    great news, you quite generously give us the trigger WITH the flash, so saving us another purchase, as we most likely will want one anyway!

    great to know this CAN work with leaf shutters, as some of us use MF / LF cameras, without any electronics in them, these also typically have NO hot shoe (a much much later technology, as some of these cameras are 1950's vintage), so there ARE people who do appreciate the 'speed mode'; as well as the "agnostic" nature of the transcivers, NO need for a separate one for each camera!, so saves money, for other gear, or Film.

    I would like to know if the Elinchrom D-Lite RX works with fast times like 1/8000 of a second - with which transmitter

  • @TheOfiz
    @TheOfiz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi there,
    How come the transmitter only has odd channels? And the light goes up to 8 channels. Is it possible to utilize all 8 channels that are on the flash unit?

    • @elinchromLTD
      @elinchromLTD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right. On the Transmitter Plus, these channels are the only ones available for hardware reasons, and, indeed, this is not always convenient.
      If you wish to use the complete range of channels, you have to use the Transmitter Pro.

    ....thanks for this wonderful tutoriel !
    I have just bought the RX 4/4 kit and own a Sony Cobra flash HVL-F43M, as well...
    I have now understood how to use it with the normal mode (when my Cobra is put on my Sony alpha 7 III) in manual mode and here is my question.
    If I put the provided Skyport on my Alpha7 III, with the speed mode (red one), can I also use my Cobra's flash deported, in the TTL as well ?
    Will that mean that both Elinchrom studio's flashes will start at the second Cobra's flash only, avoiding in that case the "black" picture?
    Many thanks for your next answer...
    Olivier

    It's strange to me that the fixture itself denotes the different frequency channels as F1, F2, F3, F4, and so forth, but the transmitter denotes them as 1, 3, 7, 9, etc. So does that mean if I'm set to F1, that's 1, and F2 is 3, and F3 is 7? Why on earth would it be designed that way? The transmitter should match the fixture.

    I'm curious. I tried to chat with a couple about this but they quit responding when I call them out on their inconsistent statements. 1) Will the D-Lite RX4 work the same way as the Quadra if plugged into a power source such as the Paul C. Buff Mini Vagabond? In other words could you use it like the Quadra for high sync outside from similar distances. 2) Can you use the D-Lite RX4 in the studio combined with the Quadra for something like a 3 light set up?
    Will the RX4 sync to 1/8000? Can you use any power setting at any shutter speed to achieve a desired exposure. I'm looking for the most flexible option for lighting on a budget. I've been looking at the Godox stuff as well as Interfit S1 lights and the like. I really like some of the features of the Elinchrom lights but just want to know what draw backs there could possibly be.
    I watched the video with Joe Brady regarding the El Skyport Plus HS but it left some questions unanswered. When I asked him about using High Sync in the studio he contradicted what he said in the video. Which is true? Can you high sync with high shutter to keep ambient down like he demonstrated or not? Confused and looking for answers, I'd like to make a decision soon. One other item, will the Quadra Hybrid you have on sale for $599 with the S head be capable of the same? I realize I may have to go with the HS head to get to 1/8000 but someone told me you can do 1/4000 with the S head which should be good enough for now. Thanks in advance for your quick response.

      Hi Todd.
      1. Yes, but the trade offs are weight and recycling time
      2. Yes, no problem
      3. Yes it works fine, its just that the HS head is really optimized for Hi-Sync. I really depends on your camera, with some you’ll have no problem, with others, at 1/8000 you may see a little grading effect.

    Hi elinchrom and thanks for this tutorial. I got two d-lite rx4 and a skyport hs but i dont find the way to connect them: pushing up/down buttons nothing change on my dlite4, no sub-menu or other function. How i could test them? There is difference between rx4 (mine) and rx4it? Both model got inside skyport receiver? Thanks for support

    • @elinchromLTD

      The D-Lite it is the previous version of the D-Lite RX. The build-in receiver can only trigger your flash, power control and power display is not available unfortunately.
      Please have a look to our compatibility chart:www.elinchrom.com/support/ELSP-HS.html

    Hi! I have the D-Lite RX 4 set and the modelling lamp does not turn on on either head. I have confirmed that I have the correct voltage lamp and have gone through a series of tests to figure out why it won't turn on but have had no luck thus far. Is there a quick or known fix to this? Many thanks!

    • @filmic1
      @filmic1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Sarah, the Elinchrom's use proprietary 100w modelling lamps. The thread on the bulb is specific to Elinchrom. Plus you have to screw the bulb in tight. I found just screwing the modelling lamp in as one would a regular light bulb into a lamp socket, I found not to be enough. I had to 'really' give the modelling lamp a 'turn' before the lamp sat securely and both contacts in the socket engaged the modelling lamp. It's spooky because one is wondering if the bulb will break.

    The fellow who sold me his D-Lite RX4 gave me an "EL Skyport Speed" but he also gave me the USB Speed for my laptop. I asked about the Skyport Plus you are using here at my local camera retailer and she told me the EL=Skyport Speed is the correct Skyport for the RX4 kit available in Canada not the one (Skyport Plus) you are demoing here. The retailer was selling the Skyport Plus you are demonstrating here in the showcase. Will the Skyport Speed not work with leaf shutter cameras? even if I set the head to r2 for leaf shuttered cameras? I am curious to know what you, Elinchrom, think about that. Thanks.

    • @elinchromLTD

      Dear Gary, The Skyport Plus is the new version of the Skyport Speed. www.elinchrom.com/skyport/transmitter-plus.html
      The Skyport Speed still works perfectly with lead shutter cameras. www.elinchrom.com/skyport/speed.html

      Thanks, Elinchrom! I love this set. I worked with Bowens' Monoblocs in '75 in a small studio. Then Speedotron's when I took some studio lighting and studio fashion at a college. These Elinchroms are slick.

    Good flash for the money but the flash duration is poor, only managing a t0.1 duration of 1/197 at lowest power and 1/266 at full power. This is an important area to look at when buying studio flash and often overlooked. Companies normally provide a t0.5 result which is not what you really need to know. Hand holding for portraits at low power or freezing subjects is not what this flash is best for and should be addressed by the company in future. It is often found you cannot use your cameras max sync speed with this flash either and would be limited to around 1/160 shutter speed at best.

    • @elinchromLTD
      @elinchromLTD  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @SuperFotoZ We use Hi-Sync to freeze motion, not HSS. And the D-Lite 4 RX is perfectly compatible with this feature due to its low flash duration.
