This game is like the equivalent to AC Unity in Assassin's Creed. Games so ahead of their time on multiple fronts, that the studios haven't been able to recapture or surpass it since. Whether it was a disastrous release, bad mechanics or poor story, both games had wasted potential, but they also still hold the blueprint that could lead to the greatest game of their franchises.

Can we all agree that the visuals, art direction, views, atmosphere and overall vibe of this game is the best? It's so beautiful to cruise around and soak in the vibe. Seeing the lights and the city off in the distance. No other AAA racing games IMO after this give the same atmosphere kudos to the devs for that shame how bad the physics were, lack of customization for some cars, and the stupid always online requirement. I wish there was another NFS, Forza Horizon, Crew or whatever title would come out that has this similar art direction or vibe be it night or day time. NFS Heat's map was close but it lacked so much detail compared to this.
I believe that it was so special because they used the frostbite engine with its photo realistic graphics. No other engine, except for maybe Crysis engine has those visuals, and those engines are quite old now and probably has a lot of constraints which is why no other developer is using that for racing games anymore

i played it this year on a 1650 on medium-high and it was still amazing. way better than it was when i used to play on X1. this is my favorite game of the series so far because it clearly focused on car culture. the handling was a 50/50 for me. but i felt like the cars were truly underground racing machines. rip ghost and criterion tho.
the only thing I hated about it is how sometimes cars wouldn't turn at all, but sometimes it's turning without me controlling it, but the rest of the game is just a masterpiece
You could tune the cars to steer more or less or to be more or less sensitive to your controls, and some cars steered more or less than others (the Lancer Evo for example steers a lot less than the Nissan not-350Z), but either way it's at least way better than whatever crack Heat and Unbound smoke with making the cars barely steer at all if you go over 100km/h. Like god damn as someone that went from UG2 to Heat to Unbound to 2015, 2015 feels like a breath of fresh air after those two games and how they literally FORCE you to use their horrible drifting mechanics (accelerate to drift? Really?).
@@sammy13ificationable you can't tune it out but you can mask it. From what I remember, the cars understeer like crazy and then do this huge looping oversteer arc that you can't counteract so you just drive like you're in the drunk mode of a GTA game.

You cant hog into corners at 130 like an idiot, 80 is about the sweet spot. There IS point where if you dip below 50 they get a boat load of front end traction, but I believe the thing that causes most people problems is that the steering return is a little slow, so you have to manually straighten the steering after corners, like a spin tires game, and I think that fucks a lot of people up. I'd like to try one of my setups with a wheel and see how that does, cuz the steering rate with a controller IS a little wonky, but once you get the hang of it and get it figured out, it's not really that bad at all. Just becomes another nuance. I dont think the physics are bad, I MUCH prefer them to next 3 games cuz they dont feel like scripted plastic bullshit. At least the car actually dynamically reacts to the road surface and curbs and things, instead of just "hit box touched a curb, play a scripted car bounce animation so it LOOKS like something happens", its "OH SHIT! OH FUCK! HOLY GODDAMN THERES A CURB THERE!" and your shit gets a squirrelly. Or you come over a Crest too fast the car gets a little bouncy and starts to fish tail cuz the idiot that set it up put way too much camber on their shit and made the suspension too stiff. I've seen people bitch about how the game handles hill tops and it's like, my guy, if you took a 900hp 64 mustang over the top a hill at 170mph in real life, it would bounce when it hits the fuckin ground too
I've said it before, but nfs 2015 was just ahead of its time. It was a bit awkward with the drifting and handling, but I thought if we got a season 2 or something other than the disaster payback was, it could've been perfect.
Games are already miles ahead of this in terms of raw graphical quality. They were really smart with the setting and shading though so it aged super damn well

And here is the issue with modern games. They try to make games for 4k now and the visuals are not realy next gen. Next Gen is just for super high end priced GPU s todays.. Even the ps5 isnt stong enough for 4k next gen. Driveclub runs in 30fps and full hd and looks 2024 still the best. I prefer Fotoeral gaming in low resolution. This game had only one problem, cars spawning intentionaly in your way. Anything else was ok, story telling was not 10/10 but this game was ment to be more car experience than movie.

And reason for that is short loading distance for consoles, and as game is ported to pc without changing of these things, cars loads few meters infront of you. It was a good need for speed, the graphics where so good even on a ps4, game just had a lot of issues, always night time, so u could never really see ur paint jobs properly, but because of the constant night time and wet floors they were able to make the game look insane.
I've been playing it today at 4K-Ultra-60fps and my god! The game looks fantastic! This definetly could be the NFSU3 all of us wanted, It looks hundred times better than the newest ones, if only they didn't ruin it with things like the "alwasy conected" thing.
I literally had the video at 480p before I adjusted it 1080p and at 480p it looked like it was already at 1080p because the graphics are already so good. This game and Batman Arkham Knight is crazy for holding up graphically all these years later to current games.
this is powered by Frosbite engine. same engine used by BFV, this is a good example of better lighting, afaik, they are using fixed static lighting and mostly the whole time is night only which is a good moment to hide the major details so it doesn't strain a lot of your GPU, but the only major weakness in frosbite are character facial animation, which is why they using a mix of live-action actor instead of render them in 3d, then add with 3d models of our car or so. so far, this is the best graphics i've ever seen in all of nfs franchise.
Tbh im really hyped when nfs15 release the trailer, because nfsu2 was my favourite nfs,, ngl ea & ghost did a great job on this game, especially the aesthetic graphics+underground race vibes

