Speed is a definite must watch. It has the zippy action dialogue you love so much, and the cast is great. Such a ridiculous 90s action movie and I mean that in the best way possible.
Master action producer Joel Silver (Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, The Matrix) was the Kevin Feige of the 80's and 90's. He started his meteoric rise with 48 Hrs., an action movie with a surprising amount of comedy courtesy of Eddie Murphy - often considered the progenitor of the "buddy cop" trope in modern films - and he ALSO produced straight-up comedies with a bit of action (Weird Science, Jumpin' Jack Flash, The Hudsucker Proxy). SOME of his action-comedy hybrids weren't quiiiite understood or fully appreciated in their time, and have since become cult classics. So if you enjoyed the high-quality, comedic cheese of Demolition Man, you're almost certain to find plenty to laugh with - or at - in the following films: Action Jackson, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, Hudson Hawk, and post-2000's, I would add Rock'n Rolla, The Losers, and The Nice Guys to that list. You gotta do Speed. It's mandatory. Another great dialogue film. "Pop Quiz Hot Shot! A terrorist has taken a police office hostage, has enough dynamite strapped to his chest, to Blow a BUILDING in half, now what do you do??"
Welcome back, Shan. We missed you and hope you're feeling better. The Stallone vs Schwarzenegger rivalry was also referenced in Arnolds mid 90's movie Last Action Hero.
This movie will always have a special connection with me because I got to watch parts of the scene when spartan saves the minister at their first meeting get filmed (near where I lived at the time. It was at what was formerly the Fluor Corporation campus in Irvine which was very futuristic looking at the time.
Speed is absolutely worth watching as long as you’re not expecting an Oscar award winning script or storyline. The movie shows off how on screen chemistry can make an absurd premise still work.
When you don't need a film to be "good" but endlessly entertaining, you watch Speed, the pinnacle of high-concept 90's action cinema (before The Matrix, of course).
I'm surprised the trivia didn't say that the movie was based on the novel "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. Even Sandra's character was named Huxley.
There’s a documentary on Tubi detailing the Arnold Sly rivalry and it’s fascinating. Also RIP Bill Cobb. I’m sure you didn’t plan it but ironically glad you put it out when you did.
Your video makes me want to rewatch this! The first time I saw it was in high school, having pizza and wings with my friend and watching movies. They had a massive VHS collection so there was never a shortage of new movies to discover.
Yes, Stallone and Swarzenegger had a rivalry and didn't like each other much back in the day. They would often play mind games with each other in the background and get the other to like and do projects the other didn't want and that is how we got both of them doing some odd projects. They both thought and feared the other was interested and really wanted certain movies, so they would jump in and take the project...
I thought this whole time that you had done a reaction to Rocky. But, after you said you never did a Stallone movie, I had to double check... Not having seen Demolition Man is an outrage... but doing Rocky as a first Stallone movie is even more of a sin. Let's get her watching Rocky!
It was absolutely Stalone vs Schwarzenegger back then. The third option for the hipsters was typically Chuck Norris. The 3 sea shells was commented on by one of the producers years later. Said the toilet paper was just under the sea shells. But in the movie they mentioned it was outlawed. 🤷♂️
It was revealed in a later interview how the three seashells worked. 2 of them are used like castanets to grip the turd, and the thrid is used for scraping. You did ask.
This is my favorite Sandra Bullock movie by far. Fun, silly, campy, and a weird 'What If' look at the future. Certainly not a future I'd want to live in, when they're listening to ad jingles for foods that are illegal to eat. My music library would give them all heart attacks.

4:07 - Yeah, that's another thing SFDebis talks about in one of his videos: They (the production team) got access to this building that was already scheduled for demolition, which in return for letting them use it for the shoot, they would handle the demolition process themselves.
Arnie probably landed the most powerful jab in his rivalry with Stallone when he tricked Stallone into taking the lead in the terrible Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot.

You gotta do Speed. It's mandatory. Another great dialogue film. "Pop Quiz Hot Shot! A terrorist has taken a police office hostage, has enough dynamite strapped to his chest, to Blow a BUILDING in half, now what do you do??"
Tehe
Welcome back, Shan. We missed you and hope you're feeling better.
The Stallone vs Schwarzenegger rivalry was also referenced in Arnolds mid 90's movie Last Action Hero.
Shanelle casually flexing her latin vocabulary😊
Edit; the 3 seashells are just the covers for the bidet controls, hot water, cold water and air dry.
I heard it as flush, bidet (warm water), and air dry. Idk why you’d want cold or hot water up on your bits and butts lol
The writers/director admitted they have no clue how the seashells worked.
I wish
I think it was Italian, not Latin, but it really doesn;t, it sounds sophisticated and pretentious, which was the point.
@@vinapocalypse because it's invigorating.
Great reaction Shanelle, well done for getting the WB block removed! Looking forward to your reaction to Independence Day.
The Stallone/Arnold rivalry was winked at in multiple movies, including Twins and Last Action Hero.
Oh yes, do "Last Action Hero"!
I love this description of Speed, lol
When you don't need a film to be "good" but endlessly entertaining, you watch Speed, the pinnacle of high-concept 90's action cinema (before The Matrix, of course).
Wow Sandra Bullock was alive in 1993 that was so long ago
This movie and Idiocracy were so ahead of their times in predicting how lame the future would be.
Funny thing, there was a PC / Playstation 1 game I lived called MDK. I didn't confirm until recently that they got the name from this movie.
I'm glad that you have finally seen this bucket list movie.
She doesn't know how to use the 3 sea shells 😂
Don't worry, it remains a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
Three seashells were never explained, Bullock was trying twentieth century cliches never works. Cool reaction.
I'm surprised the trivia didn't say that the movie was based on the novel "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. Even Sandra's character was named Huxley.
Not based on, but definitely inspired by.
SPEED is the movie with Sandra Bullock on the bus and YES, please watch it! Love all the reactions BTW.
Hey, everyone...Shanelle Riccio doesn't know how the 3-Sea Shells work....hahahahahaha
😂😂
There’s a documentary on Tubi detailing the Arnold Sly rivalry and it’s fascinating. Also RIP Bill Cobb. I’m sure you didn’t plan it but ironically glad you put it out when you did.
What's it called? I have Tubi.
@@Saiman9000 it’s done by TMZ and has an in-depth interview with the both of them.
@@synical13 Thank you, kind person.
Your video makes me want to rewatch this! The first time I saw it was in high school, having pizza and wings with my friend and watching movies. They had a massive VHS collection so there was never a shortage of new movies to discover.
Sadly, the actor who plays Old Zachary Lamb just passed away a couple days ago. RIP Bill Cobbs
The movie where Wesley Snipes really shows his acting talent the most is Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar.
1993; the year of the self-aware action comedy. For Arnold's contribution, check out Last Action Hero
Give her time

