Man after a long stressful day at work your videos are the perfect way for me to unwind Scotty. Thanks for everything you do and the effort you put into this channel mate. So many of us here appreciate it mate. P.S take me with you on a trip!
the comment about us flying through space on this rock with other bits of rock flying about, they are bound to hit and how fragile we are. And then you say how nice that sun feels. Makes you appreciate life. Best of luck from England.
Nailing those trout! Yes, those CNOC bags are the best. I like the fact that one can open the end of the bag with the handle/slide closure and easily fill the bag. Place your filter of choice on the other end and filter away. I bought two of the 3 liter bags and keep one in my kit at all times. I'll just hang the bag up if able and place my wide mouth water bottle under the filter end and go about other camp chores while keeping an ear out for the progress of the pour. When I don't hear the water falling in the bottle anymore I know it's time to check it. ;-) Great location btw! The American 19th century woodsman, George Washington Sears a.ka. Nessmuk wrote in his book, "Woodcraft and Camping" that simple ingredients and simple cooking of them is best for the outdoorsman. ( like your trout and potatoes) George was born the next town over from where I live and grew up playing amongst the local Nipmuc native American tribe camped on the nearby, Webster Lake (Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg in their native tongue) in Webster, MA. As a young adult he moved to Wellsboro, PA. I don't know if you've ever read his book, but I find it one that I repeatedly read not only for the useful information contained in its pages, but it always takes my mind back to a time when areas of America were a much wilder place with far fewer people and much more game and fish. The book is available on Amazon in paperback for very short money. Great video!
Bread is a little thick but it looks good. Gotta get your flatbread skills built up while you are at home so you can do it properly even with the inconsistent heat and small pan when camping.
Im still amazed to see Fjällräven clothings being worn by so many outside of Sweden. The brand is quality but when i was a kid the brand wasnt *that* big. It was for swedes. Feeling proud.
Would love it if you could share some tips on how you find spots to camp in the Snowys. I love it up there but usually go to NP campgrounds. Would live a short hike and pitch my hiking tent near a river and do a bit of fishing.
A stunning portrait of the High Country......what a pristine and exceptional part of the world . Your gentle footprint on this land sends a message to those that follow can respect this place as you do. Some really beautiful photography reminiscent of some Scottish Highland streams where fishing is not so free ! Taking one for dinner is also a great reminder to those trophy hunters who measure success by the fish in their bag!
Hey mate love the show you should’ve let the dough rest abit (in a bowl or plate covered in cling wrap) after rolling it out and it would’ve been perfect!
Scott if they swim under something (that rock) and you can't move to change your angle of attack, let all the pressure off and wait, sometimes they will swim themselves out, sometimes.
Those big pools with the scrubby areas are where you want to fish mate, for that situation you could try extending your leader and adding a float or a second bigger fly, floating it down into there from upstream. Good to see you getting some catches, those big fella's are hiding in those big pools. Looking forward to seeing you catch a donkey one day! Also, 11:33, the bottom of that fall- bigger fish will sit there.
The key to fishing as I was told was to Match the Hatch......Pick up a rock in the water and see what is hatching at the time and use those lures. The guy was a pro at it ! fun times !
Love Mountain Culture beer, and that tent looks like a great piece of kit. Love that part of Australia, even though I'm usually heading through it on a motorbike and not hiking.
i hav 3 sizes of the aluxe hex shaped tents the largest (megahorn) with the woodstove inside has become favourite for winter car camping used it up at 3 mile dam and bogong high plains in middle of this year sheds snow very well, resists strong wind better than a dome and is super cosy inside for hiking the smallest hexpeak is just that, small but the next size up hexpeak is good
Love these adventures! We’ve been using our CNOC bag/sawyer squeeze combo for about 2.5 years now and we can’t fault it! Flow rate hasn’t slowed down either, we just do a few washes/back flush with demineralised water after a trip and it’s all good. No calcium/crud build up etc. Just remember to pop the filter into your sleeping bag on those cold nights so the membrane doesn’t freeze on this one 😂
It's so good to see that country looking green and all that water! Last time I was there was just after the 2020 fires and it just broke my heart to see everything ravaged by those fires
