    I'll never go back to shooting hyperlapses without some super-dark ND filters. I'm addicted to that sweet motion blur!

    At sunny days I’m always keeping the ISO of my Mavic mini 4 pro in auto mode and the shuter speed at 1/1000 ~ 1/2000 with no filters and that’s given me a great results.

    I agree with you, I don't spend much on ND filters. I only wind up using a few of them. Great video, and thanks for sharing.

    Billy awesome rantrial lol I have the all day 8 pack from Freewell and most of the time I have the nd/pl 16 on the front of my camera. ISO 100 f4 or 4.5 1/120 60 fps and my videos are pretty good on sunny days. There are times I bump the filter up if that Guam Tropical fireball in the sky is just blasting down so much light. Now that nd1000 makes awesome photos when dragging the shutter to 1" and the nd2000 with a 1.6 or 2" shutter. Hyperlapses with those are so sweet

    Okay, now wait a minute, Mr Billy Kyle! What's the difference between landing your drone and adjusting your variable ND filter or swapping your standard ND filter because you installed the wrong one? Answer: it's WAY easier to adjust a VND than it is to change one! Especially on some of the smaller drones. Heck, you don't even need to turn the drone off.
    I have the 2-5 stop Polar Pro on my Mavic 3, and it doesn't come off unless I'm flying at night. Frankly, there's no better solution for drones to use ND filters than the variable type. Specifically, the Polar Pro's. I also have the Freewell VNDs, and I found them to introduce banding.

    I just purchased an Air 3 with my tax return. Before it arrived I bought some accessories from Amazon and I grabbed a 4 pack of ND filters from Neewer. They were only $25 on sale so at least I have something. The set has ND 16, 32, 64 and a polarizer. I’m glad I picked it up.

    Billy another great video and I went with dji nd filter pack for all my drone when I purchase them but now I definitely going to get a 1000 nd filter. Then I Wii be completely good and I love your Outro song what the name of the song.

    I would buy the special effect filter like the Mist filter as that makes your shot more cinematic. Also the gradient filter allows for a higher exposed ground and keep the sky from becoming over exposed. I do like polizers for water shots.

    ☘️ Great Billy .. I always keep on my CPL Polariser for vids & pics .. seems to work..My Rant is that for every drone you need another set of new filters… WHY can’t a 3rd party make an adapter so filters can be used for a number of drones .. ND filters are a waste as for most people who don’t need motion blur .. as most fly high where there isn’t most motion .. 💚🇮🇪😀👍

  • @MaximoJoshua
    @MaximoJoshua 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    eh, I like to just have 1 VND, if you were going to have 1 ND32, you could just leave the VND as a ND32.
    I just leave the VND on the drone, because the light is usually going to be the same where I am.
    It is annoying to land and fiddle with it, but you don't have to and can't with a fixed a one.
    I agree that you don't need that many, but if you are doing shots over water, CPL can be very useful.

    At 5:54, I was hoping that the next shot would show f/2,8 ditching the ND and using a high shutter speed instead. For that specific shot, there’s not much motion, so there wouldn’t be much difference compared to the shot using an ND.
    Thank you for the example at 10:33. That demonstrates why I never use ND’s for real estate work. The side benefit of omitting ND’s for real estate is that still photos are nice and crisp due to high shutter speeds.
    I disagree with including ISO in the comment at 11:30. Increasing ISO on a drone can have a significant impact on image quality. Having to go above base ISO due to using an ND filter is a sign that the filter is too dark, IMO.

    Very good stuff but you didn't say what filters would be best with a drone that doesn't have variable aperture like Mini 4 Pro or Air 3. Same three choices?

    • @olabergvall3154
      @olabergvall3154 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my experience, yes. But all drones with fixed aperture don't have the same aperture. For my Mini 4 Pro, an ND32 gets the most use. 16 id usually not enough except on very overcast days, and 64 id too much where I live.
      My Air 2S and Mavic 2 Zoom don't let as much light in as the Mini 4. So a 16 is usually comparable to a 32 on the Mini.
      ND 1000 would be for certain blur effects in still photography, asmost never for video.
      So yea, ND 16, ND32, that's the sweet spot for 99% of cases for many users (not all users).

    I think ND filters are just a personal preference. To take the time to adjust the camera with a filter on while the drone is on is just wasting the battery

    I have the Mini3 Pro and in sunny days I use the ND64 or the ND64PL (in beaches). Overcast days I use the ND32.
    I use also the ND1000 or ND2000. Otherwise I have an UV always replacing the DJI piece.

    I understand the theory but do you ever get motion blur on a gimbal drone? You're too slow and too far off the ground. I totally agree for typical fpv flights but I never use ND filters on my Mini 3 Pro... I understand it as well for photos/long exposure.
