I still feel neo is better with small size and pricing. Flip gets costly when you compare $300 vs $800 pricing of fly more combo. Also Quality is usable if you use topaz Ai in post processing for neo. Also Flip cannot track vehicles which is a dissapointment for its cost.
Exactly! And in that case it falls in the same category as a Mini 4 Pro with the 399 gram waiver. However, many people are going to still fly this over people and assume its legal.
Like the Neo. This just another toy for DJI Preppies! I like the propeller guard idea and the idea of using your smart phone and quick features on the drone itself. No way in all seriousness is this a true upgrade for the Mini Pro Series.
Thanks! Can you track a person cycling without using a remote but only a phone? If so, how fast, and is it possible to reposition it to forward tracking or tracking from the sides?
Just ordered this as my first Drone. M4P image quality and super easy use with that price is a no brainer for me. But I´m sure M4P is overall a better Drone if you are happy spending all that money.
I'm so glad to see the Neo and FLIP use flight modes we invented for the Yuneec Breeze back in 2016. Albeit, with slightly better autonomy. But we've hit a glass ceiling in terms of specs, so that's why I believe we're seeing different form factors.
@TrentSiggard exactly! There's not much room to go for now. I can't think anything better than what we have now. Even more flight time, perhaps, but even that, for me, is more than enough
The question is will it be readily available in the U.S. with all the customs issues DJI is still dealing with? I had an order refused entry by customs just a few days ago. Domestic retailers are having a hard time getting inventory too. The community really needs to push to get this sorted out so a bunch of bureaucracy doesn’t kill off regular consumer access to drone technology.
I love your idea of using it as a camera in a pinch what you should try that I haven’t seen anyone do yet or suggest is to use it with a DJI mic without noise canceling, if that’s possible just to see what the audio would sound like with the blades not running but yet using the camera, just saying ;)
The drone itself is okay, but what i feel is the REAL seller is that it has no remote ID or geofencing. NICE! It's not a "primary drone" but an excellent addition to your fleet!
I personally don’t understand why everyone is comparing the Flip to the mini 4 pro. To me they are not in the same category at all. The Flip is a super NEO equipped with a better camera, gimbal and a larger more stable platform. Just my humble opinion.
@billykyle, why are our DJI drones getting confiscated by customs via UPS? Many of us ordered Avata2 bundles from DJI and they never showed up and stuck in customs and we can’t contact them. DJI offering refunds but we really want it. Is NJ a drone location issue?
I'd say the biggest issue I have with my Neo I wanted the camera photo quality of a mini 4K pro and I wish I waited because the flip basically does that and gives me so much more functionality a lot less limitations. I was just gonna get a mini 4K Pro later and seeing as the photo quality was the biggest selling point everything else was just a large perk. I guess I can sell my Neo and get everything I wanted from the Ne-Yo but the quality I wanted from the mini 4K Pro with a nicer price tag somebody's about to get a good deal on a neo. lol
I believe that this is more capable to allow for this to be classified as a class one drone with the install of a RID module. This making it easier for part 107 to get waivers to fly over people. As the Mini 4 Pro can’t. So this does have its place among drone users.
I hate propeller guards on a drone. If whatever reason you bounce off of something you can still have it fly back to you. With guards it might not make it back because now a bent propeller will hit the guards and make it difficult to fly back.
Awesome looking drone with unique design ,i look forward to your opinion with every new drone that comes out however i have been holding out for the Mini 5 ,any idea when or if it will be coming out ???
Excellent review. The flip looks cool for most users. I use my M4Pro for sports. Hence, how does the flip performs in Active track mode to track a person sprints with fast sharp turns. I hope you can do a test on that when possible. Thanks.
How are you supposed to get even close to 8mile range even with a custom battery and one direction? I think 2.8 mile is realistic at medium speed and it’ll be a one way flight.
They mad the drone to dominate the drone market. Hoover came out with a upgraded version of there drone and the neo wasn't enough so they brought out the flip.
Love the video. I have a Neo and Mini4pro and Would love to check this flip out. Any chance i can take you up on that “Pass the controller challenge” around the museum some time or maybe the other side around race st. Pier and the bridge. Bet that had some awesome shot potentials. Would love to hear some recommended spots in PHL. Thanks Billy
Still the drone just fills a space that idk if people needed? If you want an entry cheap drone for yourself or your kid? Just get a neo, and you can use it with fpv goggles. If you want a drone for solid photography, just get a pro 4 or pro 3. Longer battery time, true vertical shooting, obstacle detection, and still under 250 grams without adding props. Sure, it's more expensive for both the 3 or 4 pro, but the price hike is worth it in my opinion. Also you can find used options everywhere. I don't really find the flip more convenient since it's basically the same size as a mini but it does have the utility of the quick shots like the neo but....just get the neo?
Hey Billy - speaking of lightweight and safe… maybe you can weigh in on this. Looks like the drone that hit the Super Scooper in LA was a Mini 4??? How could a 250g drone punch a softball size hole in a steel plane wing yet be safe enough for FAA to not need registration… Something for another video for you to speak about maybe? Something fishy is going on with that news story I think. That drone would have desintegrated upon impact I think.
