Considering Alfa's are not a typical car we see on my side of the world. Stuffing a Ferrari engine in it really makes the build interesting. I would have watched either way but I can not wait until you start it for the first time in episode 108 of the Alfa build. Keep up the good work!
Good luck on your build. I am stuffing in my Alfa Romeo spider,1984, a 2.2 ecotec engine ( 2003 ) built to about 235 hp. No turbo at 7200 rpm, and 180 ish tourqe. My transmission it a wc t5 transmission from a 1997 Ford mustang. You might want to think about that transmission, lightweight and easy to adapt. Also changed a my rotors to bolt on to a hat 12.19 vented all 4 corners, with 1998 Porsche brembo calipers,4 pot all four corners.
A 105 with a swap is a dream idea of mine and I thought an F20C would be cool because of the revs and high specific output...but Jeff's literally just living out Gran Turismo for real here and turning that idea to 11! Revs, highly tuned n/a, noise, drama, pedigree, literally this could be the ultimate build! One thing I'd love to see here is a fully custom and neat wiring loom throughout, I'd tap up the boys at Haltech maybe - they've certainly provided an ECU/loom for another build on YT.
Man even if it takes two years what you do is great. I took my 68 Volkswagen apart to restore in high school...that was in 1999! As I write this I’m literally looking at the damn thing in my backyard practically untouched since I brought it to my house. No worries you are moving at light speed compared to most of us. Twenty damn years!
Great choice a reliable Ferrari engine also Alfa are back in F1, Sergio Marchionne put that in place just before he died. You are right some of the older units if you drove through a town you would have to change the plugs.
Cool idea- a local Alfa club guy put an Alfa V6 from a Verde in his spider. It was nose heavy, but fun until he was hit in traffic. Still, that was an easier project than you are tackling. Look forward to seeing the progress.
OMG. Jeff this is awesome. Your doing a daydream engine swap. Something we’d come up with when thinking of engine swaps with no limit but our imagination. Absolutely love it. Good luck and Godspeed. Can’t wait to see the build progress.
Glad I found your channel I'm looking to do a similar build but in a 1990 ford probe GT was the first car I ever had and Ferraris have been a dream of mine I wanna build a unique crazy build for me and a 360 engine and trans was exactly what I had in mind cant wait ..thanks for the videos I'm following
I understand why you're selling the Datsun and keep a V8 Ferrari swapped Alfa instead of the it, it will worth it in the end. We're here to enjoy our life and even if it's expensive we should be rather thankful we can afford a build like this, so keep on going, Jeff!
Incredible progression with the whole Home Built by Jeff. We will try and do our bit as you have asked for in supporting you. We absolutely love the good ole aussie fair dinkum give it a go.
Wow, this is going to be awesome! I guessed "Dino V6" in the comments a few videos ago because I thought a Ferrari engine would give it some "x-factor" while suiting the car, and a Dino seemed the most reasonable. Little did I suspect you were going to go full blown lunatic on this build! 😅
Jeff started supporting you on patron. Really admire your efforts. I have a few projects and know how hard it is to get these done. Working on a TR4, tr6 and a Dodge Charger as projects. Drivable I have Porsche 911 TT and a Corvette. Again a lot respect for what you are doing.
YES!!!!! I was excited for this build as it was and now its on a whole new level!! I appreciate how real you are Jeff and that the fun is in the building of these cars. Just don't sell the 680 until the 911 is finished. A name for the 911 could be the "Tin Man", cause it needs a heart and needs oil to survive! Keep up the great work!
Exciting new Alfa build. The Ferrari build was a surprise but, that make your build more interesting. I'm here for the long haul so, I'll be watching this build closely.
I have been following your channel for a while and thoroughly enjoy your content. The Alfa is going to be a great way to further your skills and produce a beautiful vehicle at the end of this journey.
@@WelcomeToTheMadness Ya not sure if the prices went up but you are correct I see them online for 1700-1800 new. Used fetching 500-$900. Still a lot less then a t56 and almost as strong.
I think Ferrari engines are works of art. I used to think I was weird , but I see that there are 86K of us. I know they aren’t daily drivers but they sure look cool!
Great choice of engine mate, look forward to seeing the project progressing. No doubt you have your work cut out for you but with your talent I'm sure you will get there in the end. Thanks for the upload and good luck with the project.
Dear Jeff, To quote the sage, Capt. James T Kirk-"have you lost your Vulcan mind?" While I'm guilty of being a semi Alfa purist, this is nuts. My GTV engine bay is tight enough to make servicing difficult so I'm incredulous of it all fitting. The beauty of the 105 2.0 is its a pretty well balanced car. Alfaholics builds approach 200 HP and its by all accounts a hand full. The weight distribution is going to be off and I'm afraid while you will have breathtaking straight line acceleration, day to day driveabilty will be affected. You have a cross member and frame rails to deal with and then there is the pesky issue of hood/bonnet clearance. The Alfa 2.0 block is cast aluminum as are the heads-its light and tossible. Its unibody so you should probably look at stitch welding the body seams to handle the extra stress. Instead of Bring a Trailer it's gonna be Bring a Shoehorn
love the enthusiasm, surprised a newer giulia driveline wasnt in the mix, people seem to be bin those right n left over here. whole car is 10k all in, suspension, ac, ps, engine, comp yadi yada....n its an alfa, with 350hp w intake n chip..
Brilliant choice of engine :) That’s just my humble opinion, i have already seen the mesmerizingly perfect fit that you pulled of. You are an ace mate :)

