      @@csabasiska7928 Hi, I fish from both. More recently the kayak so that’s still a new-ish world for me. The fish have been super on/off lately and not sure if it’s the salinity, tides, all this weird weather or what, it’s been hit or miss most of the time. I’ve had killer days out by HRBT, CCBT, and the oceanfront for Spanish, Bluefish, Cobia, Big schools of drum and flounder using swimming jigs and gotcha plugs. Big flashy bucktails have been great for me too. What are you targeting?

    • @csabasiska7928
      @csabasiska7928 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hunterbott5633 Right now I am targeting sheepshead at Lesner bridge and also at CBBT. Also try to catch flounder and drum at Lynnhaven if the sheepshead not cooperate lol. However, as you said, it is hit or miss. Unfortunately I don't have that much time as I wanna go out with work and family and of course when I do make time for it the weather not so cooperative... but I don't wanna complain. Better be on the water in any day than working tho

    Patience my dear boy....I fought over 30 minutes catching my first permit in Florida (near Islamorada). About the same size on fairly light tackle. Still got a picture with the rod almost bent double....awesome.
    She went full force all the way until she finally just gave up. Luckely she was already packed in aluminum foil :D
    Beatiful fish...happy you got to cross that of the list.

    You've got the boat that can take you to the middle reef line in the 50 to 75 foot range and if you can find the drop offs and/or bottom structure in that area I would get a chum line going and patiently wait for the Speedos to show up. Having a couple of pre-rigged spinners with a double set of #10 hooks with shrimp would be the ticket. That and have a 30 to 50 lb rod rigged with 18" of 30# wire to a 6+ feet of 40 to 50 lb mono leader with no weight to start with and immediately get the bait out there. Big smoker Kings and Black Grouper will stalk those Speedos up and down the reef. No matter what hits you are sure to have an epic fight on your hands. I've watched 50 lb Black Grouper boil the surface going after that bait but no matter what, when that line (in free spool) begins to tear out don't bother waiting hook em immediately and crank like there's no tomorrow because if it is your Black he'll make a bee line for the nearest hole. The battle is in preventing him from reaching it. Twenty Five to Fifty LB range is average size when fishing this way not to mention the Yellow Tail and Mutton Snapper you can catch can keep you busy while waiting for the bait.
    The whole sequence from dropping anchor till bait arrives generally takes an hour. If nothing happens find a different ledge/structure. Though your best chance for success is winter and spring, I've caught them this way right up until July.
    Tight lines and have fun.
    BTW, loved this video, brought back some very fond memories.