I think you are better off with your Avata 2 ! The one issue I have is its inability to handle wind gusts... That and .. it's noisy as hell !.. and it turns on as soon as you open the prop legs.
@ Apple and oranges, the Avata 2 is an FPV drone, the Flip is an FPV drone. The Flip would replace your Mini 3 or Mini 4 Pro. If it has built in prop guards, it’s going to be noisy. Turning on when opening the props is supposed to be a pro, not a con, LOL.
This seems like a foreign compliant drone more than anything. A Mini 4 variant drone that trades real 360 obstacle avoidance for a worse infrared front obstacle avoidance with a built in propeller guard while maintaining weight requirements of many countries.
13:29 no remote ID on these is ridiculous. Does DJI not keep up with the US laws? This could be an out of the box operations over people drone with 107 + waiver
DJI made a mistake by releasing this type to compete with Hoover. I would have preferred that you include the specifications of the DJI Air3s inside the DJI Mini 5 Pro.
As always Kyle you nailed this perfectly, as this is definitely a huge step up from the Neo as it packs all the same features but with the quality of the Mini 4 pro. This will definitely be a great first buy for a new drone user. I can’t wait for the launch next of the Mavic 4 Pro as that is my next purchase!
This drone is garbage. The Neo can literally fit in your pocket. If you need more in a drone than what the Neo offers, any of the Minis are the best choice.
You can use the DJI Goggles 3/FPV controller with the Neo and the Mini 4 Pro but for some inexplicable reason DJI decided not to enable that feature for the Flip. Until then I'll pass or wait for the Mini 5.
This is not a Mini Series replacement drone. I like the protection idea for the blades. But not able to toss those blades in the trash where they belong and able to put in a 4 or 5 bladed propellers is a disappointment. No RID either? The Mini 4 Pro say with built in prop guards that can be opened to replace the blades would be a plus. There is no way in hello this is a replacement for the future Mini 5 Pro! The Neo and this Flip are just toys 🧸 for the DJI Preppies. Sorry to come off negative. This would be a huge mistake for DJI to be a replacement for the great Mini Series drones from the mini 1 to the Mini 4 Pro.
Let’s be real, they are addressing their competition in the room-Hover Air. I never trust the copycat. Hover Air wins this round no matter how much “better” this is.
Could have been useful, if IF it had RID. Yes, you can put a module on it, but it would be over 250g and not eligible as category 1 and not flyable over people.
And you will have to buy batteries for it, because even if you have several d ji drones, they won't fit unlike my mini 4k i can use the batteries from the se. Or the 2
If you remember awhile back dji updated the air 2s out of nowhere to make it remote ID. I beleive the flip will be remote ID soon and then you won't need the waiver. Dji is a business, they would not have missed this opportunity.
The camera doesn’t have HLG, so it’s not the same as the M4P…and for the love of all that is holy, DLog M is NOT DLog…they are two completely different color profiles with drastically different usability and workflows. There is a handy little guide on DJI’s site telling you which drones and cameras have DLog…Inspire, Mavik, Phantom, Zenmuse, Ronin 4D…that is it. This has ONLY DLog M, and not DLog or HLG. Seems like a pretty pure downgrade from the M4P.
Compatible with the motion controller? Compatible with goggles? Which one(s)? No remote ID? Why? Weight? Really? The battery could have been shaved a few grams and the remote ID could be built in. For what, a minute flight time decrease? Seems like a big oversight. So if I add remote ID, which as a 107 I have to do, I go over 250 grams, which then changes the Flip's FAA classification - for the worse.
Had the mini 2 s e , got rid of it rubbish, it flew great, but it was rubbish. Then I got the mini 3 , nothing wrong with that but I sold it for some silly reason. I regret that then I got the neo. That was fun for a couple of days. Then the many 4k came out, so I sold the neo and just 5 pounds more, I got the mini 4k , that's it no more IM keeping it. I will be tempted to buy anything else, and this new one. I just don't understand why the neo's Big Brother. Who's it for children? Apparently people with money to waste, but I will say this if you're gonna buy a drone, make sure it starts with d ji 😅
Thanks Billy, I just may have to get one. So cool !
Most people have zero imagination when it comes to flying and filming with a new design. I have been waiting for this exact design for quite awhile
Yes, I would buy the Flip intact i just did. Thanks for a honest and interesting video 👍👍
Well done Billy. Looking forward to learning more about the DJI Flip.
Nice Review Billy, Looks Like We Have Choices For Any Kind Of DJI Drones We Want
thanks, perfect review, the 'DJI Flip Example Images' are very useful
Well presented. bonus: if you stand it on it’s body, folded, you have a great table fan!
Interesting drone. Thank you for the breakdown Billy!
Can you use the dji controller 3
I still feel neo is better with small size and pricing. Flip gets costly when you compare $300 vs $800 pricing of fly more combo. Also Quality is usable if you use topaz Ai in post processing for neo. Also Flip cannot track vehicles which is a dissapointment for its cost.
Flip has way better camera with gimbal than the Neo, plus D.Log recording.
@@ScruffyMisguidedAndBlueAlso night support and fly over water
When using just your phone to fly. Is it still the same with over sharpened footage that can only be changed with the controller.
can it be used with Avata 2 Goggles
no
Awesome review very nicely rounded!! ❤👍
With no remote ID it still cannot fly over people unless you add a RID module, which might make it over 250 Grs
Exactly! And in that case it falls in the same category as a Mini 4 Pro with the 399 gram waiver. However, many people are going to still fly this over people and assume its legal.

