- Here is how to replace a wheel bearing on a 2006 Saturn Vue. This technique can be used on most vehicles though.

I just did this job on my 05 Vue 2.2 liter 5 speed manual, at 277,000 miles. Thanks for having this video available, watched it several months ago, finally got the job done. Odd enough, replaced the left front first, removal was relatively easy, new one installed, then drove it, bad sound remained. Right front, two days later, much harder to remove, blaster added as well. Axle nut finally loosened, used a 3/4 in drive, 36 in. breaker bar with 34mm socket. Most difficult was getting the old hub to separate from the axle, multiple sprayings and hammer and chisel to break the seized parts. Alas, didn’t have the air tools. All bad grinding sounds gone, back to the quiet ride once more. Thanks again, Sir!

Hey CJ Thanks for posting this! My front driver side WB just started humming as well and looking a little further into replacing this thing as I live up north with snow and subsequent salt they throw all over the place I am anticipating having a fight on my hands trying to get that assembly out. One thing of concern though is that it is very important to properly tighten the axle nut to a specific torque as failure to do so will result in pre-mature failure of the wheel bearing you just installed. For the Saturn Vue's from 2002 - 2009 the required torque on the axle nut is 151 ft-lbs. It also recommends that you do not use an impact wrench to tighten the nut back on because you will either most likely tighten too much or too little and either one will cause early failure of the wheel bearings. Instead, reinstall by hand and tighten to the appropriate torque value with a qualified and calibrated torque wrench instead. You can find all that info in the SKF Torque Specs 2014 guide herecaissiedrive.net/abw/SKF_Torque_Specs2014.pdf This is from the PDF - "It is important that you properly torque the spindle nut to ensure optimum bearing life. Under torque of an axle nut will allow excessive movement causing uneven loading and excessive wear. Over torque of the axle nut will cause excessive load and cause the bearing to overheat, this is one of the most common causes for failures." So you may want to have that axle nut checked for the proper torque to ensure you don't have a pre-mature failure on your new bearing. Thanks again, really appreciate it! BTW I did subscribe to your channel. Good Luck with it!
Many thanks for sharing. Have to do this on my 2005 Vue, 2.2l 5 speed manual. At 272,000, these original wheel hub assemblies were done. No mechanic here either. Many thanks, Sir!
Update
It’s been a smooth and beautiful ride for several thousand miles. Now at 284,000, and enjoying the ride. New clutch and slave cylinder made it even better.
I had to use a sledgehammer to get the passenger side wheel bearing off,you made it look so easy!!!
He lives in a state where he doesn't have to deal with snow and salt on the roads, which cause rust and scale buildup on car parts, so some repairs will be easier for him.
@@ricaard salt water spray is just as bad. I don't believe his came out without a fight. Sorry. I call bs. 😆
2 years later still helping a fellow DYI'er out! Thanks! I have a big Rigid Impact gun and it took me about 30 minutes once all my tools were laid out. So damn simple I felt like I missed something...wheel still on car to date...:)
P.S. Earlier comment is correct 33mm socket...fit like a glove. Luckly, I read the comments.
Great video!
Thanks a lot my good man. I recently bought a redline body kit and redline leather/suede interior 2006 Saturn Vue . It is my 3rd Vue I've owned although now it's the last Vue standing atleast with me. Sold the 2005 4 cylinder and scrapped a 2003 blown 3.0 engine with all wheel drive leaving this amazing True Sleeper to drive. I was about to dish out $285 to a mechanic today who said because it's ABS and its the front barring it will be a 2 hour job at $85/hr which is not a complete guaging compared to his criminal competitors and $120 for the barring with a year warranty.
I should start making videos as I do repairs and begin the transformation from Sleeper Saturn into M5 & C63 AMG Destroyer.
Upgrading to larger heads , larger intake manifold , seriously tuning the ECU for a huge gain , cutting off the entire existing exhaust system and replacing it with a full stainless steel 3 inch pipe with only one speed bump ( restrictor opposed to the current 4 holding back the true potential then finishing it with a 3 inch tip Flowmaster Performance Exhaust on the higher end of aggressiveness sounding. Likely a Brembo performance braking system to accommodate the massive amount of torque and Hp ..
Lastly but not least , the cherry on top which will make it likely one of the rarest saturn Vues around by adding a powerhouse Twin turbo .
The exterior will only have a K&N sticker on the rear window and some decent black 18 inch rims 8 inches in width allowing for serious cornering.
Seriously though thanks so much for posting the exact video I needed to find on here and the very first one i chose to watch .
HalleluYAH
Regards and enjoy your day today. You'll be blessed for helping me with this super easy and quick come to find out repair .