"Take your verbal morality statute and SHOVEL it"
FTFY
Cool, glad to see you got this up.
Stallone movie, "Cobra." Got some classic lines.
Speed? Heck yeah! Must watch. One of the best 90s action movies.
"Send a Maniac to catch a Maniac" def a childhood fave with one of the greatest movie mysteries of all time, the three sea shells : )
Cocteau's killer is played by Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Arnie's "Predator" team member, former wrestler, and then-future Governor of Minnesota.
Seeing this pop up in my feed brought joy-joy feelings!
No one ever recognises the warden of shawshank
He is literally the same character, insufferable in both.
@@jeffreysmith236 I think the head shave confuses them.
He's an insufferable, progressive, obsessive control freak. But a good person. He could have easily played the doctor bad guy also.
I did... ☹
Bob Gunton? Sure. He's one of the most typecast actors out there, always playing a pompous prick, sometimes but not necessarily criminal. "Ace Ventura 2", "Broken arrow" ... he shows up in so many a 90s movie.
Sandra Bullock was 29 when this came out. If her character is the same age, Lenina Huxley was born in 2003, so she’s a Gen Zer.
Great timing
The Police Chief was also the evil warden in "Shawshank Redemption".
Captain Benjamin Maxwell.
Bob Gunton.
@@Madbandit77 Always enjoy his performances.
And “The Ghost Farmer” in GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE (without spoilers)
@@Artman1991 I don't think Shanelle has seen the FOUR Ghostbusters films yet.
For some excellent Stallone action and acting, First Blood and Rocky are top notch.
I know, I myself have recommended these to her on multiple occasions. She keeps insisting in avoiding Rocky with the excuse that she's already seen it. 😫 No reason to stop trying!
"I can't pick Wesley Snipes out of a lineup." He is the one about a head shorter than he used to be..
That joke is just cold bro
@@SgtPnkks I hope I don't shatter his ego
Cold as hagen dasz
4:07 - Yeah, that's another thing SFDebis talks about in one of his videos: They (the production team) got access to this building that was already scheduled for demolition, which in return for letting them use it for the shoot, they would handle the demolition process themselves.
How ?
@@lexkanyima2195 Well...with his mouth. That's how everyone says things.
Arnie probably landed the most powerful jab in his rivalry with Stallone when he tricked Stallone into taking the lead in the terrible Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot.
Hearing that story told by both of them in a sit down they did for the Escape Plan was hilarious
I love that movie. It's fun.
Shanelle inspires joy-joy feelings.
The 3 seashells stuff has been a big thing for decades
Definitely saw this at the theater. I remember the Taco Bell commercials of this time period using that snippet of her saying "Now all restaurants are Taco Bell." in their commercials. They promoted this movie and the movie helped promote them. Miss those days when Taco Bell would have the big plastic collector cups and stuff for whatever movie they were pushing. ❤❤❤
Really
I didn't realize they liked to huff helium in the future. Lol at the edits :)
This movie really is a warning about how everything that is going on now
Not just woke. It will not working.
No. It isn't. The current threat is of a very different nature.
"Speed? Should we do that?" YESSS!!!!!!!!
Was just binging your videos!! Then I see you posted !
Yes Stallone and Schwarzenegger were rivals at one point. They got over it and along with Bruce Willis started the Planet Hollywood restaurant business.
The three sea shells are buttons for wash.......rinse............... dry.
7:15 snipes was verbally hacking the computer system. Something that was proven possible quite recently.
How ?
@@lexkanyima2195 how it was demonstrated or how it works
I love this film. I caught it on VHS, one of my parent's extensive collection and it was one my siblings and I would watch over and over when our parents weren't home, lol. My little sister to this day absolutely adores Wesley Snipes. He's such a badass.
Yeah! You should do "Speed"! Sandra Bullock had actually low key been around before then, and you can find older movies of hers, but this movie and then "Speed" really blew up her career.
@10:39 Reporters like that shouldn’t be reporters. The little girl’s response was perfect.
So true
