My favorite line from this movie has to be, "You're gonna regret this for the rest of your life -- both seconds of it."
This movie is a great cautionary tale against society getting too sterilized and protected. People need to be allowed to be people. Sometimes, we screw up. It's our right as humans.

It's really headed that way nowadays. I personally don't care at all when my behavior or language is lude, crude, crass and vulgar. We all have to love how we are day to day. I'm not saying that anything goes and don't live by any rules at all. Just know that there's a time and place for everything. Even when you do deem it appropriate to speak your mind. Your remarks may very well be off queue. That's all part of life we learn as we go.

@@TheSycaman You mean the violence violence? Oh yeah, that is right, I forgot people could give two shyts if someone for example runs over a parade and kills 6 people, injures 60, and terrorizes hundreds with their car but if someone uses an 'illegal' handgun to shoot someone and even just barely graze even one person, it is all you will hear about for a month and will require 20 more laws on restricting "assault" rifles. Meanwhile, the laws will never actually be enforced that can prevent these tragedies anyways, just a big show to get reelected, it looks like they are doing something though, the illusion of security like the TSA or Body Cams on cops.

It’s worth noting that Brave New World is a foundational work in the specific sub-genre of SciFi stories that take place in seeming utopias but are really dystopias actually just like in this movie. So it is meant to be a fairly deep and meaningful easter egg and not just some throwaway reference.

Facts you didn't know about the movie:
Peter Lemkov who wrote the script got the idea after watching The Terminator and Lethal Weapon and thought, "What if a cop and his archenemy were cryogenically frozen wake up 100 years later and then learn that violence doesn't exist anymore?"
He even got the idea of San Angeles after going to Universal Citywalk and Disney's Epcot center, blending the two of them together, giving us the city of the future.
Steven Seagal was considered to play John Spartan while Jackie Chan was considered to play the role of Simon Phoenix, but turned it down a Ms he didn't want to play a villain. Seagal turned it down as well as he wanted a bigger paycheck.
Stallone was cast as Spartan after he liked the script and Wesley Snipes was cast in the role and his fight scenes had to be slowed down as the cameraman had trouble capturing it on film.
Lori Petty was cast Lenina Huxley, but quit production after 2 days of filming and Sandra Bullock was cast instead.
Bullock said in interviews that Stallone was the big brother she always wanted, as she was a fan of his movies
A lot production problems occured onset:
Stallone broke a rib during a fight scene.
A sound stage caught fire and burned to the ground.
A lot of production designers and art directors left the project due to creative differences.
A lof deleted scenes were filmed but cut from the movie:
Phoenix explained to the cryo cons that they are genetically enhanced .
Spartan kills a cryo con named Satoshi with a samurai sword during the scrap city shootout.
Jesse Ventura, who plays a cryo con named Adam, had his scenes cut before the films premiere, as he and the other cryo cons end up getting ambushed by Spartan in an elevator.
Ventura was upset that his scenes were removed.

In the Europe version of the movie it is Pizza Hat instead of Taco Bell.since is Taco Bell is not that common in Europe :). I adore this movie so much. I remember coming across my mums VHS tapes which had an average of two movies on them so I'd start watching some wholesome movie about a boy and his dog only for the next thing movie to be Running Man with The Running Man 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger or this movie Demolition Man. That's how I discovered alot of these classic 1980s to 1990s action movies most of them stuff a 8 year old shouldn't be watching tbh.
Robocop, Total Recall, Demolition Man, Starship Troopers, Highlander, Predator, Aliens, Top Gun, Die Hard, Mad Max 2, Escape from New York, Lethal Weapon, Big Trouble in Little China, Beverly Hills Cop, They Live, Conan the Barbarian, pick any of these movies and you'll have a fun time.
Wesley Snipes is amazing in this movie if you want to see more of him i highly recommend the Marvel Blade trilogy from the first movie in 1998 to Blade: Trinity released in 2004. These pre date the MCU so like Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four they're not connected to any greater universe. Blade 1 and 2 are amazing fun and credited for kick started the whole Marvel wave of movies along with X-Men which is also credited for that. Blade: Trinity is pretty mixed i actually have never seen it but like I said I adore the first two movies.
    Other Stallone Movies:
    Death Race 2000 (1975)
    Paradise Alley (1978)
    F.I.S.T. (1978)
    NightHawks (1981)
    Tango and Cash (1989)
    Oscar (1991)
    Cliffhanger (1993)
Judge Dredd (1995) - Amazing Art Direction but the 2012 Dredd movie with Karl Urban is much more faithful to the characters of the comics even if it lacks the art direction.
    Cop Land (1997)
    Creed 1 & 2 (2015 - 2018)
The Suicide Squad (2021) - Highly Recommend For Reaction, Sly voices a fun main character in this movie.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 & 3 (2017 to 2023) - Plays a character in Guardians 2 but it seems he'll have a much larger role in the sequel releasing in on the 5th of May.

really, what specific things in this film are we headed towards? Keep in mind there is 0 diversity, 0 LGBT stuff, the bad guy is black, and the machines ticket for swears words not slurs, and sex is illegal, and all the music is adds. Looks more like a conservative republican future minus the religion and guns to me. I don't hear people on the right advocating for running down the street naked rubbing jello on your body, they usually hate sex and nudity. All sides hate freedom of speech, FOS is a lie in any society, every group sensors what they find socially unacceptable. So I see nothing in this film that relates to our current sate of things. Please elaborate

@@mikesmollin2043 I don't like getting political on non political channels, but the movie obviously depicts a progressive, egalitarian society where masculinity and individuality are demonized, deemed as "antiquated/obsolete", and everyone is softly coerced (through speech and censorship) to pretend that everyone is equal and happy, but it's obviously only that, an unsustainable fantasy, the fevered dream of some corporate autocrat(s).. trying in vain to hide the ""ugliness" of reality (that makes life actually worth living) beneath its superficial, banal and almost cartoonish façade (like in the scene of the "fancy" Taco Bell).
I think the class dynamics and disguised corporate authoritarianism of the present world -- and pseudo-autocratic tendencies of the future (as many other sci-fis used to present, in the past century) are well summarized also, truly a movie ahead of its time.

After receiving numerous complaints from guests, the restaurant had to put a pair of black underwear to cover up his manhood.

One of my all time favorite sci-fi movies! Great commentary (almost prophetic) on the state of our current online Internet culture/social climate. People on one side trying to make a perfect society where there's no violence of any kind, but at the same time can't take a joke. On the other side, trolls who thrive on chaos, and are constantly poking the other side with the proverbial stick. This movie resonates so much more now than in 1993; it's also a commentary on the absurd militarization of our nation's police, and in this perfect society the absurd "demilitarization"

There’s actually a theory online as to the actual function of the three seashells. Basically, it says that they were a sort of evolution from the traditional sea-themed bathroom decor of the 80s and 90s, and now sort of serve as a psychological thing that helps people relax and actually ‘go’. Which considering the existence of the bidet, it could actually have some scientific validity behind the argument.

My favorite part of this movie is that you can always hear the censor machines beeping in the background if someone swears in or near a building, even if they don't call attention to it directly. In some scenes it's very faint, but it's there. However, as someone with Tourette's Syndrome, I wonder if there is some kind of exception for people like me with Coprolalia (verbal tics that people stereotype Tourette's sufferers with; they're actually pretty rare) or if I would just slowly go bankrupt from constant fines and/or be arrested for repeated violations.