Aaron
How do you plan on tuning the Chevy Colbalt ECU I have a 2004awd that should be quicker off the line than yours because it doesnt have the softer RDM tuning in first gear they got after 2004
If I stop my gas pedal the awd immediately engages and sends me flying ✌
That was nice and neat Bro. Your Vue is nice. My niece needs a wheel bearing but I AINT touching it.Only time I mess with a rim is when the tire needs changing!!!!!
I watched this a year ago & did the passenger side & now its rime for driver side .
Took me 30 minutes last time...$37 bucks on Amazon.
Thanks x2! 😊
So 3 secs of uggga dugga on the impact gun, got it!
I have a 2007 red Vue that looks just like yours with 89,000 miles on it and my left front wheel bearing just went bad. I dropped it off at a mechanic’s to have done. I thought I would see if there were any videos on TH-cam while I was waiting to have it done. $488 later it was, but I wish I would have seen your video first. They did replace 2 stabilizer sway bar links which they said were bad also though and was included in that price. Nice job on your video! 👍
I feel your pain. Glad yours is fixed either way.
Thanks for posting this...exactly what I needed.
CJ nice job. I've had to replace 6 yes 6 WB 2 on side 1, 4 on side 2 I wish I knew why. It's been 2 years since the last one was changed. And now it's time to replace another one. I live in Ct maybe that's why. I want to move back to
Jacksonville, Florida Thanks for the great video
There is a difference between Chinese duralast and the higher priced Moog units. You get what you pay for.
Nice video. Very well addressed. You must watch South Main Auto on you tube, "if I can do it you can do it" is Eric's favorite close out saying. I can't do what he does because he has the equipment and he does mostly electrical and electronics which requires code readers with subscriptions to the manufactures in order to pull up the schematics which cost $$ to buy and keep up the subscriptions. 😁
Thanks for the video....im doing this this weekend!
Thanks a lot man for these videos, i have Pontiact Torrent 2006 which is same as your Vue ( technically ) ..... i must say yours is pretty clean for a 2006 .... my is all rusty cz we're up here in Toronto.
very helpful soon will be changing mine
Thanks for video great I got do same on my Saturn vue this help out alot thanks.
What is the spacer ring you have ? The one behind the assembly. The factory one got destroyed when replacing and I'm looking for a new one but have no idea what to look up.
Nice job. Thanks!
Awesome bro 🙏 👏 very helpful!! Bro bit why’d you get all distracted and jittery when you’re homeboy showed up?!? Lmao!! 😝 nah I do the same some days lmao great video!! Thanks for posting 🤘
Lol idk I’m just awkward around people.
Not looking forward to replacing mine. The vue came from Utah 🤬. Thanks for making it look easy.
Great work on this video!
I believe mine are going out on my car. Hard to tell due to the tires I have on. They make a little noise on the road. I'm glad they ain't press fit bearings. How many miles does your vue have on it? I'm a little over 281k on mine
Sweet video. Seldom does anyone ever show the parts list.
*where's the two thumbs up button?*
Thank you for that video.
Here I was hoping to see what the proper torque spec on the axle nut was.....
use a coat hanger to hold up the brake caliper or any wire also use anti seize on the threads
How many miles are on the odometer when you did the wheel bearing?
Can you show how to put the stabilizer bar back in a 2007 Saturn Vue on video I sure would appreciate it no other vehicle only to 2007 Saturn Vue all-wheel drive
You didn't torque your hub bearing
Awesome job!
I got a clicking type noise. I dont know what it is.
You failed to show how you managed to pull the old hub assembly. The only way it came out without a fight was if it had been replaced fairly recently. Those hubs seize inside the aluminum knuckle pretty quick.
would be nice to use some threadlocker blue to caliper bolts, great video, and us up North are not as lucky as you southerners,Ive seen my buddy beat and beat on the center of the wheel bearing to aid in removal...
Thanks brothers.
Thanks to your video I felt confident to try this myself! I feel somewhere it should be mentioned that removing the old bearing from the axle is the most difficult part of this process. While this video glosses over this step, it took me hours and a few other video searches before I finally got the old bearing off. I would highly recommend checking this video before taking the leap. th-cam.com/video/JKcgXmX8oBo/w-d-xo.html If you're like me, and don't have a perfectly flawless 16 year old Vue (or live in a place with winter) you'll probably be looking at way more work than you see here. All this being said, many MANY kudos for posting this video.
Tonka tough. Hopefully its original.
I took out the whole rotor along with the brake caliper on more simple
I got 2 wheel bearings and all tie rod ends for both sides for the same price he paid for just 1
Bungee chords hold your caliper to your spring. Then you don’t have to have toys in your way
Wow didnt show how to get dearing out
No wheel chocks or jack stands. Gross
