Fuel injection leak very dangerous, a little silicone grease on O rings helps to reseat them in fuel rail and in engine block. You are good engineer Peter!
Thanks so much for such a great explanation, Mr. Peter, I love the way of how detailed you explain all of your videos, I'm your Fan from Tijuana Mexico, Now I'll jump to clean my Corolla Injectors, Best Regards.
Hello I have a problem I hope you can give me an advice or help me. My check engine light came on my Toyota Corolla hatchback 2007. Scanned the code it came up with P0171 Lean. I changed everything from spark plugs, and ignition coils, fixed up the vacuum intake gasket and checked for no leaks, also cleaned the fuel injectors they are working fine. I changed the air filter as well and cleaned the MAF sensor. I have no idea what to do next. The problem is still there and when idling sometimes the rpm needle goes up and down slightly a little bit sometimes it doesn't do that at all and just idles constantly fine. What's my other step?
Why don't you remove the fuel pump fuse and run the engine, engine dies after all the fuel is burnt in the fuel rail and so it should be less hazardous to work on ?
My car seems like it struggles around 50-60 mph but is very smooth below or above those speeds. Is there much chance that it is caused by dirty injectors or leaking injectors? I have not noticed any leaks. I have put in a new MAF and new coils and spark plugs.
+Julia Craig Clean MAF first and then replace spark plugs and air filter. Normally this helps. Look MAF clean: th-cam.com/video/dTlTbgKzO9w/w-d-xo.html
When gasoline starts dripping out is it always the small rings at the fuelrail side that are leaking? I'm working on this car now, I replaced an injector and the rings look fine. At the motor side it goes in VERY easy, almost too easy, you can even turn the injectors around a bit. Is that normal? There were no o- rings around it , but in your video I also don't see them, only the big rings...
Peter, you make good videos as far as quality goes, but please don't drag out every little detail. Most people can tell just by looking what your talking about. It makes it very hard not to fall asleep when you go on and on about an o-ring. Not trying to hurt your feelings I'm just letting you know that not many people have that much patience so they generally don't want to watch the whole thing. I guess I'm just trying to say is give you're viewers some credit for being able to understand just by seeing something 🤔🙂 keep up the good work 👍 Sincerely, J
When you buy the injectors, they typically come with the seal attached to the injector. Does it matter if you insert them into the cylinder with the seal attached, or should you take the seal off, put them into the cylinder, then align the injector afterwards?
@@gecek1244 There's a thick rubber ring on the end of the injector that gets push against the cylinder. My injectors would leak every year about. I finally realized after changing them the third time, it was because I was inserting the other end into the rail incorrectly. Don't go left to ride back and forth getting the O-Ring into the rail. Put some grease on the o-ring, and twist it side to side like rubbing your fingers together. Lasted longer that way.
Hi, your fan issue could be electric problem. There could we defect in electric sensor or wire broken. The injectors and motor fan are different parts. I recommend that you do OBD trouble codes faulty check using tester or you visit in auto repair shop. This test cost about 40 US$ or 40 Eur in repair shop. And you could also look my OBD faulty code video:" How to read car OBD-II faulty codes using laptop Toyota Corolla. Years 1999 to 2007. " Google.com finds also the video.
the rings just got replaced because they were cracked and injectors got put back in right. starts up great and runs better but now the gas is running out back the injectors really bad. what else could it be? that long bar maybe?
I can get a Denso rebuild kit which comes with both grommets and filter, or I can get all new injectors. I won't by the unbranded stuff, but should I clean and replace seals or just buy new injectors? On a similar video, you added grease to the o-ring prior to reinstalling, I was wondering about that as I don't have hi-temp grease laying around.
So, is this direct or port injection? I have cold start troubles (inconsistent idle with low temperatures...it's ok when it's warm). They say it could be because of carbon builup on the valves... but how is this possible if it's port injection?
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor So what is the injection system? Are my cold starts because of carbon? I already cleaned the MAF sensor (might still be dirty?).
Your problem might be the radiator coolant sensor. The sensor reads what's going on in your coolant system, sends info to your car's computer, and what it reads tells the fuel system how to put out gas to the injectors. I have your problem sometimes, cold engine, shaky start-up.
Hi peter finn, uhm i have a question ✋ ... I have a 2013 toyota 1.3 2nz-fe engine model with a original fuel injector part number 23250-21040(1.5L) ... Can i replace it with a new fuel injector part number 23250-22040(1.8L) ? Can it affect my engines performance ?

Take either fuel pump fuse out, or fuel pump relay out, and crank the engine. You can also depressurise the fuel system with the valve on the fuel rail - but this is a dirty way of doing it as fuel will go -everywhere-.
Hello! I need to check my o-rings on the injectors, do I need to depressurize the system or can I just do this if the car hasnt been started for over 10 hours ? My problem is that we got the injectors cleaned and now when we start the car it takes an extra few seconds for the car to fire up, so I think there might be a leak from the o-rings
Hi. If you open fuel injectors without depressurize, there is risk on huge fuel spatter and spraying in motor area. You could hurt yourself and if motor is also hot there is big fire and explosion risk ! So, depressurize system and work in outside and be near fire extinguisher. Mr. Finn. Thank you for the excellent explanation. I have a Toyota corolla 1998 1.4 gasoline. I never replaced the injectors. Can the injectors be cleaned only insted of replacement ?

+9945223 I had the same issue just now, and one big help was lubricating the O-rings before installing them into the fuel rail. It seemed to work better when I pressed the injector in very straight rather than wiggling it around to push it in.