First comment ever on youtube for me, just so I could say what an awesome build Jeff! I really hope this project gives your channel the recognition it deserves! Thank you for sharing with us!
Wow a Fezza engine....man are you going to have to do some SERIOUS chassis stiffening! Is it going to road registered? That will be a monster engineering effort. Watching with great interest Jeff.
WOW! Now that will definitely sound like a Ferrari ! This will be a next level build and you have the patience to do it justice. Big day ! and no distributor!
What a fantastic project! Looking forward to more episodes on this build! Shame you have to sell the Datsun, but I can empathise as I know how much it can cost to build your own Project Car. :(
The Giulia has a Ferrari engineered V6 motor. So more than an engine from the "family", you are keeping up with the new trends. Thank you for doing that, I was a bit disappointed that the great Alfa Romeo inline 4, so advanced for its time, was losing its space in the project. A Ferrari engine is an "acceptable" foreign body (LOL) in an Alfa Romeo.
Transaxle is a cool principle especially if U got a small car with large engine. Regarding a weight balance on both axes as an ideal to come at least very close to. How come U thought the gear box in this case has to be on the back side of your rear axle? If U had it just flipped around a 180 ° everything would be fine.
Wow, I really didn't see this coming! Good luck with engine swap, I think the main problem might be the height of the EFi, and rear diff, I'm sure there are ways around it. Good luck 😀
I wish i couod afford an old Alfa let alone a ferrari v8 one. Its awsome project Jeff hope u get her done. Since porsche is done we can focus on the Alfa and the track day crap roxster
Im glad youre out of your comfort zone with having boring engines! This should give you a big boost to your channel. Try not to marry your old projects, keep flipping these cars because your next project will get better and better. Keep it up Jeff!
Mad man! As soon as I saw the title, I thought "355 engine?" ... I was pretty close! Why don't you used a 3.0/3.2 Alfa V6 24v Busso engine? stays on the brand, wel tuned produces 270 hp and have that unique sound that everybody raves obout.
@@dookiebooger9967 I now it's more powerful, (don't know if "better") But because you mention many times the importance to stay on the brand and not being too big etc.. etc..
Should be cool if you can make it work, from someone who has put a few v8s in cars that only had 4s in originally, space for a decent radiator and fan, and space for exhaust manifolds/exhaust and clearance around steering shaft are things you should contemplate first. If you were planning on getting it road legal(if thats even possible with that combo) versus just a race car. Dummy the engine in, and check all that out first before doing anything else. If you get past that step then look at what suspension arm options you have to support the weight of the engine and box and also strong enough to not snap/bend with the substantial jump in power.
The V8 Montreal is built on the 105 chassis and they are a fairly sizable engine. But not really powerful in the big scheme of things. Keeping the Ferrari variable length manifold under an unmolested bonnet would be a challenge. Gearbox choice will be interesting. Perhaps something as big and boofy as a Tremec TR6060 would be overkill from a torque handling ability, but would be so unbreakable and 1000% dependable............. They have a great feel and ratio spread too. The diff will be another area that'll need love. And the poor flimsy Alfa chassis. And brakes. And suspension. A huge project to do well.
OK, didnt see that coming. You have officially lost your mind. Love it!
watching the project from the beginning 4 years later you are inspiring bro
I'm not gonna lie, originally i wasnt that interested in the Alfa build, but now you have really sparked my interest! Gonna make a sick sleeper Jeff!
Yeah I was only semi interested before, but now it's on a whole new level.
Truth be told!

Hi I found your channel through VIN Wiki
The Alfa project is very interesting
Your definitely a craftsman
I'm going to check out the previous videos!
To stop the 440hp Ferrari powered Alfa, your going to need those huge black Lamborghini brake callipers, that you picked up off the shelf.

Actually the F136 engine used in Maserati has a closer relationship to an Alfa because it was used in the Alfa 8C.
Also the f154 is used both on Maserati and alfa giulia quadrifoglio

Insane Jeff, really hope I can see it one day when it’s done !
Try looking into somwthing like a t56 or tr6060 gearbox, cheap, easy to find and beefy 6 speed it is quite big though
T56 are expensive CD009 nissan 350/370z transmission. $1,200 new at the dealership
Pretty sure they put a Ferrari engine into a BR-Z.... He needs to talk to those guys. Can't remember what drifter it was.
