Awesome review, so glad you are enjoying the performance! (Decks are "alive" (lol, maybe) made out of different woods and stuff which can very slightly alter the way the shape is between decks) but they should be the same mold and fit into each other pretty tightly.
I have noticed this recently as well as I currently own 6 different G16's (About to be 8 this week got 2 more coming cause I love the shape so much lol), and 3/6 are the perfect high kick shape that I assume the G16 is intended to be, but the others the kicks are slightly shorter and don't perform nearly as well for me.
Mike thanks so much for watching!! And for clearing that up- Your right the 2 decks do fit together like a glove. Thanks so much for the awesome customer service and products, I’ve been loving my g16. It’s so hard to put down! 🙌
@@ElementBouncer I just copy it cuz fits just perfectly here too… What you describe are pretty normal production differences which can happen… The main „issue“ is the simple fact that we talk about wood and wood is a never stop working material and no deck will be exactly the same like the other cuz of this simple fact… The most differences you have in the high of the kicks and the thickness of the board, when you buy ply wood you get always 0.4 - 0.7mm thick sheets and when they get colored then this differences can become even bigger… The next thing are the kicks, when you put out the board out of the mold it will never be completely dry so it will still dry when it’s already out of the mold and cuz you have multiple ply’s with slightly different thicknesses every ply could dry in a different speed what ends in slightly deformations of the boards… So sometimes the kicks goes a bit deeper again, sometimes the board gets a wobble, sometimes the board gets a bit longer, sometimes a bit shorter, sometimes the boards twists a little bit and so on and you just can’t control this completely however you will try… So I think that’s what happen here too, no different molds or prototype stuff, just two boards with different ply’s out of exactly the same mold just with different woodplys, that’s just it…
it's 7 plys, the combo is blue > black > premium > white > premium > black > blue. the black ply is extremely thin and so are the premium and white plys too which is why that board is thinner than the other. and non real wear graphic boards from FF are typically thicker than a normal board because of the coat above the graphic
I had the same experience as you; tre-flips needed some adjusting but after a few weeks feel fine now. I learnt most of my tricks many years ago on G13s and G14s, but for some reason felt that the G15 was too awkward for my hand size and difficult to flip as much as I tried to love them. Coming to the G16 is an absolute joy because it took away what G15 made difficult for me. It also reminded me of one of my early Blosom decks from way back in the day which is one of my favourite boards ever, except with higher kicks. I really hope more companies out there can consider making low concave high kick decks because I'd love to collect more of them.
i love my g15. il prob snag a 16 on the next drop. but i always come back to the 15. i have a bunch of different decks from a lot of companies and the 15 just feels so good.

