    2 great tips that helped me for learning from youtube videos:
    1. 'K' on the keyboard pauses the video. 'J' and 'L' skip back or forward 10 secs. Left & right arrow do the same but 5 secs
    2. when the video is paused, you can move back or forward one frame at a time with the ',' or '.' buttons on the keyboard. Great to slowmo solos.

      I actually have a life hack if you cut your fingers.
      Super glue. Sounds crazy, but it works.
      I cut my left index finger on a metal sheet one time, and after like 3 days of not being able to play at all, I just started gluing it shut, and playing until the glue rubbed off.
      Bends were still painful and sliding tore through the glue pretty fast, but it's better than either not playing, or trying to play with an open wound where a fingertip should be.
      Probably dont pour the superglue in the cut, I mean, I did, but I'm reckless, and kinda stupid sometimes.

      Amazon has packs of 6 for really cheap, and they're identical to the Dunlop brand of speed capo. I bought a pack a few years ago and I'm still using the first one (I thought they would be crappy and break). All different colours. I was really shocked how sturdy they were, and since we have 5 guitars in the house already (and possibly another one tomorrow - a 7-string finally), it's just easier to have one with every guitar. Plus, 2 of us play, so we have to have at least 2 anyway if we jam. This is the Canadian site, but you should be able to find it on your country's site. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B013UGGAEU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That's holding down the Shift button and then the pressing the comma or full stop button, respectively. You can also see all of these commands by doing [Shift + /]

    * Scratch book; pen; marker (mostly used for creating set lists or chord progressions at rehearsels)
    * 9V battery

    * Power supply for keyboard
    * USB charger
    * Hardware tool that came with a multi-guitar stand
    * Multi-tool (rarely if ever used, but gives peace of mind)
    * Strings for various guitars. Before big events, I check that they are still complete and that I know which sets go to which guitars
    * Tablet holder (to attach tablet to microphone stand)
    * Mobile phone holder (mainly for Facebook Live Events at the end of band practice sessions)
    * Handouts that I use at sing-alongs
    * Various piece papers with chord diagrams written on them (for occasional teaching)
    * Strap holder: Got them from a friend, but haven't used them yet
    * Various beverage tokens that I got from venues where I played, that I haven't used :)
    When packing for rehearsels, I usually have to add only these things:
    * Tablet (I don't play from paper - Everything's online: strompf.com)
    * "Wireless cable"
    * Guitar cable (as backup or when using multiple instruments).

    Loved the legal gumpth glooped into the strap-lock hack.... which I'm going to try, thinking possibly tap washers as well...
    A Targus business laptop backpack is my magic bag, pedalboard in the laptop part, LOADS of pockets for fiddly bits like batteries and spare strings, assorted cables with separate velcro straps go in the spot for files - gig file fits in there as well. Extra space left over. A cheap cordless screwdriver would do the low stress job of string winding.... next thing for my magic bag, didn't think of that.

    I love the phone trick! I used to play cheap Japanese plywood guitars - Teiscos and Zentas and the like - and the pickups were so microphonic you could shut into the pickups or put a wineglass on the scratchplate and run your finger round the rim and the noise would come through the amp.Endless creative possibilities!

    The separate gig case of bag works well, you have to discipline yourself not to raid it when you quickly need a tool or a lead or some strings! Also, the drill-fitting string winders are available to buy, all moulded into one, so they’re a bit stronger - I know this was a mixture of advice and fun though, which I really liked

    I don't have a watch pocket, but I do have a nice little leather pouch that attaches to my keyring, and I always have my keys (and thus picks) with me. I play fingerstyle most of the time so I don't use them for guitar so much, but I also am learning to play the mandolin, and I do pick the guitar on occasion. Now if only the fingerpicks for my banjo would fit in there...

    Good video. To clean old strings I use the tiny little alcohol wipes in individual packages used when getting a shot in the arm. Wrap it around the string and scrub, all right on the guitar. But if it's acoustic you'll want to mute the string on either side of the wipe because the sound is horrific if you don't. I'm also careful not to get rubbing alcohol on the fretboard or other exposed wood surfaces.
