I was itching to incorporate the Temporal Institute into more than just the regular game mechanics guide series (that I'll need to find time to work on more of!) I'm glad you like it! I think I'll be doing most future tutorial videos in a similar style. :)
Thank you! I had to learn a couple new editing tricks to get the title transition looking the way I wanted, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out!
Thank you so much! I get a lot of enjoyment out of the editing process, so I'm glad the time I put in is adding value for you! I did a livestream for the process of filming the build tutorial portion of this video if you're interested in seeing how the shots were planned out!
Thank you! If I had to pick one block as my favorite, I'd probably have to go with polished chert. Depending on the other blocks around it, it can look more brown or more red, and when chiseled down it can look like old, rusted cast iron! (Makes for great rust patches when using polished basalt as the clean parts of cast iron!)
I go to build this and of course the ONE spring near me (and the only one I’ve found) is smack in the middle of a temporally unstable region. Time to get creative and make a new design
The only question i can think of... Do you get FULL loot drop or are they considered "killed by X-non-player" thus resulting in reduced drops? Inask because i do have a nice large hotspring near by but waaaaay up a mountian. So its gotta be worth that much construction to get a clear easy path up and get good loot. Otherwise the simple pit type "farms" that can be built next door to my house would be better.
As of right now you do indeed get full drops! I'll be keeping an eye out on patch notes as VS develops to check for anything that affects the build. :)
You can! I'd recommend making the chamber you stand in a bit larger to account for crawlers being pressed up against the wall since they might be able to reach you to strike back. You'd want to use spears to have the range to hit drifters stuck beyond the fences, or even remove the fences altogether if reach is an issue. Your drops might end up being lower with this method since some drifters may have the chance to throw rocks toward you, hitting their buddies and starting some in-fighting. This design isn't made to account for the new 1.20 mobs, so keep that in mind and maybe widen out the intake opening up top if you've updated already.
It's definitely easier to go with a 4 voxal thick chiseled carving chamber wall compared to the 3 voxal thick one I've done. That way you don't have to worry about trying to use the chiseltools mod's tools quite as much. It would work just the same, only difference is needing slightly better aim when using a knife to harvest drifters!
Awesome guide, appreciate it. Though sometimes the drifters get stuck around the outside corner blocks when they drown and I can't reach them. Any solutions or is this to be expected?
Hey, thank you! If the water is flowing correctly, the drifters should be pushed up against the glass no matter where they end up down there. If they're not being funneled toward you, you may want to (very carefully) put temporary blocks under the water sources, then remove them all again, starting with the corners, so the water flow can recalculate. If they're being pushed correctly but you can't reach them through the glass, just make sure the carving slot positions are correct and shimmy yourself a bit closer to that corner. I haven't had any issues so far, so I hope one of these solutions helps! :)
Chert... thank you for providing the tools to survive the post apocalypse!
Not just survive, but thrive!
Loved some well boiled drifter to start my mornings.
It'll getcha going faster than any coffee lol
"The Temporal Institute"! LOL Awesome
Nothing like a series of educational tapes from a shady group of scientists to add a little spice to things, haha
Excellent tutorial. Even a chisel guideline!
Thank you! I figured a diagram would be easier to use as a guide than just showing the chiseling process :)
you are a gifted creator thank you for sharing
Thank you, I like sharing my hairbrained contraptions 🤣
The return of Prof Chert! Woo!
It felt like the right kind of thing to incorporate the institute into :)
Freaking love the temporal institute, this is a great way of making instructional videos

Your ability to edit video is AMAZING! I love your videos! Thank you so much for the work that goes into these.

Vault-Tec commercial: Steampunk edition.
Haha yeah, that's definitely the vibe
this is incredibly well done
Thanks! I got to learn a couple more editing tricks to get the effects I was looking for to turn out right, so that was a lot of fun!
Simply awesome video, the boiler rooms good too ;)
Haha thank you! I think the editing was more complex than the build lol
Let him cook... the drifters
Good soup 🍲
Practicality and functionality! My favorite! Nom nom nom!
...Shoosh! I enjoy my cringe sometimes! Awesome design ^^ Thank you very much!
Probably shouldn't nom on the drifters, lots of rust, high risk of tetanus! :P
@@Solstin ....okay I can't resist this set up!
I've had a tetanus shot, I'm good! And rust sounds like a fancy word for crunchy ketchup!
Well made! Ty
Thanks! :)
What is your favorite block in vintage story? I love how you edit your videos!
Thank you!

That's rough, but luckily if you're only going there during temporal storms then it shouldn't be too bad! (Unless it's SUPER unstable there)
Beautiful 🥺
Thank you! :)
Super video!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! It was a fun little dip into something more editing-intensive before diving back into Eisenholm :)

What would happen if I don't have a spring and just use water? Would I still be able to kill them thru the chiseled gap or would drown?

Your sub count needs to increase tenfold... this was f*n awesome.
Haha thank you! :)
I need a video on finding a good starting place, I can never decide and end up just exploring . Same for the other block game.
A good starting place can be a very subjective thing, but I think I could add that to the list of videos to make between Eisenholm episodes! :)
@@Solstin also, every place I really like has the gear going backwards at a very fast pace every single time.
@@GenXGamerGirl gravel deserts are where I usually experience that
I have tried to do this, but the pantogram and chisel is difficult to use to keep a trim like you have done.
