Some really good points from Mark there, particularly in regards to the younger, next generation of County fans. I'm a Sunderland fan but have lived in Stockport since 2012. We now have young kids who were born in Stockport and who will most likely live in Stockport until they're old enough to stand on their own two feet. I've decided to bring them up as County fans (hopefully with Sunderland as their second team) Stockport is their home town and I strongly believe that the atmosphere created in stadiums and the connection between fans and their home town team can't be forced. My youngest is 4 and he is absolutely Stockport County mad already, congratulations to everyone involved and keep it up :)

As a lifelong United supporter and season ticket holder , I have nothing but love and respect for County and the people now responsible for running the club. For some years I’ve attended games at Edgeley Park and always came away thinking positively about the experience. Something changed when a United side visited the club ( in a cup competition). I sat there supporting County and thought United had very few players that lived up to all the hype and ‘promise’. It’s hard to let go of my football loyalty, but am I a Stockport fan - absolutely. Who wouldn’t be , it’s football as it was , as it should be.

I’m hearing so many stories of children of City and United fans making County their club, I can see it when I pick my Granddaughter up from school, the amount of kids wearing some sort of County related gear appears to be exceeding those of the big 2, this would never have happened 20 years ago.

I didn't follow Football for close to a decade.
Completely fell out of love with it, plus it became difficult to watch lower league from overseas (based in the US). Then I started watching my hometown team, County, a few years ago.
The love of football came racing back and I've watched almost every game for the last few seasons.
I am so proud of this team, of Mark and the staff behind the scenes, for putting our town under the spotlight in (for once) GOOD, kindly light. It's rekindled my love for the sport I grew up with, and its now a love I've passed along to my four wains (all of whom are County fans despite having only been back there once).
Keep up the good work lads (I am still bitter about Paddy though, so you're not getting my complete praise 😂)

55 years watching County and watched this with a big smile on my face and a teary eye.
County fans at my school were scarce so great to see so many kids now County.
Yes it’s business but there’s almost a philanthropic tone to Stotts approach.
Surrounded himself with good people, and great Steve Bellis is involved to keep it real.
    Thanks.

Amazing interview. How lucky are we to have an owner who doesn’t sit down and give it the Billy big bollocks, he’s enjoying the journey just like us and surrounds himself with the right people to make the right decisions.
Fair to pay to Simon Wilson, he’s proving me and a lot of other people wrong.

Great interview Jon. I'm with Mark regarding the plan to try and coax City and United fans to EP. Some people just want to watch a decent game of football for a decent price, let them come and enjoy it. Who knows, they might then become fans for life. That's what happened with my Dad. Grew up as a United fan in Manchester, but then moved to Stockport and started following the local club. He's now on his like 30th year as a season ticket holder (yes including the National League North years) and he absolutely loves County. I don't see how that's a problem if it means people in the stands, and money for the club.

We're so, so lucky to have this guy as an owner. He gets it. He gets what it means to people, he gets that success isn't just on the pitch with the first team, he has a genuine desire to improve Stockport as a town and he understands that you can spend your way into massive trouble if you're not careful. I can't describe what this means after all those years of mismanagement. To have the ambition he has, the nous to go about things the right way and the intelligence to know when people know better and to defer to them (bringing in Challinor!) is the stuff of EFL dreams, frankly. I never thought I'd feel this good, this proud, about being a Stockport County fan.
I love my club, love my manager, love my owner. How many football fans can say that? Cheers thank you, Mark. Here's to many more years of this.

Love that. Me and my kids go to around 10+ games a season and the odd away game and have done since 2017. They are ManU and City fans but they love going to County and we go as a family, so marks plan to keep the tickets low and bring more fans in is great. We go and love it

Gutted about letting Paddy go, Ryan and Hippo too, but a pretty clear and honest answer about it. As with Dave there's no vague non answers. Also the idea that we want to bring in young players to sell on at a profit to be sustainable is a pretty sensible goal if we want to get to the championship and stay thereabouts off what we'll be generating in the long run.

Indeed plan to drive revenue up but selling out of programmes at 2.15pm before the last home game was a shame and a missed opportunity. Only £3 but a lovely memento of winning League 2 that I don't have.

Seeing the way some of us fans go on with ourselves on social media and then comparing it to how Mark talks: that's why he's where he is and why we are where we are! That's also why County are on the trajectory they are. Left to one of us lot... I shudder to think 😬
