    The main thing for me is....I need to record footage, not just watch it live. So I have bought an SD card....recorded footage....attached the SD Card in adapter into my macbook computer....the SD Card shows up, but no footage as I have to reformat it or something....I tried to do this and it's not working. How do I get the SD card footage onto my computer? and what video playback programme does it play in?- the default one on your computer like quicktime?

    Hi Will, thank you, thank you, thank you for this very simply explained video. I have not been able to work out for hours of trawling the website and trying to work out how it logically connected to my Wi-Fi, within minutes with you I got it. I was half an hour away from bringing it back to the shop but thought I would give it one last attempt when I found your video. So pleased.

    My first pan tilt zoom cam. For the price I had to give one a go. It was easy to set up my only downfall was formatting the micro sd card. For some reason i didn't see the option to format by the camera itself, so i formatted it on my PC and of course then tried again and it didn't like it. At that point i then saw the further option on the menu, did it and bingo... Job done. Dead impressed for the money and it's given me a little insight as to how useful such things are. P.S. Got it to see what my cat gets up to at night, quite amusing to see the mischief when Im in the land of nod and he's launching himself of every piece of furniture lol

I own a couple of different IP cams, and each app I use has good/bad points when using the playback features. Would be nice to see this aspect fully covered in a review of this security cam.

      I just tried viewing the camera's stream using VLC Media player on my Win 10 PC and it worked fine.

    Good honest review Will. Does recording start when motion is detected and also is a subscription required for this feature?

      If i remember correctly, you have to connect to the camera's wifi, then input your wifi info and it will restart and connect

    TP link are good value, I bought the outdoor 310 model for outdoor security, pair it up with Ispy and you can get a pretty good system for a very good price. (26 quid here) I am looking at the C200 for indoor use after watching your video and migh just splurge out the 17 quid asking price they ask over here! A few years back these IP cameras would have cost you an arm and a leg, unbelievable value for what they do. As for the REBOOT- never needed to do a reboot in a month, (Except when I messed up)

    Quite a good review mate! I have just subscribed and I hope to see you at the top youtubers soon ;) One quick question if you allow me, do you think that the MicroSD card is secured with the camera? I mean if I we imagine that I am a thief, I would simply remove the MicroSD and keep doing what I am about to do, so you won't have any record of me doing that. As far as I know TP-link doesn't support Cloud storage still, which makes the MicroSD the only way to store the recording, am I correct?

    • @WillSurridgeTech
      @WillSurridgeTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not secured within the camera, but it does sit under the camera, so you will have to be on camera before the sd card can be taken
      This means you will have probably received a notification about it, and you could record to an NVR or other network storage if you’re worried
      Alternatively place it out of sight, or out of reach

      If you are away from home and have motion detection & notifications ON then should a thief trip the camera's motion detection you should get a notification a few seconds later - there's a fair bit of lag.
      If you react to the notification quickly enough - that's before the thief kills the camera - then you will be able to take pictures or record video directly to the phone's memory which can then be saved in the phone's gallery app. Not ideal but better than nothing.

    • @WillSurridgeTech
      @WillSurridgeTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can defiantly save photos, I'm not sure about video. But for best security you are better off adding a micro sd card for local storage

      @@WillSurridgeTech I have a xiaomi camera and I can save only the playback video if I remove the SD card from camera I turn on the computer, I put the SD card in the computer and find the video on computer. Usually it's very hard because I have to write the video date time to find it later on computer. I think it would be much better if I select the video on phone and I press a download to phone button. I ordered a Tapo C200 camera I hope I can save the video this way.

    I have the Tapo c-200. The quality is too low. Pay more and get a better camera if you can. I think its good for the money but that doesnt really matter. And theres no desktop version to watch and do the work on a PC. I think that is a big disadvantage. So I will find something that works on PC. Any suggestions?