@@BlueDroneBlues Nobody claims it is an upgrade to the Pro, but it costs significantly less and still has a great gimbal and camera.
Is this to replace the mini line? Will there be a mini 5 pro?
Thanks! Can you track a person cycling without using a remote but only a phone? If so, how fast, and is it possible to reposition it to forward tracking or tracking from the sides?
Thanks Billy. Next a sound test of Mini3/4 Neo and this one. 😊
great information !
It can also be used as an egg white beater or milk frother.
14:04 it doesnt auto turn off when folded?
it does, after 5 seconds
Great vid, thanks!
Just ordered this as my first Drone. M4P image quality and super easy use with that price is a no brainer for me. But I´m sure M4P is overall a better Drone if you are happy spending all that money.
Does it work with goggles n3
Would love to know this. I’d imagine it will
No
No, it doesn't do FPV
I think someone pays you!! 🤣
I was going to say it looks a lot like my spark
I'm so glad to see the Neo and FLIP use flight modes we invented for the Yuneec Breeze back in 2016. Albeit, with slightly better autonomy. But we've hit a glass ceiling in terms of specs, so that's why I believe we're seeing different form factors.

is there a waypoint feature on dji flip? tia
This is like the DJI spark we needed years ago
Does it have waypoints like m4p?
Just ordered and expecting this drone. I'm based out of Helsinki and wondering if this cab be flown in Finnish Winter ?
I love your idea of using it as a camera in a pinch what you should try that I haven’t seen anyone do yet or suggest is to use it with a DJI mic without noise canceling, if that’s possible just to see what the audio would sound like with the blades not running but yet using the camera, just saying ;)

I thought the gimbal was 2 axis on flip?
Yeah, that design. I guess it is something I'm going to have to grow into. Either love it or hate it? Just like my wife.
Lol!
If the flip doesn’t turn on until “flipped” then how can you record as you stated in the last part of your video?
It does have an on/off button... The automatic turning on when 'flipped' is just a perk.
Oh ok. Thanks!
I personally don’t understand why everyone is comparing the Flip to the mini 4 pro. To me they are not in the same category at all. The Flip is a super NEO equipped with a better camera, gimbal and a larger more stable platform. Just my humble opinion.

Mine is on the way. So Billy do you think this halt talk about the Mini 5 Pro?
@billykyle, why are our DJI drones getting confiscated by customs via UPS? Many of us ordered Avata2 bundles from DJI and they never showed up and stuck in customs and we can’t contact them.
DJI offering refunds but we really want it. Is NJ a drone location issue?
can use filter with mini4 pro?
Need more testing of the tracking! Is it any better than on the Neo thanks to the faster speed potential? Can it track a skier now?
I'm enjoying my original hover x1 drone.
Does it have a built in transponder???
This might be the perfect indoor real estate frone
Mini 4 Pro would be the best option.
I'm really interested to see this drone compared to the air 3s from what I have seen so far, it looks the same if not better.
Cool! Does it sound as loud as the Neo?
Same question on my mind....Neo was sooo loud, it defeated the point of being small.
great drone
DJI Spark reborn. I still have my Spark, but my Mini 2 just makes the Spark feel so so so ancient.
I'd say the biggest issue I have with my Neo I wanted the camera photo quality of a mini 4K pro and I wish I waited because the flip basically does that and gives me so much more functionality a lot less limitations. What is the maximum speed he reaches doing the track?
Im new to all this but do i still need to get a permit to fly this?
Pass on this, decent that it has the same M4p camera but this is like going back years with innovation

I was thinking the same
They should of just came out with a NEO Pro instead
@@christiandoneslopez2532 exactly. Or a mini 4 lite with prop guards and lighter. Why start 2 separate lineups? Neo and Flip? I don’t see the point

First review video to Billie Kyle
Sounds like it has a better camera than the NEO, better for videos over people if you are 107.
Need remote ID for part 107 - meaning the Flip will weigh more than 250 grams - meaning you can't fly over people.
