Last season my son and I put one of these shanties together, it is a amazing fishing shack and light weight. We put it together in about 18 hours from start to finish, we also added a small extension to the back so we can place the fire box further back. The shanty roof had to to be removable do to the garage door was to low to slide the shanty outside in one piece, after getting the shanty outside we screwed the two together and we were set to go.
The shanty is very rigid, the only thing we did different was adding a couple gussets, adding one on either end of the shanty which ties into the peak down to the end walls, they are short enough they do not interfere with head room. One other thing we added is a fold up table which folds up against the wall.
    Thanks for posting the prints.

This s my dream shanty! Thanks Mr. Troy. We have way too much snow this year (2021/2022). I watched this video a few years ago and was happy to see it pop up again.

I gotta say, it's a unique design, starts small at bottom but gives more room up above. I love it mr. Troy. I'll sleep in in it

It is awesome that Mr. Troy put these plans together. My sons and I are going to make a version of this ice shack this coming month and I just wanted to start by saying thank you for the inspiration. As an Engineer by trade, I am probably going to go way overboard on this build but it is going to be awesome because the ground work has already been done. We plan to link this to whatever we finally build to fully pay homage to you and your loyal following.

Nice design, it gives lots of elbow room, but where I live (Northern Ontario) I would be afraid of it blowing over. The winds get pretty strong and many of the smaller shacks get blown miles away, or flip over. Some guys even anchor their shacks by freezing tie-downs into the ice. 😀

We anchor them the same way….. tie downs in the ice. Thanks for watching.

valleyfarm it’s solid. I’ve put a shoulder against the wall and pushed it around on the ice.
