Very nice shack Randy.. I've been looking into building one for myself and your video popped up this morning.. I really like the size and simplicity.. Thank You for taking the time to show it and best wishes to you and your family.. Cheers from Houghton Lake, Michigan..👍
Nice shanty. We have a lake house complete with dock and boat but we rarely go fishing. Just too busy. Winter is the best time for us but I hate the cold. Hopefully next year we'll have a nice warm shanty. Thanks for the tour of your ice house. I think that would work well for us.
Thanks! Some of my fishing buddies built their shacks a few years before I did and I fished out of them all. I took some of the ideas that worked from theirs and tried to improve on the things I didn’t care for. I had a while to think about what I wanted before I started building.
Are blocks under runners just to keep it from freezing to ice? Planning on building one, wife and I both really like your layout. Thank you for sharing
Thanks! I did a lot of research and fished out of my some of my buddies shacks to get ideas and improve on things I didn’t like about theirs. I still want to bend the tin down on the roof so I don’t have snow blowing in and don’t have to worry about the wind tearing it off when I haul it down the highway.
Walls are actually 2x3 (approximately) I custom cut them from 2x4 because I got those for free. Skids are two 2x6 nailed together. I also put UHMW that I got from work under the skids.
How much does it weigh do you think ? I’m thinking of making a small 2 person shack that I pull out and around every time as I hate seeding up. I want to get off my atv go it the hut drill a hole and fish.
I’m not really sure how much it weighs. It’s really easy to move. Two people can push it around as long as there’s not a ton of snow. I do have UHMW on the skids and that makes it much easier to move. I just have to anchor it down to make sure the wind doesn’t blow it away. Lol. Your atv would have no problem pulling it around.

Great shack! Super efficient. very well thought out.

Funny. I’m fishing out of mine right now. Only one walleye so far this afternoon but prime time should be any minute now……
Very nice set up. Like how you offset the two sets of holes. Looks like the buckets help keep the floor ice free and the cold out. Very nice!
A lot of what you need to fish and not what you don’t need. Good job
Stumbled upon your channel from My Day Off. Love your shack looks awesome!
Thanks! I didn’t get it on the ice last year. Heading up to set it up tomorrow morning. Getting pretty excited for that.
Awesome ice shack, lots of great ideas and organized well. Thanks for sharing and good luck fishing 🐟

@@randyhermann1 Well you did great! Looks like clearing out to move off ice would quite easily… great!
Love the 5 gallon pail hack!
Do you have a plan to share? Love it and would like to copy it, best I've seen. Thanks for the tour.
No plans. I just built as I went.

That’s exactly what they are for.
That looks like a comfortable set up, thanks for the inspection
Awesome plenty of room and great layout

Hey Randy!
Are the walls framed with 2x2? Also what size are the skids on the bottom?

Nice little set up. 👍🏼
Nice shack we made one out of a bunk off of a Kenworth about 20 years ago and we had a small wood stove in it worked great but heavy as hell
awesome little set up!
nice job very clean and tidey happy fishing
Man that looks super fun! Now that's the way to ice fish!!!
Such a sweet setup
Nice job on your Hut
That is the nicest one I’ve seen.
I built one same size, I have slider up high for temp control and windows down low to see outside
Nice house. You need to check out a LED light strip for lighting. They use very little power and brighten the house up in the night.
Actually installed some since I made the video. 👍🏻
Cool lil shack

👍
What size is the shack total?
6x8’ outside measurements. Walls are 2x3”. I believe the skids are 10’ long. Ceiling is 6’3” and roof is approximately 7’ high.
What size wood did you use for the framing?
1.5 x 3. I cut down 2x4’s to cut weight. Took some extra time but I work at a sawmill and the 2x4’s were free. If I had to buy I’d buy 2x3’s.
@@randyhermann1 thank you!
4x8 ft???
I’ve lost access to my channel but that is my shanty. It’s actually 6’x8’.
Ontario?
Alberta, actually.
