingle at first but is easy to get used to and it soaks into your skin so sunscreen and makeup goes on over it easily. Have ordered more of this line and am loving them all worth the $.
They have an extremely solid ingredient list. They are one of the few companies that is results-focused as well as having elegant formulations.
Genevra Li Yes, they make great skin care. It's just way too expensive for what you're getting.
Wonderful explanation video on skin care on Vitamin C or on any product I've ever seen. You break it down to a layman can understand and I truly appreciate it. It can get overwhelming so that's why I appreciate you so much.
Have you tried timeless brand?
Which is a no brainer for that and wrinkles 😊
melissa pintone , yes i am also on retin A .01%. Do you use timeless serum in the morning?
should we switch it to night routine?
ummarham 96 I'm not I believe and been proven vitamin c is for am, to protect your skin from free radicals.
Nadine, I love your science-based approach to beauty! 💋 Thank you!
Did you find your cat?! 🐈🐱
I had a hard time hearing anything she said after that:( Why do people let their cats outdoors??
MSL5 I know I felt the same way! But I prayed for the little one. Praying and doing the leg work like posting pics outside, on social media, at pet clinics, calling all the pet shelters, even letting neighbours and workmen/women in the area know, helps a ton! And man, just like Scattyfi said, PUT A DARN GPS on those microchips for Pete's sake!! This would save ALOT of needless loss and pain and we can do it now!! Sheesh!!
Yes!
If you use Vitamin A as well as C what order do you put them on at night ?
Jennifer Southin You alternate the nights. Never use them both on the same night!
You don't have to alternate. If you have a GOOD vitamin C formulation, it's good to put on in the mornings.
Hi! Im so glad Ive found your channel. You are such a great presenter. Im a huge skincare lover so I will keep watching your videos.
Please do a night time routine.
I just ordered the Clinique Vitamin C, I can't wait to try it out.
I found ole henrickson transformation cream has made a difference to my skin 🎀
It hasn't done anything for me so far except give me breakouts.
Have you ever used Drunk Elephant's C?
I haven't used it, but it is an excellent formulation. Far superior to The Ordinary. It will be more effective at a lower percentage.
>It will be more effective at a lower percentage.
Do you have any data proving this? Ascorbic Acid is notoriously unstable in water.
I love your videos! I just received some items from The Ordinary. The 23% vitamin C was one of the items I ordered. Can't wait to see some results.
I’d love to see an updated version of this video featuring the likes of Glow Recipe Pineapple C-Bright serum!
You are my go-to person for seriously useful information about skin care products. Thank you for educating me about Vitamin C.
Another wonderful video -- thank you for sharing your knowledge and products tested. The Indeed example, specifically, is quite a good find!
Thank you for this. I really needed to hear all of this. I bought the Ordinary 23% and was so disappointed, it felt horrible on my skin and reacted with my sunscreen and make up so I gave up. I will stick to using this at night and get a 10% for the day x
Thank You Thank You. I'm new to the world of good skin care and I found your retinol advice invaluable. Thank you for doing a Vitamin C version also.
If you like the Skinceuticals, definitely try the Timeless version. Almost identical at a fraction of the cost. As I mentioned below, I decant into a small container, keep the larger bottle in the fridge and go through it all with no oxidation.
Nadine, give the new Sunday Riley Vitamin C serum a go. It's great for daytime and works good under makeup with no rolling.
Such clear advice, your knowledge is wow.i like the way you don’t rush. lot to take in, but that’s good. Thank you
Hi Nadine, you might want to know that you are a great example to so many women - how to look 30 when yu are over certain age.
So much information packed into one video!!😁
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I will definitely be referring back to this video as needed.
I love your review very smartly done. You talk with certainty. I learned so much about vitc because of your review. Thank you.
Thank -you Nadine...you explain everything very clear and easy to understand.
Thank you....I’ve been a bit confused by people saying they love it/ they hate it. Now I understand better. NOW...please go cuddle your sweet kitty❤️
I just found a new skincare guru! Thank you!
skinceuticals does have a 20% Vitamin C serum-I use it every day
Timeless has a 20% C, + E and ferulic acid in the same kind of bottle
Hi Nadine! I wanted to mention something about the Indeed Vitamin C24....It is actually 22% ascorbic, 2% HA. They then list it as "Vitamin C24" which is tricky!! In that case, The Ordinary is the higher of the two! Interesting huh!
This is the best video that was well explained and I love it!! I’m only 21 but I have started using Vitamin C due to my dark spots.
Amazing explanation! Packed in most of what I know about vit c, and a bit more. Love this
I use the Indeed Lab C24 and use it in the morning and at night. You can wear it under make-up, no problems. Also, brilliant for fading red marks left behind from acne.
