Early 70’s is way too young. I’m 77 already and hope for more time, but that is up to a higher level than me. You got some nice items., Alex. Have a great auction. Always so nice seeing you.❤️👍
I would strongly suggest you obtain a copy of the Charlton catalogue for stamps before using any of the mint sets for postage. Some of those year sets contain some collectible items. If you're not familiar with Vance Auctions, they may be willing to assist you in disposing of the stamps. But age of a stamp does not equate the collector value. There are stamps from the mid 1800s which do not have much collector value, and, there are modern issues which are quite valuable.
I already watched this and I hit a button and it went away. I enjoyed you unboxing all of your random stuff. I always enjoy your videos no matter what they are. You got a lot of steps. Collection and different variety of things.😊❤
No WONDER I can't find jack at yard sales lately; Alex snagged it all! 09:05 I have that plastic stamp box. A Canadian friend gave one to my dad when it was new. Probably worth nothing, but it's cool to see one.
Flutist player here. I’ve bought and looked at many over the years and it seems like that one is ready to play but it is hard to tell over video but the main thing to look at is if the keys move as they should and if the pads under the keys still look good. If it needs work and isn’t ready to use then it probably only would go for 50-75 but from what I see I would guess you realistically could get 100-200. Jupiter brand isn’t special and it is a basic model with no fancy upgrades that could have got you more. Hope this helps
Ah the Spartus Press Flash! I had a few - never worth much and not very good cameras. They used 'press flash' bulbs the same size as a press camera (i.e. huge; about the same size as a standard light bulb).
Flutist vs. Flautist / Template (Temp-lit) vs Template (Temp-late). The former pronunciation is American English and the latter is British English. You're good to go with either one, of course, but considering the TH-cam worldwide audience, people who don't know the difference are bound to correct you no matter what you say.
2:40 That weird metal strap style knob base is pretty standard for that period. Have one with a slag glass knob on it, though sadly both of my cars' steering wheels are a bit too chunky for that base. They're also called spinner knobs, steering wheel spinners or any number of other things from a list a mile long. Anything counterculture has touched gets a list of names longer than the day as it's a way of expressing one's self uniquely.
That brand starts around $30 U.S. dollars and more advanced student models ,if silver plated, could bring hundreds. That one was more toward the low end... too bad:(
Hello Alex, great hall, that steering wheel is the same style as my 1952 Land Rover Series 1, would be worth doing a little research as it appears to be in very good original condition, it would sell on eBay Australia easily in the $300-$500 Aust range, would be similar in Canada I believe, good luck and thanks for the content that you put out, I have been a fan of your adventures for years
Alexander, they died in their early seventies??? I am in my early eighties and, so far, OK What are you, around 45 ish? That's not ominous your looking toward the future, I'm not so sure: about mine:) Finally I see you sorting in the new building! I had many first day cover albums and the only somewhat valuable ones were , the ones with expensive stamps .My Mom saved sheets and sheets of stamps for me whole mint sheets and blocks of four and more. Now they would only be good for mailing letters ,but that is almost a lost thing. I hope you get something for them. Cheers, Rik Spector
This video has reminded me of visiting Canada in 1997 with a group of Guides from the UK. We were travelling around Ontario on a yellow school bus and discovered that the Post Offices had Winnie the Pooh stamps and items such as sweatshirts and pin badges with the stamps on them. We accidentally turned into local celebrities as we drove to about 5 small towns to buy enough pins for the whole group.
I have that exact ashtray with the man and woman ..my Dad worked for Alcoa Aluminum (USA) and these were given as prizes at a company party in 1943. Not sure if they were made by Alcoa but i guess anything is possible.
I think its 'flautist' youre looking for. Oh and i have a small suitcase like yours but mine is fitted out with a tiny china baby in its layette set. Its old and collectible. Nice haul😊
Would love to see you do some knolling when you go through your finds. Line everything up neatly on a table or two when you take it out of the boxes and bins and then go through it all at the end so we can see it all better. Would ease a lot of our OCD tension from when you partially open things and stuff them back and don’t show everything.
Great idea! I love knolling...and have OCD tendencies. (I'm not down playing this debilitating disorder, but I think it's fair to say one can have OCD tendencies without meeting a diagnosis.)
It seems a little sad to me that the people who owned the stuff you go through are no longer around, but on the other hand, they might be pleased that someone else gets to enjoy their items? After all, they can't take it with them
Canada Post is not doing very well. Too much competition. Who knows what's going to happen with them. Maybe stamps will be worth a lot of money again in the not too distant future
@@CuriosityIncorporated oh I'm definitely subscribed with the 🔔 on. Its the algorithm not recommending your latest uploads. YT needs to do better for Good channels like yours.
I don't have to watch commercials because I have TH-cam premium, but your beef isn't with the creators of the videos you watch. TH-cam knows what people are doing on the Internet, and the commercials are tailored to the interests of the people watching the video. If you are reading about politics or watching political videos on the Internet, then you will likely get political commercials. TH-cam Premium is a good investment. You don't get any commercials, and the TH-cam creators get paid.

Cool stuff . I have to say I've never seen the ET finger before.

Also, the early worm gets eaten...
Good find with all of this

The flute could get you halfway back to making your investment. And if you can't sell the stamps, there's a couple hundred in postage there.

Alex was born in Dec. 1978, so you're correct that he's 45. It sticks in my mind because I was born one year earlier, in Dec. 1977.
Want the ashtray!
Go ahead and use the ET back scratcher on Melissa but be sure to film it for us!
Eclectic selection.
Some flutes can be sterling silver.
His using the guest house/sorting facility. Now the people that always complain when he sorts a small lot in the garage can be satisfied.

"Flautist" for the British, "flutist" for the Americans.
Great haul Alex!!! 👌

I want the stamps!!!
I've collected mostly Dale Earnhardt Jr and Sr products for Nascar. When I first saw that Beetle I thought it was a model of Herbie lol
Wasn’t the Zapruder film shot with that model bell and Howell ?
Recently got £60 for a sealed Britney spears doll I got as a joke gift at work decades ago because I got a little too enthusiastic at karaoke.
Fun lil pick

Elvis speaker on e bay 50.00😊
Suicide knob on steering wheel, apparently long sleeve shirts or jewelry could get tangled.
Dust cloud made me sneeze and I'm in NC lol
The knob on the steering wheel is called a Necker knob., so you can have one arm around your girlfriend, and the other one to steer the wheel.

It’s going up for auction Aug 5 :)
Alex, how long did you and your wife own a toy store for?

about 1000 for the flute
