As much as I love Simon as the host, this makes me realise that I have had a complete lack of mark lamarr in my life for several years
Mark miles ahead of Simon. Simon became very dull after a while

Ahahahaha
Where did Mark Lamar go? How did a comedian like this just fizzle out of existence?
Me and *Mah Boi*! This pop quiz is what all true music fans strive for!
That’s an incredibly obscure reference. Take my upvote.
It is written: You, R S, are the Hero of Buzzcocks!
Anthony Hobson great! I’ll grab my stuff!
@@BrazenScull There is no time, these points will be enough!
This pop quiz is that for which all true music fans strive. (Corrected so the preposition is moved to where it should be and not at the end of the sentence!)
Lol Simon and Lamarr actually have good banter between them as guest and host all that time ago
totally didn't mean to pour water on himself, but rolled with it well.
It's so amazing how Simon followed in Mark's steps.
wacky
How he fucked it right up.
@@Simon53188yeah I wouldn't say he followed in his footsteps, more like he trampled on his footprints
It's weird seeing Simon on this show as a contestant
would have been better if it stayed that way :)
no :)
How did he come from this to host of the show? I have no idea.
Did you marry stone Island?
@@AK-vb2yh He was an amazing host.
Awwww... Watching this, I feel that Mark is highly attractive. Hahaha hot damn
The Brian Connolly reference and delivery was absolute genius 😂
Can you explain pls
@@YouDoNotKnowMe99 they’re often confused for each other
@@thatguyfromthatthing2476oh lol thanks, I think he meant Brian Conley
@@YouDoNotKnowMe99He did haha.
This shows though, as successful as the show was with Simon, he doesn't know half as much about music as Mark does. With Mark the show was about the music (obviously, it being a Pop Quiz) and about comedy, he also had great chemistry with the team captains..with Simon it was more about making fun of guests. Mark would do that too, but he would apologise if he went to far. I miss Mark :(
I agree with you entirely about Lamarr's musical knowledge. But apologize? I've never seen that!
There's been a few incidents when he said something really personal where he immediately said 'I'm sorry', can't think of it off the top of my head, but I've seen it happen at least twice. But just to guests who weren't completely full of themselves :D
MsMoonTheLoon Daphne and Celeste, when he said I know your mum. Lamar was the best for me, his Pete Townsend beating of Bill Bailey was my favourite moment. why did he finish in the end?
I Loose his Pete Townshend beating, that was one great episode (of many!) I think he was just bored with it, and after Simon became so successful he didn't get the show back (or didn't want it back, idk). It's a shame though he doesn't even do radio anymore
Granted Lamaar knew more about music, but always came across as a know it all twat to me. Amstell is a know it all twat too, but he was just a better comedian in my opinion.
Simon and Lamar on the same episode
Into the Buzzcock-verse
Simon was good yeah, I can't think of many guest hosts that I liked. And I am not sure how good the revival will be... Mark Lamarr was absolutely brilliant in this. He rarely had an off night. I think the main problem after he left was it soon became difficult to book decent guests because of how acerbic and downright vicious Simon could be. Come on Mark write another show or get into podcasts or something... Anything! You are missed!
Mark Simon n Bradley all legend's at hosting quiz shows
You need to watch the clip of the line up from this episode to fully appreciate Simon's joke
these clips are great, well played op
The master and the apprentice.
I would say his apprenticeship was far too short.
I miss Mark Lamarr
Mel Blatt. Wow!
The best crossover in British tv history
I remember watching this episode in 2005. Loved Lamarr and I remember at the end of this episode Lamarr chanting “Simon’s burning, Simon’s burning, piss on Simon, piss on Simon”. I was gutted when Lamarr left and couldn’t believe Simon Amstell, who I only knew as the timid and butt of the gags guest from this episode would become the new presenter. He definitely had more confidence as the host and I grew to like him, but as this episode demonstrates Lamarr was the best.
I used to have a crazy crush on Mel Blatt.
Still do . . . but I used to as well.
So what you're basically saying is you've not quite mastered tense.
@@SpeccyMan🙂 It was just a naff attempt to riff on this Mitch Hedburg bit. th-cam.com/video/VqHA5CIL0fg/w-d-xo.html
I was going to say gimme that money by Spinal Tap
I miss this show. Is there anywhere to watch it? I can't find it anywhere?
Poor Mark is so unhappy by this point. Miss him so much. Amstell was a fun replacement but he was no Lamarr.
Saturdays Child spot on
No one can replace Lamaar!
Mels top is like a Christmas Pudding lol
"What happened there?! Luckily we're not filming this, I'll never know how Melanie CHEATED!"
*Melanie you melt. It’s even written in the title.
@@andrewleah1983🥸
I don't get the Brian connelly joke can someone explain it to me
Brian Conley and Bradley Walsh kind of look alike
Shame, Brian Conley was so underrated.
IT'S A PUPPETTTTTTTTT :) :) ;)
@@ItsJammeus Later on in the programme, Bradley calls Simon "Alan Davies".
Tbf, I thought that was Brian Conley at first as well XD
The biggest crossover episode ever
Mrs. Blatt really does love me.
Melanie Blatter would get it
What about Melanie Blatt?
Fucking incredible.
Who is the woman next to bill?
Did Phil Jupitis EVER have any other employment?
QI
*that's ma bOy*
Melanies lips are just mmmmmmm
Both lips
I really do wish Melanie was my new very special friend
I feel like Mark would of been happy that it was Simon who took over him
definitely

Boyfriend Bradley walsh Never mind the Buzzcocks Hi yas is girlfriend Hannah Think you
Simon seems very uncomfortable.
And to think Simon Amstell would go onto ruin the show as a host
I know Noel Fielding blames Simon for them struggling to book guests. But without Simon it would have died shortly after Lamarr went.
@@christopherroberts7306 Perhaps, in hindsight, that would've been for the best.
You serious? Simon earned the show awards within a year of hosting, took the ratings to heights Mark couldn’t. Oh, and the show struggled to gain viewers after Amstell left. Did he make it difficult to get bookings? Yes. But Phil and Bill happily went along with the creative direction of the show. And as for Noel, I think a long period of silence on his part regarding Simon Amstell would be welcome.
Ruin it? It was great with Simon as a host but eventually the guests got scared and Simon got bored.
@@jonstiffer4994 scared?! You can't be serious lol: I honestly never got that feeling when watching the shows he presented - he always came across as so earnest & eager to impress whereas Mark Lamarr didn't care! The only episodes that stick out with Simon presenting are Preston & the lead singer from Towers of London, also the laughter mainly came across as awkward & cringey whereas Mark's shows were genuinely funny.