Great to see you doing a spot of fishing 🎣 in your videos. You find the most epic spots that fishermen would work up a sweet over and it would be offensive not to have a cast. Love your content 👌
Another great video! Just a quick thought on the fly fishing…I love dropping a nymph 18-24” below that dry fly. Judging by that fly box in your video, those worm patterns can be a good bet as the dropper in rainy weather. Cheers from the United States!
Hey mate first time watcher and I love it! Just a heads up, if those Worm flies you've got in your box (pink ones) are silicone get them away from your other flies. They'll ruin your whole box of flies
Really nice in the high country. Pretty good fishing with all those bites. The fish dinner looked so good. Making pita bread from scratch when camping...pretty impressive. That shooting star sounded amazing. I've seen a few, but never as big as you described. Very relaxing video and enjoyable as always. HooRoo!
I love your show. Now I love it even more with the Biltong. 👍👍👍 I would love to make some Emu and Kangaroo Biltong with the proper Biltong spice. Beautiful river and camp site.
Love watching your journey and commitment to fishing, from a lot of vids trying and coming up short to this.... Love it. Just proves stick with it and you will learn.
I really love that you've learned how to fish! I remember having to tell you to keep your shadow off the water. This is awesome Scotty! It gives me hope that you guys can do more than text in acronyms.
Living in Colorado we have limitless creeks, streams and rivers to fish but I love the openness of that country you fish there. The ability to see up and down that stream with the views is exceptional. A very good video with some weather too. Great pack trip.
The great thing about Australia, too, is that we have no bears, no wolves, no moose, no mountin lions and nobody with a gun for hundreds of miles... None of our animals can chase and eat you like in North America, so hiking and fishing and camping in Australia is incredibly safe unlike where you are...
That video was great 👍 my top 3 favourite videos are the traditional swag camping and the high country fly fishing ones and the new survival video you did keep up the good work mate
6.55 the SAS from Wiseman is a good one..in Holland we got it in the size of a "sleeper"..5x8 cm. For sure you can get the English translation I reckon...pitty I can't include pics.
Absolutely amazing videos you make, so peaceful and unwind watching them. What a life, makes me miss my adventures with my brother when we were younger.
Classic Australian trout fishing. That's a lovely stretch of river. Further upstream I once spent almost an hour casting to a small trout in a pool under a willow (the willow is probably gone now). I tried almost every fly in the box; eventually the fish took a small emerger fly. Small fish but it kept me amused for a long time. :)
Thank you for your content, for some of us who can`t get to these beautiful places, you bring them home for us to enjoy them as well... I especially must commend you on your appreciation, and respect of our wonderful country`s landscapes and river systems, makes me proud to be an Aussie living in such a beautiful country... You're a fantastic ambassador for our country worldwide... Well done...
It's just incredible what beauty, what atmosphere you were able to create. This is truly a meditative experience watching you. I myself started making videos about my adventures, so I'm interested in everything.
Scotty you got a shout out on the TH-cam channel bushcraft survival Australia there video "interview dunning Kruger affect" at 50mins 30 seconds for being a great channel.
Mate, your fishing has improved out of sight, The flies provided by 'Flyoutcast' seems to have been a could investment/placement by them. Congrat on another great video.
Another great Alpine adventure and video Scotty. I hope your back up there next June-July for the spawning run as I would like to see you catch some of the big trout that are running up stream.
Man after a long stressful day at work your videos are the perfect way for me to unwind Scotty. Thanks for everything you do and the effort you put into this channel mate. So many of us here appreciate it mate. P.S take me with you on a trip!

26:35. To quote Tom Gleisner - "That looks like an ingredient".
Never disappoints, mate. After being inspired by your adventures, I'm off on my first overnighter on Saturday. Thanks for the motivation.
How you feel over night alone

Better than listening to someone lol can connect to nature.
Re-watching some of your vids, how magic is the high country!!
Thats my favourite creek! Well done for hiking down and back. Gods country for sure.

Spectacular country and the changeable weather made it even more beautiful. One of your best videos yet!
Just got back from a week down there. Mixed weather - beautiful one day then snow the next.
Beauty of a trip. The pita bread was a great lookin meal. Keep on fishing. Cheers from B.C. Canada.
Wow what a lovely scenery.
The key to fishing as I was told was to Match the Hatch......Pick up a rock in the water and see what is hatching at the time and use those lures. The guy was a pro at it ! fun times !
