I'm currently in the process of making a Esper clone deck and I was struggling to find some win cons. You guys were perfectly on time ! Thanks for the great content.
Pontiff of Blight works insanly good in K'rrik not only because you usually cast this madlad for 4 mana and 4 life, but being able to extort for 2 life every single time just makes this ridicoulus. Not that K'rrik needs this since the guy is broken already but i like this as a finisher there.
I feel like Martyr’s Cause should be mentioned more when considering free sac outlets. It makes combat a nightmare for the creature decks and gets around blasphemous act effects occasionally. I think it’s right up there with Fanatical Devotion
Pretty sure ghostly flicker can flicker land because when it was designed, a long lost set called Zendikar was in standard and it might have had a land or two that liked flickering, nevermind a little known mechanic called landfall. I think there's a chance that they might even be pretty good together. ;)
When I started playing commander my friend had sanguine bond and grey merchant of asphodel, combo. It was a great budget combo and we usually got hit for at least 16 damage. But usually killed is all for 30 life. Since then our decks have gotten much more competitive, but I will always remember that merchant.
Just stopping in the comments to say hi and I appreciate you both so much (and amber too). I look forward to your content every day and I watch every video you make. So good!
Just commenting to say, Nykthos Paragon is FOR SURE, an amazing ad in 4Color Omnath because you play a land? Give everything +4/+4 and just hold up your fetch to avoid the mana flood and you’ve given 8 power and toughness over two turns and now you’re presenting lethal so quickly! I love this card
Marionette Master is in my Prosper Treasures deck along with Academy Manufactor (which isn’t budget) but with a huge stack of Treasures/Food and Clue tokens I close out games pretty quickly.
I got an ad right as your were saying "Gray Merchant" and it sounded like you were going to say "Grave Titan," but then I remembered it's not budget and also not good lol.
The ivy lane denizen and scurry oak/herd baloth combo are in my Meren as the win con. I either creature a billion tokens to swing with, or I sacrifice them to greater good/altar of dementia triggering enough drain effects to kill every opponent all at once. The rest of the deck is built around searching for them like protean hulk and buried alive, or draining life points per sac/death trigger.
I used to have a non budget deck with debt to the deathless with karlov as the commander who's main goal was to gain as much life from it as possible. Having both cabal coffers and stronghold plus Alhammarret's archive the decks sole purpose was to send off the biggest bomb of debt possible. I only ever ended up winning the deck twice once by paying X = 35 with debt and the other time by nickle and diming so many +1/+1 counters i was able to exile every other players creatures and just beat them to death. It was a fun deck took it apart awhile ago tho too gimmiky plus when ever i tried to run it my play group knew how scary it was so i was target number one lol. Lmao nice to hear im your fav name to say today joe!
i'm glad they worded nykthos paragon in a good way with the once per turn included. if they didn't say you MAY put the counters on, if you had like a sanctum of stone fangs type effect that triggers on upkeep you'd just keep getting +1/+1 then and not at a time later in the turn where you gain a lot more. this way you can keep that kind of effect in there, but just skip it when it comes up if you know you'll gain more life later that turn.
Nykthos paragon with any lifelink creature means that creature doubles its power every turn (along with your whole board). Slow and kind of battle cruiser but I love it
Big big fan of cut // ribbons over debt to the deathless or exsanguinate (in rakdos). Stapled to decent removal & doesn't rot in your hand in the early game
@@JaimeAGB-pt4xl yeah totally. There are so many good cards it's hard to choose. But two of my favorites, a common and uncommon, are: Scale the Heights and Refreshing Rain. I just recently added 2 cards from Crimson Vow too: Hopeful Initiate and Voice of the Blessed. I didn't put Cleric Class in because, as stated above, I wouldn't know where to squeeze it in.
I can see the Scale the Highs as it has value as long as U can get 2 or more effects (meaning U need to have a creature at the time)... Refreshing rain however I see very circumstantial since not every table will have black, I would put in Cleric class instead since If U check the 2nd effect, works as a Back up Lathiel... The initate is a very good removam and repeatable effect ... Voice of the Blessed can be very strong and an auto replace/upgrade from Pridemate... Personally I'm more into small and repeatable effects that get 1 or more counters on more than 1 creature at the time since exile removal is easy to get
Herd Baloth is a may ablility, so it goes as far as you want with Cathar's Crusade. Thanks for the recommendation, Herd Baloth is going straight into Ghave now.
Pontiff of blight is excellent in my K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth deck. K'rrk's ability pays for the extort for 2 life and you net 1 life when you drain 3 players. And then you can do it times the number of creatures you have in play.
13:04 Decimator of the Provinces is another budget Craterhoof replacement, with a little higher mana value but has emerge to bring the cost down in the right situation. It’s around $1.50 at the time of this video so just outside the $1 threshold for the video, but worth mentioning if you want to double up the effect End-Raze Forerunners provides on a creature without spending Craterhoof money.
If you want some genuine country I'd recommend Marty Robbins, specifically the album "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs," 1956 I believe. The album has songs about a Ranger bringing an Outlaw to justice, taming a wild horse, a hanging, being a vagabond, billy the kid, dying of thirst, being a gun for hire, and being jealously in love to name just a few. If you are Fallout 4 fan you will recognize "Big Iron." It is the album that got me into country music. As far as mainstream "Pop Country" goes, no freakin' thank you, can't do it.
I've lost to Debt to the Deathless so many times. My buddy plays it in most of his decks with Black and White. Now that I think about it, all of his decks have Black and White
I run Gary in my Aminatou deck, panharmonicon and conjurer's closet. So it activate 2 times on cast, 2 times using Ami and 2 more at the end of turn with closet....lots of fun.
debt to the debtleas is one of my favorite cards ever. i use it as one of my win cons in my orzhov life gain deck that i’ve played forever. it’s gotten to the point where if my playgroup sees me counting my mana they know i’m about to win 😂
It's still a few dollars to get all three, but recent reprintings of the thopter foundry + sword of the meek + time siev combo is now more affordable than ever and is in my budget Breya deck. Same kind of idea with Thopter assembly + Time siev for infinite turns.
Good budget bomb. Have a free sac outlet and specimine collector on the field. Right before your turn, cast fated infatuation making a token of specimen collector. Sac the original specimen collector, make a copy of the token version, then do that 1 trillion times. You then have 1 trillion 1/1 squirrels ready to attack. The 2 card combo is less than $0.50. Can obviously be more effective with life draining sac outlets, but those are expensive 🤣. I have it in my Araumi deck, have yet to get it to work because Gary is needed before I can get the engine going.
I don't know if it qualifies as a budget bomb but I'm a fan of Reweave from Champions of Kamigawa. It forces a sacrifice to remove the worst thing on the board but it also is useful for aiming at my commander when it's been imprisoned in the moon leaving me up a land with the commander back in the command zone among many other uses
@@NitpickingNerds I agree it's costly but my main uses are Yuriko where the higher cost is a usually good thing, Kalamax where it gets doubled, and Orvar where it fits the artifact recursion theme of my build.
I'm really surprised Terror of Mt. Velus is so cheap. One of the best cards in my Kaalia deck...i imagine it's one of the best in any dragons deck. Only has one printing and it wasn't even in the TBD main set...surprised this is under a buck. In a lot of cases, this dude is basically a red craterhoof (not quite, but close. Someone's dying anyway, haha)
@@brandonbrooks779 that should make it more expensive I would think, not less. Didn't appear in the main TBD set, only.in theme boosters, and who buys those? Haha. Great card in any case, glad it's affordable
