I think I commented on this last year. Your Shanty inspired me! Started mine last year got Covid was down for two months and now with winter approaching decided I’d finish it. It’s definitely the best design out there.
I had yet to see a gas bottle woodstove that I liked or was impressed with, and yours is both lovely and particularly impressive! The twin ash pipes, cover and spanner handle are really neat touches nicely done, and the rocks and rock baskets both look good and work well for heat retention. If that weren't enough, its a neat installation into a very cleverly made ice shanty! Thank you for sharing your stove and ice shanty.

Tried to find for a week now which ice shanty I am gonna build for 2 or 3 persons. I found it right here. Tks a lot for sharing this video.. As I am not a very good carpenter, will have to find one to give me a hand :) will try to make it not too heavy. This design is exactly what I need.

A damper in the vent pipe so you can shut it down a bit will make the wood burn slower and keep more heat in. You close it just enough to keep the smoke out...

Thought your ice house looked great and very efficient I have an old ice house actually being heated with old propane tank as well but it's time to recycle her and build a new one I'm sure I could figure out the plans and make it my own but, you wouldn't wanna share the plans if you had them still by chance just for reference. Love the flip down seat! Nice work on the door. Did you use a plasma cutter to cut that? Ha 94, that will take the chill out of the bones. Love it. Nice work!
Thanks, I did use a plasma cutter. One of the best pieces of welding/burning equipment I've bought. Only thing I wish is that it was able to cut thru some thicker steel. Right now this one will cut up to 1/4".... but its portable. Its a Miller, I dont remember the size... I'll get back with you on that later.
@5yearplan269 I am a Chef, I use all different fuels for cooking and Charcoal is the hottest for sure. Lump charcoal is great. If your stove will handle the heat it will put out alot more and for about 2 times as long in my experience. You don't want to fill it up though.
Thanks, Yes I pull it with a snowmobile. Last year I used a 1990 Skidoo Safari that was only hitting on one cylinder and was able to pull it off the ice.... so I guess it is easy to move! It has one hole inside, but you could rearrange it a bit and probably get a couple more. Thanks for watching. Hope this helped.
I like the wood stove I can imagine the conversation that went on when you were building the clean-out your friend was probably like are we going to make that square you're like no we're going to make it shaped like a nut sack

Very cool shanty and love that little wood heater. What type of rocks did you use to collect heat...need an idea here for warming pipes in basement during a prolonged power outage and we can't seem to figure a way to get a wood stove idea going in the basement....it wood work but the flue would have to run up the side of a two floor small house with elevated roof :( Not smart or innovative enough for this project :( All ears if you have any ideas...going with a HQ issue tent stove. That said, thinking of firing it up outside and wrapping hot rocks around problem areas...if that even makes sense.
Thanks for the compliment, glad you liked it. The rocks are actual sauna rocks that we had left over from our sauna build. You might try a "Mr. Heater" portable propane heater for your basement. They are small and throw some good heat. You can get an adapter to hook it up to larger bottles. Thanks for watching.

Yes I pull it with a snowmobile... tows nice on packed trail.. on the lake... where I live the trails are way to narrow. Only room for two sleds to pass. When I go remote I just bring the tow behind pop up. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. We fish mainly using tip-ups or as some people call them traps. I'm the only one in the family who occasionally uses the jigging poles... therefore only one hole.
welding instructer made me scared to cut into any gas tank/ barrel. how did you cut into the propane tank safely. teacher made it sound like ill get blown up lol

I have a tms wood stove. I would have made a propane tank one, but I don't have a welder and I have asthma so I needed to make shure that my stove is vary sealed. the stove pipe that comes with is is 2 3/4 so I'm having trouble finding and elbow for it. any advice would be nice.

Plasma cutter is a Spectrum 375 X-treme made by miller.
Would charcoal be a solution for short burn times with the wood?

I'm thinking something similar on a 4' *8' trailer.
Do you have them ropes on the one side of the shack for stability?

If you ever cut a tank, fill it completely with water first to displace any gas vapor that could be left inside. Dump out water and cut away
