    Was looking at smallrig but I'm sold. Already have some f38 stuff so this is a no brainer

    Don’t lose the screw in the bottom of the cage. Falcam/Ulanzi does not sell them separately and it’s a real challenge to find a replacement.

    Hi, thanks for detailed review....I know the video is pretty old, but can you please tell me how it performed in extensive use. I really like this cage, but only thing that I concerned with it only has one point of contact at the bottom. If only it had second one, I'd buy it right away. But I can't decide between this and smallrig. So please give me feedback about how sturdy it sits in its place?

      I hear your concern, but in my case it is not an issue. It mounts very securely and does not seam to need another mount point. Smallrig cages are also very nice, but the quick release f22 and f38 is awesome if you need to rig out and unrig really quick. I also like how the cage will just snap right into my treeroot tripod ballhead as well...

      @Jason_Hermann Thank you for the reply. Yes smallrig is tried and tested, and I previously had couple of their cages. And I liked them. But with a6700 I dont like some decisions they made. So I guess I should give it a try. Never had falcam products before. But this cage gives me everything even without considering using other falcam accessories.

    Thanks a lot for this great video, Jay for this great video. Do you know if the handle comes with the right and the left hand with the kit from Ulanzi?

    • @Jason_Hermann

      I think each handle comes separate as often times people only want one.

    I just saw a short where only used the base cage (the one that only has the bottom part) and added a horizontal/vertical ring attached on the two small screw holes that are just down the lense position. Do you know this accessory? What model is it? Do you know if that works with this full cage? Thanks for such a good video, regards from Chile

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can, this has mount holes on the bottom so you can screw any kind of plat you want to the bottom.

    I bought the smallrig cage but thinking of returning it for the Falcam. Which one do you prefer?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Falcam quick release is way better in my opinion if you want to quickly build up and breakdown the system. Otherwise both systems offer a ton of options/ configurations and you can combine parts as well using the 1/4 20 mount points if you want as well. I like the way the Falcam cage looks a bit better as well, but that is personal preference...

      @@Jason_Hermann thanks for the reply. I have returned the smallrig and my Falcam system has shipped. Just got my 6700 and your tutorials have helped so much. Thank you for the great videos.

    i dont do video so this is a photopgraphy question. I have a promediagear flash bracket. Would it make any sense make the switch to attach a flash to a magic arm f22. I would have to buy the cage since thats what falcam has with canon. the benefit would be that most of the time you can go easily between portrait and landscape mode on a tripod and i just have to carry around a magic arm for events... although I have never seen anyone use magic arm for flash vs a L bracket. the youtubers seem to all use this setup for video so is it just weird or impractical?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No it's not weird or impractical at all in my opinion. These cages and in particular the Falcam quick release system is so versatile you can literally use it for whatever makes sense in your use case. I used to use one of these Custom Brackets Units: geni.us/dhD1 when I was shooting weddings back in the day, and it was really awesome, but it was so heavy all together! There are lots of solutions out there and the quick release has opened up some doors...

      @@Jason_Hermann yeah i have the boomrang bracket from ProMediaGear.. i bought the falcam just to see.. it doesnt do the swing action but it is smaller..one thing im not sure about is the cage bc there is some gaps/space on the top portion of the camera..i usualy dont even carry flash, mostly travel photography i wonder if the cage is more bulk than I would like.

    • @drexplordinaire
      @drexplordinaire 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Jason_Hermann It doesnt work! the flash cord sitting in the hotshoe protrudes forward and half blocks the f22 from sliding in. its like 80% on.. radio transmitter would have the same problem.

      @@drexplordinaire oh man that sucks, I'm sorry to hear that.... The flash itself fits though right?

    Hello Jason !! Can you tell me if the 2 buttons on top (c2 & record button) are easily accessible with the cage istalled ? From the video it seems to be a little difficult to press them...
    I am torn between this cage and the Smallrig's, because it seems to me that the access to these buttons seems to be easier with the Smallrig cage...

    • @Jason_Hermann

      Yeah, I'm hoping for a A7000 series with a way more dslr style grip in the future.... The smaller camera does help for using on a gimbal though, and smaller, lighter weight, so it has it's advantages depending on what you are doing.
