      A selfish heartless one at that! It triggered me a few times....ok, the whole video triggered/pissed me off! I never had loving and caring parents like her(so many ppl didn't or don't)and for her to lie about them while they was alive, steal, murder her devoted father and almost killed her devoted mother, and still lie on them after one's deceased and one just barely pulled thru is so horribly disgusting!!! Karma came for her and not only took away the man she loved(and her children's father)just like she did to her mother. I will never say that cancer is punishment for doing bad towards others, because sadly the most sweetest and awesome ppl fall victim to it and experiencing it up close and personal, I wouldn't wish that horror on my worst enemy.

      @DelphineCingal 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Recent historical and criminal studies in France lean towards the idea she really was a victim of incest but it was taboo, especially in the middle and upper classes, to mention this as a possibility. Not too sure she was blessed. This might also account why she had to lie and resort to prostitution to escape her background. You might not want to describe her family as caring and loving in that much of a hurry. If you speak French, listen to L’Heure du Crime on RTL on the subject where the historian on the show seemed to think it very likely that her father had abused her...

    • @allanlindsay8369
      @allanlindsay8369 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DelphineCingal hello and greetings. Well given the evidence supplied HERE one could hardly describe her mother as NOT caring, she forgave Violette and stuck with her own flesh and blood throughout it all - what a woman. Violette did apparently claim mental and physical abuse when in court, but that's what she would do isn't it? One could and should point out there are "two" Violette's here, one prior to being religious and one post being religious, the one prior was a cold, conniving, calculating bitch, the other a reformed soul which is what true religion is supposed to achieve. After she reconverted to her Catholic faith becoming a model prisoner in the process, she retracted those claims of abuse against her father, IF they were true why would she do that??? People can and will speculate all they want but PROOF is what is required. Does L’Heure du Crime on RTL provide HARD PROOF? Given the language you use such as "lean towards the idea", "possibility", "not too sure she was blessed", "this might" and so on and so on, it seems obvious they don't provide such PROOF.

    Never lie or be ashamed about your family and/or your past! Like my Health teacher in high school once told our class--if your friends cannot accept you for who you are, they are not worth your time or heartache--THEY ARE NOT TRUE FRIENDS. I am an only child as Violette was, and am very blessed to have smart and successful parents (My mother is a Registered Nurse; My father is a Family Physician). My grandmother used to tell me on many occasions to always be grateful for my parents. This was such a shame--Violette was obviously very smart academically, and her parents supported her throughout her education; Her mother was practically a saint to forgive her for what she did.

    Huh. Wasn't expecting the surprisingly happy ending. It isn't often we hear about a person on crime documentaries who did something terrible as a young person, gets caught, feels remorse, and then turns their life around. No excuses (at least, not after the conviction), takes their punishment, and tries to better themselves.

    Esteemed sir, you tell these true stories with compassion, not with disdain nor in a manner that bespeaks of judgementalness. Thus, these "true crime" tales do not leave me with a sick or queasy feeling, which I truly appreciate! I'd love to "pick your brain" about your method of researching these accounts; I know I'd find your techniques and the amount of time you've been writing up and presenting these cases on TH-cam and any other venues.
    Perhaps what I would most like to ask you is exactly how you have available to you such consistently well-taken photos of courtroom activity as well as police efforts to identify and capture the 'guilty parties.' I'm quite impressed that photographic quality and composition was as good as it apparently was in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Is it a complicated process to gain permission to use these photos, and do you ever crop the prints yourself? I ask because they fit so well in the available space and they retain very well what must be their original compelling quality.
    I'll understand if you wish to keep your secrets just your own. Also, I recognize that I do ask questions which could require lengthy answers, so perhaps I'm asking too much. If, however, you took one of these stories to use as a case study of your many talents, I would find that quite fascinating. Whether you wish to do so or not, you have an avid group of followers, and I'd be pleased to be numbered among them.
    kris k.

    Thank you for another thrilling true story from way back in time. You know, I've listened to many of Brief Case episodes, and there are SO MANY MURDERERS. Murder, actually seems quite common early on the 19th Century, and that's only known by the murderers that are caught. I can't help but wonder, just how many people got away with murder back then! Maybe even nowadays! Again, thanks for the stories!

    I feel so sorry for that poor mother. I can't imagine what she went through. Did Violette snap or was she just cold-blooded? We'll never know. I am glad that she turned her life around, though, and I am glad that people gave her a chance. This is a pretty obscure case here in the US. I've only read one very short account and seen a "Timeline" episode before this. Thank you for covering less well known crime stories. I get really tired of the same stories again and again.
    I have a few requests regarding future episodes:
    Carl Wanderer - "The Case of the Ragged Stranger" covered by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur
    Dr Arthur Warren Waite - The Killer Dentist - straight out of a mystery novel
    Toni Jo Henry - I know she was a killer, but I still like her. Oh, and she's supposedly a ghost now 👻