Ive tried mellow decks and they just make everything harder, my g15 had me doing tricks easier and saving my fingers so i ordered a g16 a few days ago because i just wanna do sick tricks and have fun, not all this trying so hard to be realistic and fake steez, mikes the goat, THE GOAT!😂
has a lot to do with the trucks imo.. i love mellow decks but only with BRTs, UAGs, etc.,. for lower trucks like Dynamics, OBFB, etc., you need higher kicks.
Beginner fingerboarder here and im enjoying the G16 more than my other boards. Otherbthan how much it pops theb iggest thing i notice is thevheavier weight compared to most fingerboards. Still unsure if its a good or bad thing yet
I noticed that as well. I have Dynamics 26mm which is a pretty thick 5 ply to the 29mm Dynamics I have but the 5 play Margaret River and Blackriver I have makes the G15s I got seem paper thin.
Every one of them is different because they’ll consist of different plies. It even says so on the description. They’ll probably also have multiple molds that are varying to some degree. Different cuts, sanding, rounding of edges etc. unless the boards were machine CNC cut, there will always be variations in every one of them. In some ways it’s bothering because if something wasn’t cut or rounded well, it’ll perform somewhat differently as well. I feel my ocd kicking in since you’ve found a difference between the two.
Catfishbbq freshwater mold with black river trucks and old school cartwheels with black velvet tape and level up bushing. That or a beast pants rabid mold.
the g16 i tried at an event was super solid and almost heavy? skated it for maybe a minute and the kicks are insane! barely needed to flick it felt. Something i would need to get used to for sure!
Dude the G16 hasbeen in mike's hand since 14". He kept it to himself. Johnny Goo gifted the best custom to order product on the market period. High Or Die for life.
I got a goo high or die. Enjoying it. Just picked up the Goo High or Die and Blackriver 7 ply. Enjoying. I went nuts though. Got a Dynamics 26mm which I'm having a blast with too. Finally glad I got a Goo. I read stories online the G16 was created by someone else. Who knows. I did grab a G16 Blem but no wheels or trucks yet. Enjoyed the G15
Goo is one of the few companies I have ordered from that actually takes their business seriously. Last time I ordered a custom made to order deck he got it to me in 6 days. Quality control and customer service is top notch.
Unhappy with most of my recent flat face purchases. I just got the G16 hand dyed one that he did and the deck I got looks nothing like all the photos on the site and his instagram. The whole bottom isn't even dyed and it's got a black mark on the wood. Looks like a blem. My G16 regular came in white and the bottom has black leaking from the holes. My G15 came chipped like. Very sad to see the quality drop. I think unless Mike hand makes them himself again and films himself doing so I'm done. I do think they are good decks. I liked the Goo LTD but in the end the Goo is small like 95mm. I like a bit longer. I'll keep using the old FF deck I got

Mike, how can the future boards be built more consistent in terms of one having lower kicks than usual as per this video and another commenter?
main differences from g15:
higher kicks
shorter overall length
slightly less concave
same wheelbase
And if anyone is curious, I just measured both and my g15.12 is 98mm long and my G16 is 96.5 mm. Oh and both have a 58mm wheelbase.

the g16 is just magic!
The g16 is such a contradiction to everything I’ve learned about making decks! It’s definitely interesting. 🧐

I am in the same boat!
great work man! Loved your perspective on the deck
I’ve had a g16 for about a month now and like you said it seems magical. My fingerboarding has improved with better tricks and more control

Facts!! the high or die and the G16 are both my daily’s. BRT’s/G16/piros….. Dynamic/Highordie/illpills

Awesome review! Im curious to try this out!
You should try the 8 ply civil made rage mold. I love it.
can you review the 36mm blackriver decks?
it looks like the black plies on the blank deck are zebrawood which would explain the white parts
I didn't think of that, you are probably right!!
Can you please do a tutorial on how to do a 180? I can't keep control of the board
Which direction of 180 trying? Front or back side?
@@nevenshadoenew503 Either. The board doesn't rotate with my hand it just flies away on its own accord
3:35 just put the board on top of each other to make sure that they have the same shape or not.
Confirmed they are the same shape
I’ve had the G15 for quite some time too i’ll have to check out the new G16
Dude, this is so weird that I ended up setting my ff fingerboard last night after a long hiatus, dynamic trucks, and flat face white dual durometers
How does that wheels feel? I’m between those and the G8s
@@GabriGlider Dual duros are softer, G8s are harder. Both great wheels, it's just a matter of aesthetic and preference.
Dual durometers are great, but I accidentally stepped on the flatface board and snapped the nose so now I'm using a different set up atm
do you think 34mm or 32mm trucks would be better on the g16?
Mike Schneider recommends 32mm. Anxiety Offline mains 32 trucks on all his decks mostly as well
@@brosettastone7520 i just bought 34mm trucks for a 33.6 g16 will it be that much of a difference?
Is the boards or Canada one discontinued???
Man it seems like a lot of people have been having issues with FF lately unfortunately:/
Naw that board you got...they should have sent you a brand new one, not the $15.
do you ride 33mm?
Boards of Canada fingerboard?!?!?!?
Is that the music has the right to children cover?
Yes it is!
You can still get drum sticks and pointillize with colors a wall, ain't it?! I'm not buying a Monèt. Pedal to the Metal. Namastè.
Super perfundo on the early eve of your day!
It’s cheaterboarding
