    I have 2 kuhli loaches in my 15-gallon medium-planted tank with about at least 50 red cherry shrimps. They seem to go along just fine, with the smaller shrimps even crawling right above the kuhli loaches.

      @@jarleabelhaugeek1217don’t suggest or condone it but I keep 4 yo yo loaches with my orange shrimp, Cory cats and neon tetra. It’s a big heavily planted rock and wood cave 20 gallon setup, I see new small shrimp often. Pretty against the rules but I think the presence of the cories and all the hiding spots and plants make it work

    We moved my betta to a new tank. A 10-gallon, upgraded from a 7.5 gallon. We're planning on getting some new shrimp and turning his old 7.5 gallon into a shrimp tank, so I'm glad there are some videos like this that can help us figure out what kind of other things to put in there.

    I'm thinking of adding shrimp to my daughter's chili rasboras aquarium. They seem too small to bother the shrimp.

      I have a school of chilly rasboras in a tank with two shrimp colonies (blue dreams and babaulti) and the get along just fine. Never experience the rasboras even looking at shrimplets and they are almost the same size as the adult shrimps. A perfect choice I believe!

    Bettas can have very distinct personalities with shrimp as tank mates, and similar to what you said, I've heard from lots of people that it's best to house them separately at first to see if the betta is aggressive on its own, and then introduce the betta to the shrimp tank instead of vice-versa, as even docile bettas can be territorial. My chill, curious boy mostly ignores his shrimp roommates now (and they usually just chill and do their thing on the bottom until he goes to sleep), but for the first couple weeks after introducing shrimp to his tank that he was already living in, he was angrily chasing them around. Fortunately he doesn't have any interest in eating shrimp or snails, but I was so worried they were gonna end up a snack or hide forever before things settled down

    I have neon, cardinal and ember tetras, as well as 2 plecos and I’m constantly having to rehome excess shrimp from this tank because they are breeding so much! No issue at all with baby shrimp being eaten as I’ve got a heavily planted tank for them to be able to hide!

    a really good addition for people who want something big in a shrimp tank are vampire shrimp/bamboo shrimp. I have a vampire shrimp thats about 5 inches long and saw him catch a fry in his fans and spit it out when he tried to eat it so theyre 100% safe

    • @jazzkatt1919

      They're wonderful, aren't they? And they're true nano fish that can be kept in a decent school in a small tank. I'd have serious misgivings about keeping regular neons in a 10 gallon, but with green neons it's no problem. I absolutely adore them.
      Another of my favorites made this list: pygmy cories. I have a school of 8 pygmies with one of my bettas, and they're absolutely captivating. Lots of tiny fish school, but in a way that seems sort of...impersonal, for lack of a better word. The pygmies really interact, and seem to really enjoy each other's company. Lots of personality in such a little package!

    • @debraskaggs7897
      @debraskaggs7897 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So sorry I totally didn’t finish that comment. The blind betta ate like 10 of my shrimp till I pulled him and put him in a new tank. But the other bettas do really well with the shrimp. I have 3-10gal planted tanks and 3-5 gal planted, 2-3.5 gal regular freshwater tanks. I was always told how easy shrimp were but the only thing I knew was how easily it was for me to kill them. However after some much needed research and watching your TH-cam videos, now the tanks are thriving. I need to start selling them because they are doing so well. So thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!!

    My betta fish won’t tolerate any other living thing in his tank, he’s alone in his 55litre planted tank. I tried adding him to a shrimp tank, with a betta tank on standby, and he harassed them into hiding, that was enough for me. Since realised the shrimp are happiest at 24-25 degrees, my betta does best at 28 degrees.

    Loved this video. I really want to get a tank with some moss & shrimp & fish way down the line. What shrimp do you suggest to put together? I really like: Sulawesi shrimp, tiger shrimp, and the bee shrimp. Can they be together?

    • @BlakesAquatics
      @BlakesAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, they all require different water parameters so sadly dont mix well together.

    • @BigShrimpin416
      @BigShrimpin416 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can’t mix shrimp species. Every species requires different water parameters. Not as easy as it may look. Shrimp can be very sensitive and finicky. The easier shrimp to keep are Neocaridina, they are the least sensitive but the Taiwan bee and Sulawesi and tigers are much more sensitive and need more specific water parameters.

    My double veiled fin betta is a junvinile and got introduced to a heavily planted shrimp tank because I have never seen such a chill betta. He doesn't chase or hunt for the blue velvet shrimp. They are also much faster than him. One shrimp noticed him looking at him and jetted away. My betta just watched him swim away and didn't chase. My betta also doesn't bother the 2 mystery snails in my tank (unlike my last one, who chose war with anything that moved), doesn't flare at all and swims right up to my fingers and plays. It's so weird, but so far so good.
