Based on the acclaimed and award winning Swedish novel and film, Låt den Rätte Komma In, Let Me In is the story of Owen, a twelve year old boy who is feeling increasingly isolated and alone. Enduring the bitter divorce between his parents, and being the target of relentless bullies at school, the friendless and helpless Owen secretly spends his time entertaining thoughts of revenge against his tormentors.
When a mysterious young girl and her father move into the complex, Owen finds an unlikely friend in Abby. There's something different about Abby... she only ever seems to come out in the dark of night. But as the two get to know each other in the building playground, their friendship deepens, affording each of them the unconditional love and acceptance they crave.
When Owen finally learns just exactly what makes Abby so mysterious, their devotion and bond become unbreakable.

Say what you want about the English. But the English one had better acting, cinematography and a few really well done scenes ( the car crash, the acid burnt face ). In the Swedish one, the kid actors weren't as strong as the English one. The lighting in the English one beats the Swedish one in every possible way. The Swedish one was more faithful to the source material and better story and writing but it's Matt Reeves who actually made us feel for them.

I disagree! Swedish kids were better imo, the girl especially was miles better. The lighting is a matter of preference, some people prefer the more natural and cold look of LTROI over the more artificial, overly filtered look of LMI.

@@DaphnesRelaxingSounds hmm.. weren't the main and only critiscm of the critics for the original was amateurish acting of kids? Like they felt they were playing in a theatrical play. None of them hit hearts..and I mean it's MATT REEVES..dude made us feel for an APE! it's obvious he knows how to make his main characters emotional.

@@montaquimislamnoor8327 I forgot I made this comment lol. I disagree with that and I haven’t personally heard that criticism. To an extent I can understand why you might have that opinion about the boy. (Kåre) He was still good for the role imo, as the character is supposed to be an awkward and somewhat stoic kid, but I wouldn’t say he was an acting powerhouse. The girl (Lina) however, I thought was so excellent. She had a really natural screen presence and just seemed to inhabit that character so effortlessly. She seems like a normal kid, just burdened with a dark secret and life. In contrast, I thought Chloe in LMI was very much Acting with a capital A, if you know what I mean. You can tell she’s trying really hard to come across as shy/dark and mysterious, and that makes it come across far less natural to me. I’m not really feeling that it’s genuine, just that she wants to come across as a good actor. (To end on a positive note about her though, I was impressed with her in The Miseducation of Cameron Post, finally a role that really suited her and where she came into her own.)

Strongly disagree on let me in having better acting and cinematography and also don't know what reviews you've been reading but one of the biggest praises of the Swedish film IS the performance of the lead child actors, especially the girl as Eli who blows Chloe moretz completely out of the water. I've always found moretz to be a bland actress and let me in is one of many examples. The only time I've seen any criticism towards the acting for let the right one in is from people who watched the film in English dub, which is like just a smh moment in and of itself. DON'T WATCH LIVE ACTION MOVIES IN DUB ITS THE MOST IMMERSION BREAKING THING YOU COULD DO. Let me in is a well done remake but Let The Right One In just feels more natural.

There is a deleted scene that takes place right after this scene that should have been left in the final version but it wasn't for what ever reason. I believe it was a mistake to remove it. Its a big plot hole that strongly adds to the relationship between 'owen' and 'abby'.

While "Let Me In" is well done, I personally favor the Swedish version, "Let the Right One In," mainly due to a significant scene that the American adaptation omitted-the shower scene. European cinema often presents nudity unapologetically, regardless of whether it involves adults or children. This perspective on nudity adds depth to scenes, and the shower scene in "Let the Right One In" is a prime example of this.
In "Let the Right One In," the scene unfolds after Oskar (Owen) initially hesitates to invite Eli (Abby) inside. Eli eventually enters, only to fall sick, resulting in blood pouring from her body, head, ears, and eyes. In "Let Me In," the equivalent scene lacks the same impact. Owen quickly agrees to Abby's entry, leading to a cut where she's already showered and dressed. In contrast, "Let the Right One In" shows Eli taking a shower to wash away the blood, with the camera revealing a secret that reshapes our perception of Eli's identity. This pivotal moment adds layers of complexity to the story.
In "Let Me In," the revelation is that Abby has always been a girl, while "Let the Right One In" suggests an alternative narrative where Eli was once tortured, providing a fresh context for everything that transpired. This scene remains a potent and thought-provoking aspect of the story.