Its absolutely unreal how they make the map look so much bigger than it is. Im fine with the size but i love how oversized it looks from these vistas. One of my top games of all time 100%
What they need to do is remake Need for Speed Most Wanted the original. That game to me is still the greatest NFS game ever. The cars were amazing, the police chases were actually hard, you had the two Rhinos that would charge you head on. The blacklist where you had to go up it and knock guys out by beating them. It truly was the most fun Ive had on any NFS game.
For me graphics in 2013-2016 is masterpiece of video games art serious, DriveClub, NFS 2015, or Forza Horizon that's games still have beautiful graphics today, after 8 years ago.
I had to tune the car a heck ton to get nfs type tunign bru,the cambers,low suspension and tires make a huge difference ,and tune the suspension towards drift overall if you don't wanna waste time finding the perfect settings
To this day, this NFS is my all time favorite of the reboot era. Payback, Heat and Unbound will never ever come close to this. The graphics are still incredibly gorgeous by today's standards. Unfortunately, if the handling and physics model wasn't all over the place, this game could have been so much more enjoyable.
2015 - 2016 birthed three amazing looking games by EA/DICE. Star Wars Battlefront. Need for Speed. Battlefield 1. It's been nearly 10 years and no game has looked as good as these until maybe Alan Wake 2.
It's kinda sad the way racing games are going nowadays, they feel soulless It's not that this game is the best ever, far from it, however, I can feel the love and passion behind it, it's weirdly gone nowadays
The online only thing is really annoying and is the cause of most of my problems with the game, although I have similar small complaints about the mini map and gameplay map design as well. For starters, the mini map should have a north point or some kind of compass feature so I know what direction I'm going in, really annoying when I'm trying to orientate myself after a crash in free roam or trying to find something without a way point. Secondly, there should be a zoom out option during freedom and racing so I don't have to pull up the big map all the time. My list of complaints of the actual map is small and they're really more like suggestions but first, they should've utilized the empty areas more. For example the top half of Franklin Terrace I think it's called, or the downtown area of Ventura Bay. The biggest part of the city with all of its lit up and towering sky scrapers and possible parking garages that could be the perfect place for photo shoots, but you can only drive through on the highway with no actual way of properly going through the main city. Very annoying, as it should be the main attraction of the map.

You can upscale image to 4K, and turn on FXAA, not FAA . The game will be much more beautiful. More details, like rain drops

This game had only one problem, cars spawning intentionaly in your way. Anything else was ok, story telling was not 10/10 but this game was ment to be more car experience than movie.

And reason for that is short loading distance for consoles, and as game is ported to pc without changing of these things, cars loads few meters infront of you. Right behind the corner, right after the horizont jump etc.. Adding more traffic and longer loading distance would make this game 10/10 for me.

It was a good need for speed, the graphics where so good even on a ps4, game just had a lot of issues, always night time, so u could never really see ur paint jobs properly, but because of the constant night time and wet floors they were able to make the game look insane.

I literally had the video at 480p before I adjusted it 1080p and at 480p it looked like it was already at 1080p because the graphics are already so good. This game and Batman Arkham Knight is crazy for holding up graphically all these years later to current games.

this is powered by Frosbite engine. same engine used by BFV, this is a good example of better lighting, afaik, they are using fixed static lighting and mostly the whole time is night only which is a good moment to hide the major details so it doesn't strain a lot of your GPU, but the only major weakness in frosbite are character facial animation, which is why they using a mix of live-action actor instead of render them in 3d, then add with 3d models of our car or so.
so far, this is the best graphics i've ever seen in all of nfs franchise.

I played this game on PS4 since 2015, and I played offline frequently due to my poor internet conection back these days. Idk what version you played but you're wrong.
@@thatmfcobra On PC you need the EA launcher to be running and verifying your connection all the time, even if you have bought it on Steam. It's a shame, because I kinda wanted to like this game. It's just... not a very good experience if you sum all of its parts.

Its absolutely unreal how they make the map look so much bigger than it is. Im fine with the size but i love how oversized it looks from these vistas. One of my top games of all time 100%
What they need to do is remake Need for Speed Most Wanted the original. That game to me is still the greatest NFS game ever. The cars were amazing, the police chases were actually hard, you had the two Rhinos that would charge you head on. The blacklist where you had to go up it and knock guys out by beating them. It truly was the most fun Ive had on any NFS game.

I had to tune the car a heck ton to get nfs type tunign bru,the cambers,low suspension and tires make a huge difference ,and tune the suspension towards drift overall if you don't wanna waste time finding the perfect settings

To this day, this NFS is my all time favorite of the reboot era. Payback, Heat and Unbound will never ever come close to this. The graphics are still incredibly gorgeous by today's standards. Unfortunately, if the handling and physics model wasn't all over the place, this game could have been so much more enjoyable.

How in the shit does this look better than gran turismo 7 or horizon 5 wth? 2015 was really the golden era of triple A videogames.
The online only thing is really annoying and is the cause of most of my problems with the game, although I have similar small complaints about the mini map and gameplay map design as well.
For starters, the mini map should have a north point or some kind of compass feature so I know what direction I'm going in, really annoying when I'm trying to orientate myself after a crash in free roam or trying to find something without a way point. Secondly, there should be a zoom out option during freedom and racing so I don't have to pull up the big map all the time.
My list of complaints of the actual map is small and they're really more like suggestions but first, they should've utilized the empty areas more. For example the top half of Franklin Terrace I think it's called, or the downtown area of Ventura Bay. The biggest part of the city with all of its lit up and towering sky scrapers and possible parking garages that could be the perfect place for photo shoots, but you can only drive through on the highway with no actual way of properly going through the main city. Very annoying, as it should be the main attraction of the map.
How does the driving feels? I'm annoyed with modern NFS which you have to drift/powerslide always to be fast
