  • Hey there! In today's video, we will be talking about grant writing for beginners!
    In this video, we outline 5 tips for you to know if this is something you want to jump into! You can also discover if grant writing is right for you 👉 www.learngrantwriting.org/bec...
    1️⃣ Find a real project!
    It can feel overwhelming to approach a non-profit when you don't feel like you know what you are doing, but it is a great way to get real-world experience and jump into grant writing.
    In our main grant writing course, we have options for students to use a sample project or help another student on their project so that you can apply the concepts of grant writing to a real-world project.
    2️⃣ Commit to excellence in project management
    I want you to start thinking of yourself as a project manager. Grant writing has so many moving pieces that it's critical to manage the project effectively.
    3️⃣ Fake it 'till you make it!
    Grant writing seems to always offer new terrain - even if you are an experienced grant writer! Have the confidence to know that everything is figure-out-able and you got this!
    4️⃣ Have a process mindset
    Create a folder structure that works for you organizationally. Figure out which grants are the best grants for your organization to pursue. It's like baking a cake, if you can do it once, you can do it again!
    5️⃣ Don't be stubborn!
    I was really stubborn about learning grant writing and I wasted time and money applying for grants without knowing what to do! Don't waste time and money, consider getting professionally trained in grant writing!

    As someone who is still in college and unsure of what to do after graduation, I was considering going into this part of the writing field.
    However, I desire to be a story writer. Would this option still be a good fit for me to get my foot into the writing field?

    • @LearnGrantWriting
      @LearnGrantWriting  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All great questions. There is a facet of storytelling within grant writing, specifically as you craft a needs statement. I will also add that you do not need to be a writer to get into grant writing, contrary to what you might think. Grant writing requires straightforward, simple language. You can take our career fit quiz to see if grant writing is a good fit for you. You can find that here: www.learngrantwriting.org/successful-grant-writer-quiz/

      Yeah! That's so exciting that you'll be pursuing grant writing. You won't know if you like it unless you give it a try.
