We take a ride to Southern Humboldt County to visit Benbow, California. Brody and I walk the Eel River, check out the Benbow Bridge built in 1931 and the Historic Benbow Inn before heading over to the Benbow State Recreation Area Campground on Fish Crossing Ln.
    Information from their website benbowinn.com/:
"The Benbow Historic Inn, a Garberville resort in the redwoods, was designed by architect Albert Farr, who was most noted for The Wolf House-the home he designed for author Jack London in Glen Ellen, CA. Farr was commissioned by the Benbow family to create the cornerstone for the resort community they intended to build in their 1,290 acre valley.
    The Benbow Family
The “Hotel Benbow” (as it was originally called) opened to the public in July of 1926. Built by the Benbow family-nine talented brothers and sisters who also constructed the Benbow Dam, Power Company, and later, the Golf Course and RV Park. The hotel became a popular destination for motoring tourists traveling up the newly-completed Redwood Highway."

Starting to get better at it... kinda... it was acting weird at the river, I think it was the power lines messing with it... :)

I was in Humboldt 10 years ago and have seen a lot of the places you've shown in the video. Loved the river and so did my dog! We camped in a couple places, but also stayed at Benbow Inn. No clue how much it cost. I've forgotten after all this time. We went behind the Inn and down the stairs and my dog got to wander under that bridge you showed. I came across your video and love it! Thank you for sharing. Brought back memories for sure.

They used to have 4th of July fireworks on Benbow Lake.
Your drone work is cool & the scenery is beautiful, but it seems like you use a filter on the camera, which makes the colors often look artificial. It's gorgeous without any enhancement.

Used to be Benbow lake. They took out the dam to save the fish, but I think it was more due to the ring worm and very poor water quality by end of summer.

You know your history... :) Benbow Dam Rd, on the north side of the historic bridge, is gated off these days. You can see it in the drone footage... I'd love to have the opportunity to drive out there some day... :) thank you for watching... Dock
