In my opinion, there is no one on TH-cam...I repeat NO ONE that is a better teacher of this stuff than Pye. This is great.
You are absolutely right! Amazing content

My wife always teases me how I struggle with my subject and background lighting. Thanks for this😂 bro.
Dear Pye,
This is the first video I discovered from you and it really goes beyond "good and useful content." Your energy, tone of voice, and pace didn't just make this a great video to watch, but they also transported an implicit message of, "Don't worry, you can do this. And you can do this well," where most tutorials still leave a big gap between teacher and student. Thanks so much!
Loved this! Nice to watch, fast enough to not get bored, super nice explanation and super usefull.
I feel like I’ve learned so much!
Love that you went step by step and showed us your ISO and Shutter adjustments on the spot! I wish more creators shared in the way you just did! Cheers!
Amazing explaining, I’m suffering since years to understand how I should light a scene and you made me understand it in just few minutes. Thanks a lot
What a simple yet great demonstration. Thank you for simplifying it and showing how to expose for the accent lights first. I feel like I was going it backwards.
the most delicate light setting i have ever seen , you guys are genius
Man i know this video is from a while back already but im glad i found it - I've seen most every youtube video from reputable channels about choices of light and their positioning etc but no one ive come across has gone through the steps in terms of fine tuning the ambient like this as a starting point for setting the scene; most videos focus only on the subject and/or key lights
what an incredible class! Absolutely loved watching this one. Thank you so much!
Wow... you did an amazing job. Light completely transforms the feel.
I've been watching so many videos on this and trying to find how to do interviews in a small space ... my idea to light it looked exactly as you have here and yet I couldn't find a single video to confirm or deny this ... but here we are! Woo! 🎉
Subscribed. Thank you!
Awesome video! Honestly the best way to explain lights set up. Love it
Another clear, concise and entertaining video from 3.1416. Much appreciation.
Best video I’ve seen on this. I’m about to visually level up my podcast and this was a perfect tutorial! Thank You 🙏🏼
Just had to drop this comment to appreciate your good job. Watched other videos before I got here and I must say, this the best.
you are really strong in explanation and the information passes without any problem. well done and thank you
Wow - this is an excellent lighting tutorial. I'm also in awe of the superb video editing you did to present the information. Thanks for helping noobs like me to advance our skills.
This step by step guide on lighting is awesome.
Mannnnn Pye when I say the algorithm threw me this video just in time🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💯
Thanks Pye. THANK YOU!
Thank you very much brother 💙
Really good tutorial. Learned a lot. Thank you
this was great man...really enjoyed this
Great and easy to follow tutorial using C-A-M-P. In my personal taste, I'd probably set those rim lights to a warmer colour too so that they almost 'motivate' the practical ambient lights in the background.
This is an awesome breakdown
Great video was definitely a big help. Thank you.
Thanks for making this easy
Thanks Pye, it was amazing video!
Imagine allnthis knowledge for free. Thank you so much, you helped.🎉🎉

Great video. Love it
Great video. Learned a lot
Best video on Lightning a podcast I have seen. Thank you! Question: you did all that with windows uncovered with natural light coming in?
Amazing information! Thank you for sharing. But I have a question. How much more work is it to setup lighting against a black wall?
the best video ever
Great video. What kelvin/wb did you have in camera.
Mr. Pye ,,thank you for this amazing video and explanation you are the best❤
Can I ask which camera best to use for vlogging for beginners and can have these filters and ambience too many thanks in advance 🌹
Superb
Thanks, very useful
I'm in the process of creating a similar video for my channel but one that's geared toward working alone, on-site, for clients - trying to create depth with the least amount of gear possible. My process is similar, but starts with the subject and then moves to the background. I figure if you run out of time, you better have the subject lit first! Great stuff here - really helpful. Thanks.
Nice!
Amazing!!! Now I need a studio to put all those lights. My house is too small! Any tips for small spaces?
Very well explained and nice voice😊
Coooooooooooool. Great stuff
Отличный сетап, большое спасибо за видо! 🙌
Thank you.
Super educational video
Awesome

Many many thanks
Wow!This is mi first time watching ur video sir and l hav learnt a lot.Didnt want to leave mi phone watching this✌✌✌🇧🇼
Magical Benin 🇧🇯❤😍
legend
awesome 👌🏻
Awesome Video. I learned alot. Thank You!
Glad it was helpful!
Love this vid! Are there any similar where film cinematographers are doing this for movies??
Great video... being an old portrait shooter, I would sort of lean more towards "Rembrandt" lighting for better modeling. Also... I usually start off with the T/F stop ISO combo that I want to use and then proceed with your four steps. Unfortunately... there are a lot of point and shoot people out there that don't understand the value of good set design and lighting.
thanks bro
I liked the way teach you take your time i wish you bring more with lighting technics sie
Great video
Beautiful! What t-shirt mic, stand-alone mics and wallpaper are you using? Thanks!
Where is the link to the gear on a budget?
thanks
Thxs!
Oh God thank you
Great video and newly subscribed. But i have a small worry. I was told that my shutter speed should be at least double my frame rate. Yet you were shooting at 60fps and set your shutter to 1/60. Would that not introduce funny stuff? Or did you finally change the settings?
💯!!!
See the comment just below mine? Ditto. You rocked this brother. Thank you so much. Following you now. My video production just went up and so will my income $$$$
nice video sir
Is this location available to rent ?
Love it! Working on my set and this was just in time! What mics are you using including the arms?
On set we use the Shure SM7B
This video should get Million of views at a minimum. Nice audio as well. What Mic are you using?
Dude what the heck. I followed your instagram after my breakup and now im out here learning cinematography and i come across this video. I was like… hold up!!! Now hes teaching me lighting? 😂
Not related to video topic but yo! that mic clipped on to you is insane!!
can you please share a link or at least what's its called? (it can be an affiliate so I can support you guys as well)
can you please tell us the kelvin temp from the camera?
❤️
what are those mic stands you're using?
I sense your friend has some work pilling up while you were using him as a mannequin :D
Amazing! Please let me know which microphone you was using to record this video?
We're just using a bluetooth lav for narration, Shure SM7B on set.
Good
In the next episode, how to do this on an affordable budget! Seriously though that would be a helpful episode.
When dialing in your background lights, you set the shutter speed 1/30. I’m probably just a dinosaur, but I always use 2x fps… so 1/50th for 24p or 1/60th for 30p. I see later you do adjust it, but are there situations where you film at 1/30? Does this ‘rule’ no longer apply? Thanks, GREAT video!
I think he set up the camera at the beginning with incorrect settings just to purposefully brighten up the image and get some kind of a "before" shot. Lower shutter speed introduces more light, so later on he probably fixed it.
What are the cheaper options for the Lighting? Or is the link listed the cheaper options?
I couldn’t find the article he mentioned and would love to read it.
Hi Pye. Is it possible for you to add the links the the furniture on the set?
Shoot, I don't have those. Aki (Glen's wife) managed to put it all together with a $1,500 budget, haha.
Hello friend, you brought a truck full of lights.
$$$$$ :D
I really like the step by step of lighting setups, but I really can not stand for shaking his feet in the video🤣. Maybe he did not realized.
Anthony should take his Adderall before recording next time. 😂
You too could have this podcast setup, for $10k grand
First.
Cool
